Urinary incontinence affects over 4.6 million Australians creating a huge burden for our patients, society and economy.
Course outline
This session will enable general practitioners to confidently evaluate and manage patients with urinary incontinence and prolapse and will cover how to:
• Take a detailed history of female incontinence and prolapse symptoms
• Examine a patient for prolapse and assess pelvic floor strength
• Use vaginal pessaries as a non-surgical option for pelvic organ prolapse
• Determine when to order relevant investigations e.g. urodynamics or cystoscopy
• Exercise pelvic floor muscles
• Use office based, minimally invasive and surgical treatment options (including Botox).
