MIXED MEDIA STILL LIFEIn this project you will combine collage, ebony pencil, charcoal, white charcoal and colored pencil (maybe watercolor too)

1. Using brown paper, book pages/newspapers, black construction paper and water color on white to create a collage

for their backgrounds.

2. Then, create value scales using ebony pencil, charcoal, and colored pencils in your sketchbook.

3. After the papers have dried, students will photograph a still life of objects of their choosing to draw from and the following

rules...

A. On white paper draw with ebony pencil.

B. On brown paper draw with colored pencil(s).

C. On Black Construction Paper draw with White charcoal pencil

D. On the book pages draw with charcoal/charcoal pencil.

You will produce a realistic still life drawing on top of the background you created. It will be Due October 24th

pioneered the art genre of photorealism; her work encompasses painting, sculpture, and

photography. Flack's photorealist paintings were the first such paintings to be purchased

for the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection, and her legacy as a photorealist

lives on to influence many American and International artists today

TODAY-

Objective

• Create the background for your still life. You must combine brown paper, newspaper/book pages

(and if you want black construction paper) onto a 12x18 piece of drawing paper.

HOMEWORK: Photograph objects placed next to each other for your still life drawing. Make sure they

overlap and tell us something about you (ie: sports your play, food you eat, clothes you wear, etc) BRING

THE PHOTOS or EMAIL your photos to me at etonon@psd202.org by Monday so we can print and begin

our still life drawings OR bring in your objects to be photographed in class or I will be creating a still life in

class for you to draw!

Things to Consider when photographing:

Different Angles- ZOOM IN, ZOOM OUT, Different Light source, Add a mirror

You must have a minimum of 6 objects!

MONDAY

• Students will begin to draw the contours of their still

life. By the end of the period if you do not have a

photograph of personal objects to draw, you will choose

some from my cabinets to photograph and draw.

• And discuss Colored pencils and how to create value

with them

A. On white paper draw with ebony pencil.

B. On brown paper draw with colored pencil(s).

C. On Black Construction Paper draw with White

charcoal pencil

D. On the book pages draw with charcoal/charcoal

pencil.
