As of 15 January, information obtained from IOM’s mobile teamsand other actors in impacted regions estimates that at least 8,700 persons have been internally displaced in Southern regions since the start of the conflict last week. This number takes into account the 5,000 persons that are estimated to be displaced in villages within the commune of Konna. To date, the total number of IPDs in Mali is estimated at 228,920.
Ongoing military operations in northern and central parts of Mali have deteriorated the humanitarian situation, which was already ofconcern before the beginning of the recent armed conflict. Limited access dueto security concerns is preventing humanitarian actors from providing anadequate response to the growing needs of the affected populations.
