Make-up
There are so many different make-up styles to choose from, but we specifically choose
office make-up as that would match our theme, here is a simple google search of
suggestions:
The office makeup style depends on the character’s personality if they were confident that
may go for a bold look like red lipstick or depending on their mood. We wanted to go with a
dark eye scheme and light face to establish their character as a hardworking individual who
had an all-nighter. It was obvious from all the photos the most popular style is natural with
light makeup and a light tint of colour to the lips. However, we decided to stick with the
exaggerated eyes, smudged makeup and dark circles, despite research showing otherwise.
Here is a similar look to ours:
Najma has had previous experience in doing other people’s makeup and she also was very
eager on the creative aspects such as hair and costume which she decided upon. The overall
look is broken down into a step by step method, The photos for the first steps are missing
because we began taking photos in the middle. These photos were taken- on the test shot
06/01/17
The whole process was very time consuming and overall took 1 hour including photography.
The photos were taken by Zaynab Jumale
The Makeup Artist was Najma Rohani
The Model was Zara Parsons
1) She applied the Revlon Foundation on all corners of my face and blended it to
make it smooth.
2) Then she applied Powder on top to make the foundation look more settled.
3) Then she used the Revlon Photo Ready Shadow for the eyes. As shown in the
photos the shadow colours we choose were very dark which contrasted with the
pale face and created this tired/ zombie look.
4) Then she filled in my eyebrows with a very natural
brown eye shadow from the same palette so the
colours would match.
5) Afterwards we used Clinique Mascara and put it on the lashes in a downward
motion- so I looked down then I looked up so the lashes would be longer. Even
though my lashes are originally brown we thought choosing brown would not be
noticeable with all the eye shadow so we put black. Also, the colour black is
‘bold’ which I referenced in the short introduction video.
6) Then we applied the MAC lipstick in the shade of nude but it was too light so we did a
layer of this dark brown shade. The lipstick wasn’t that good quality but it was not that
noticeable so we just left this issue aside. In the office, we thought this shade will make
me look mature which is beneficial as my character is a 19-year-old intern.
7) Najma thought it was a good idea to use bronzer because this
would make me fit into the bracket of 18/19-year-old. We
applied too much bronzer at one point and had to remove
makeup and redo which wastes a lot of time. So, we decided
to bring hand wipes next time we shoot so we can fix
mistakes on the spot.
8) We used the glitter on top of the final look to add some dimension and shine to the eyes
since I thought the sparkly eyeshadow would make my eyes stand out more and it would
look good under the lighting.
9) We created the dark circles under the eyebags last with
the same eyeshadow palette because we wanted to have
the same consisted colours.
10) This is the final look:
Eye bags-
indicate lack of
sleep normally
Messy Hair-
Didn’t brush it Eyes are very deep
Pale Face
Sophisticated Tied
up hair
Zombie/Ghost look
