Management Reporter

• Last year we showed how the Web Viewer now displays account and transaction level details, but there are other notable changes for the Web Viewer.• Report headers and footers now display by default in the

Web Viewer.• Users have the ability to view previous versions of reports

from the ‘Show’ icon.• Users with permissions above ‘Viewer’ (i.e. Generators,

Designers, and Administrators) may now Refresh a report in the Web Viewer to update data based on the criteria specified when the report was generated.

• Rows now offer the ability to create a side by side reports easily by using a section break option• While it was possible to do this in earlier versions, users

had to rely heavily on column restrictions.

• In the Format Code pick-list, select ‘COLUMN’ to shift all rows below to the right of the original section.

• Do you ever run reports part way through the year and wish you could include budget amounts for the remaining periods?

• How is this possible??

Page 22: Management Reporter Ian Richardson CGA Cale Tanguay CGA

• Use print controls in your column definition:

• P <= B - Print only if period is less than or equal to Base period• P > B - Print only if period is greater than Base

period

• Have you ever wondered how statements of changes in financial position are designed in Management Reporter?• How do you calculate the net change for activity types?

In the row or the column?

Management Reporter

Page 27: Management Reporter Ian Richardson CGA Cale Tanguay CGA

• The answer is you can use either the row or column to calculate the net change.• In either case you’ll want to include data for your

calculation, but not print it on your report.

• Here is an example created using a column definition:

• How do I manage groups of accounts I use over and over again in numerous reports?• Is there an easier way than opening every definition for

adjustments every time I add a new account?

Management Reporter

Page 31: Management Reporter Ian Richardson CGA Cale Tanguay CGA

• Yes…you can use Dimension Value Sets• It’s an excellent way to group together various accounts

so you only have to change the group once and all reports referencing that group are updated.• From any row definition, select: Edit > Manage

Dimension Value Sets

• What about cleaning up my reports? Some of them are pretty ugly! • How do I shade columns?• How do I change the date format because I’m tired of

seeing the day of the week!?• How to I include additional information for a branch of a

tree?• How do I know who has access to the data in the report?

Management Reporter

Page 35: Management Reporter Ian Richardson CGA Cale Tanguay CGA

• To shade a column you simply need to highlight the desired column in a column definition (same as in Excel).• It will display the shading in the header row and the first

row for the column type in the definition, but display the shading in the entire column when generated.

• The date format is based on the user’s date/time settings. When using the Report Viewer, the user can modify the date format as follows:

• Right-click on the time/date on the desktop• Select “Change date and time settings…”• Click on “Change date and time …”• Then select “Change calendar settings”• Choose “MMMM d, yyyy”• Now the “Long date” in Report Viewer will return only themonth, date, and year and not the day of the week

Management Reporter

Page 38: Management Reporter Ian Richardson CGA Cale Tanguay CGA

• In preparation for this User Group we found the user’s date/time settings did not affect the date format when using the Web Viewer. For the Web Viewer, the date/time format used is based on the user associated with the Process Service. Thus, if you’re only using the Web Viewer you would only have one option for the date/time format available – it would not be based on the individual user’s preference.

• To include additional text for a branch in the tree, enter the desired text in the ‘Additional Text’ column for that branch (up to 10 additional columns).

Management Reporter

• When it comes to security in Management Reporter there are many ways to lock down who has access to the data in your reports• Security is based on users and groups in Active

Directory

• User types• Unit security• Report security• Report folder security
