See the history of . . . a dynamic quarterIt was here that the world’sgreatest shipbuilders, Harlandand Wolff, built a succession of the finest ships of the age;employing a workforce thatreached over 30,000 at its peakand helped Belfast become oneof the greatest ports in the world.
Here, in this thriving city within a city, the
world’s most famous ship, the legendary
RMS Titanic, the largest and most
luxurious liner of her time, was built.
As part of Titanic Quarter that glorious
heritage lives on, not least in the Harland
and Wolff offices where Titanic was
designed, the slipways from which she was
launched and the vast dry dock in which her
great superstructure was created.
The 75-hectare site will ultimately include
an array of homes, schools, universities,
offices, shops, leisure facilities, parks and
gardens. The Belfast Maritime Experience,
to be housed adjacent to the original
Drawing Offices of Harland and Wolff, will
feature the Titanic Signature Project,
celebrating the innovation, invention and
engineering genius that created over 1,700
ships and made Belfast the centre of
excellence for all of Europe nearly 100
years ago.
Titanic Quarter will once again make
Belfast a byword for luxury and vision,
restoring the waterfront as the city’s heart
and helping to create a future more
dynamic than its past.
