Dear Sponsors

The first international course on the manage- ment of the diabetic foot, organised by the Diabetic Foot Clinic at the University Hospital of Pisa, was held in 2009. This was a great success with very satisfied participants from all over the world.

The international courses are based on the expertise gathered from more than 10 con- secutive years of providing national courses and on the knowledge and the unique struc- ture of treatment offered by the specialised diabetic foot clinic at the University Hospital of Pisa, established in 1989.

The course is held in Pisa, Italy, and offers a combination of theory and practical training in the clinic within a 4-day period.

With the combination of lectures from dif-fe-rent specialists and training in the clinic, course participants will gain insight into both the theory of the field and the practical meth-ods used in the clinic. The individual training covers all the areas of interest related to the modern clinical approach to the diabetic foot, including instrumental diagnosis, revascular-ization, surgery and rehabilitation.

The course will also focus on the structure of treatment and guidelines for establishing a diabetic foot clinic. Thereby it reaches out to clinicians as well as hospital departments and clinic management.

A secondary aim of the course is to facilitate European consensus on the structure of treat-ment of the diabetic foot and to raise political awareness of the challenges related to treat-ment and prevention of the diabetic foot.

In this document you will find information about the different ways for your company to get involved in the international courses on management of the diabetic foot.

Hopefully you will find the information you need. If you have any questions, please let us know.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Prof. Alberto Piaggesi

Director of the Diabetic Foot Section of the Pisa University Hospital

What makes the PISA Course unique

The course has run for 10 years and is unmatched in content, faculty and the scientific level. Despite the relatively high price for partici-pants, it’s full year after year.

Partly because of the price, it attracts clinicians who are deter-mined to pursue career within the diabetic foot field and many of whom will (or have) become the rising stars in the field.

Theoretical AND practical sessions. Each day is divided into morning lectures at the hotel and afternoon practical sessions at the hospital (5 minute walk).

The highly accomplished faculty, both Italian and international.

The course programme will be based on the existing consensus paper on management of the dia-betic foot. Thus, sponsors will be part of an international coopera-tion within the area, aiming at the dissemination and implementa-tion of best practise structures for a thorough prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of this complex pathology.

Highly sought after course and a valued addition to a CV of anyone interested in pursuing career with-in the diabetic foot area.

Deep dive into all topics and aspects of diabetic foot management, including the set-up of a multidis- ciplinary diabetic foot clinic etc.

The Course attracts participants from far and wide and has a reach beyond Europe – it’s sought by participants from Asia and the Middle East, but also from the US.

Excellent networking opportunity, sponsors become part of the community and privy to the latest discussions.

New Technologies workshop 2,500 EUR

We are setting aside 45 minutes in the course programme. In this session, we divide parti- cipants in 4 groups to ensure maximum interaction and rotate them between 4 practical sessions of 10-12 minutes each.

We offer this opportunity to companies to showcase their device or product and its use in prac-tical setting. Focus should be on the procedure and the unique value that your device adds.

There will only be an opportunity for 4 companies to join, so we invite the interested com- panies to show their interest early and reserve a spot.

The session is chaired by Prof. Alberto Piaggesi.

Focus groups give companies a chance to ask experts/key opinion leaders their opinion in a closed forum and are interesting for companies, who:

• Are about to launch a new product.

• Are new to the European market and need feedback on their existing products.

• Are established in general wound care but need more knowledge about DFU treatment.

• Would like to establish contact to key opinion leaders.

• Are interested in feedback on products or clinical studies.

A focus group at the Diabetic Foot Course has the advantage that you do not need to fly in and accommodate a group of 8-10 persons, as all key opinion leaders are present at the course. This makes the focus group a cost effective tool to get feedback and promote your product towards key opinion leaders. Each focus group is designed and agreed individually.
