For the last few weeks we have been holding a short assembly each morning to discuss our school values. At these assemblies we choose a value and a focus for our behaviour that day and have a discussion about what the behaviour will look like and sound like and the posive effect it will have if we are all behaving that way. The first discussions were around behaviour in our learning spaces and now we are talking about in our yard. Our aim is to use the informaon we collect at these discussions to create a values matrix detailing our behaviour expectaons in each area of the school. The matrix will support all of us in understanding appropriate behaviour in our learning spaces, in our yard and when we are out and about in our community. Writers Fesval. Learning with a view...to the future.

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

School values assemblies. For the last few weeks we have been holding a short assembly each morning to discuss our school values. At these assemblies we choose a value and a focus for our behaviour that day and have a discussion about what the behaviour will look like and sound like and the positive effect it will have if we are all behaving that way. The first discussions were around behaviour in our learning spaces and now we are talking about in our yard. Our aim is to use the information we collect at these discussions to create a values matrix detailing our behaviour expectations in each area of the school. The matrix will support all of us in understanding appropriate behaviour in our learning spaces, in our yard and when we are out and about in our community.

Writer’s Festival. Next term we will be celebrating our student’s writing with our inaugural Writer’s Festival. We are very excited to be able to share the beautiful writing our students produce. We would love to showcase writing from you too! Do you love to write? Let me know if you would love to share your writing. I’m going to encourage our staff to have some writing on display too. How cool will that be– writing from all members of our community on display!

Mid-year reports. Our teachers have been working very hard to prepare mid-year reports. Many hours go into our reports and our aim is to give you a snapshot of how your child is progressing with our termly parent/teacher/student meetings an opportunity to discuss learning progress and to set learning goals. Information to book a meeting will be sent home early next term.

Bugs and our chooks. Holidays are coming up. Are you able to have Bugs for some or all of the holidays? Can you come up and help look after the chooks and the vegie gardens? Please let Siobhan know next week if you can help. We have quite a few tired, sick students at the moment, I hope everyone gets to rest and recover over the holidays. Don’t forget, Siobhan is Acting Principal next week. I will see you all next term. Warm regards, Carolyn Tavener. Principal

Malmsbury PS OSHC! Hi everyone,

We got to run outside a lot in the wintery evening playing imagination games and level tiggy. We invited the

Preps to an OSHC open day and cookie party on Wednesday. It was great fun and I got to meet some Preps

and their families. Zoe joined us on Thursday for her first OSHC. Welcome Zoe! Jordan had a birthday on

Thursday and shared cupcakes with us. We also ate healthy fruit. The blocks and lego people came out again

for an extensive football match. One week to go until holidays!

From Louise.

Liam from grade 1/2 would like some help from

Malmsbury Primary School. He is collecting bottle caps

for a not for profit organisa-tion called ‘Helping Hands’

by ENVISION.

This organisation provides jobs for disadvantaged peo-

ple in Melbourne. These people use the bottle caps by turning them into prosthetic hands for children in devel-

oping and war torn countries.

Please bring the bottle caps

to Grade 1/2.
