Brief Synopsis of the Entire Event:

J.D.Birla Institute, Management Section was invited for Narsee Monjee’s National fest, Vaayu,’13.

It took a long time for this feeling to sink in first that we were going to Mumbai from college. An

exhilarating experience which can and will never be forgotten.

19 of us boarded the train on 27th morning, all set for the fest.

With a mixed bag of feelings we headed towards the city of Dreams, Mumbai.

In spite of a long journey and the scorching sun right above our heads, the excitement did not fade

away.

We set out to explore the city in our small groups. Few of us went to the Infinite Mall at Malad,

shopped a little and at on a cyclone ride which was actually located inside the mall.

Few of us took a stroll around the Andheri area, where we were putting up. As we had a day off,

some of us visited our relatives and just prepared for our upcoming events.

Day 1: (29.11.’13)

We kick-started the fest with the very first event, which was Football. Then, our very own bass

guitarist, Jineshwar Kochar, took part in Guitar wars (Pluck a String) and drew up in the top 5.

The highlights of the day were clearly the Bodybuilding event in which Mohammed Rafay came third

and the street play in which almost the entire contingent took part in.

Aditya Bubna, first semester, got a special mention by the judge after the play.

Just a Minute (JAM), Press conference and some gaming events like NFS, FIFA were some other

events we took part in.

The Investigative Courtroom Trial, VerdICT, was also an event in which we qualified for the second

round.

Maulik Parekh, Divdrisht Suri and Pratyush Kejriwal took part in this event and came in the top 4.

Bulls and Bears was a stock market event in which Abhhishekh Ajmani placed along with Yash

Mishra. The Marketing event too was a well done job. All in all, we started the fest with a bang. The

campus and the canteens all over the place took us aback with amazing food and people

everywhere. The PRONITE was a good treat for all of us where a DJ from the Sunburn Arena made us

trip to his beats and that’s how we called our first day off.

DAY 2 (30.11.’13):

The second day was the most action packed one. We started with Basketball and Revelation (case

study). The Case Study was a flagship event in which Divdrisht Suri, Jinehswar Kochar and Dhaghash

Shah took part and came third. Another flagship event we took part in was Mr. and Ms.Vaayu in

which Jineshwar Kochar took Part. There were gaming events like WWE and Counter Strike too.

Maulik Parekh and Rajdeep Mukherjee came second in the photography contest and Diksha Katyal

and Neha Garodia came third in the NGO event.

Abhhishekh Ajmani came second in the department Manager flagship event in which 15 colleges had

participated.

DAY 3 (01.12.’13);

We opened the day with Sufi Singing and Costume Designing using plastic. We took part in Model

Hunt, Baking and word games too. Divdrisht Suri and Yash Chablani reached the finals of the Hindi

Word Games.

There were two quiz events in which our contingent took part.

Maulik Parekh, Divdrisht Suri and Pratyush Kejriwal reached the semi-finals of the VerdICT event.

The most special event for the day was B-Plan flagship event in which the College Representatives

Tausif Ali and Rahil Hafeez got a special mention by the judges saying that their idea was the best

idea among the top 5 business ideas in which around 25 colleges participated.

Divdrisht Suri, Himanshu Chiripal, Yash Chablani and Jineshwar Kochar took part in the Panel

Discussion which gave us an insight about youth and entrepreneurship.

DAY 4 (02.12.’13):

The day started with a bang with Mohammed Adil placing first in I Am Ironman fitness endurance

flagship event.

Pratyush Kejriwal went to the finals of Formula 1 gaming event. Our contingent took part in Call of

Duty too in which they went up to the finals and were placed second with the team of Yash Mishra,

Pratyush Kejriwal, Rahul Roy, Rajdeep Mukherjee and Jineshwar Kochar.

We even took part in Risk and Chessopoly where Yash Chablani, Divdrisht Suri and Jineshwar Kochar

went up to the finals.

We were placed in the Captain Planet flagship event in which we had to travel around the city with

no money and phone to perform various tasks in order to win this event; Tausif Ali, Vishal Mudgal

and Aditya Bubna came third in this event in which 20 colleges participated.

Rahil Hafeez came second in the Marketing Event in which 18 colleges participated.

We ended the day with the best Glow Party featuring DJ Chetas and Shivani Kashyap which was the

main attraction for the festival.

Rajdeep Mukherjee [1st semester]

It is said that to prove our worth, we have to move out of our comfort zone- and that we did. For the

first time in the history of J.D. Birla (Management Section), we were given a chance to represent our

college at an outstation fest, Vaayu 2013, hosted by Narsee Munjee Institute of Management

Studies in Mumbai. Even before setting off for Mumbai, we had to face a couple of setbacks. A few

glitches here and there blocked our way. But the determination and hard work of Tausif Ali and Rahil

really put us back on track.

So it happened, with a desire to win and put our college on the map, we set off for Mumbai on the

27th November 2013. After a tiring thirty six hour journey, we had to cope up with room shifting as

the rooms were not available immediately. But some prompt action by both the representatives did

not allow much inconvenience to come our way. After a day of rest and refreshments, we started off

with the fest on 29th November, 2013. And it was hectic. Being our first time, we had a small

contingent. This and the fact that we wanted to take part in maximum events to gather maximum

points for the college, really put us to work. And we did get results.

Apart from laurels we learnt a lot of things, teamwork being the most important. We worked

together, we played together, we laughed together and we won together. We all understood what it

takes to organise something even at its most basic form and also what leadership is all about.

Hopefully, we have opened the doors to further such outstation events for the future batches and

hopefully they will take it a step further and win a few more trophies. A special thanks to Mr. Md.

Feroz Sir and Mrs. Pradipta Hazra for the wonderful support we received along with all the teachers

of J.D Birla (Management Section). And also to Tausif Ali and Rahil without whom this trip would

have remained a footnote on some back cover of a diary.

Rahul Roy[1st Semester]-

A memorable trip to Mumbai to attend a fest organised by the Narsee Munjee Institute of

Management Studies named Vaayu‘13 began with a group of 19 of young, talented students of

J.D.Birla Institute led by Tausif Ali and Rahil Hafeez of the 5th semester. The group was prepared for

all the upcoming events and were ready to prove their capability.

The fest was of 4 days and there were many events. Each and every individual took part in various

events and also won in many events. Other than events, there were many shows in the evening to

entertain everyone.

I personally enjoyed a lot as it was a whole new experience. I realized the importance of team

work, coordination, planning and much more.

In future, I would like to definitely attend such fests and represent our college.

Diksha Katyal [1st semester]-

This is the 1st outstation fest that JD Birla has participated in and its gives me immense joy as I was a

part of the contingent. On my way to Mumbai the only thing that was in my mind is that I'm going to

have a lot of fun and get a lot of exposure.

But this trip gave me much more than that I was extremely proud and happy with the way our

college performed. We placed in almost all the events we took part.

We were representing our college or in other words the face of the college. I returned from Mumbai

with a lot of happy memories which I’m going to cherish throughout my life and I hope we get such

opportunities in the future too :)

Yash Chablani [1st semester]

The Vaayu fest came as a breath of fresh It was my first ever opportunity to participate on a national

level. The fest came as a package of fun and innovative events, which unfolded bags of novel

experiences-team spirit, bonding with friends and unparalleled learning.

To start a group of 19 enthusiastic students travelling by train, getting to know each other better.

The fest went on for four full days; each day was a new journey with a number of events to

participate in.

Ludo quiz was my favourite wherein I reached the semi-finals. The highlight of the fest was the

proshows it ended with every day. The best out of which was the glow party. Never ending fun and

memories. I came back enriched with incalculable experiences of life.

Dhagash Shah [1st Semester]

The trip to Bombay for Vaayu 13 was enthralling and filled with surprise. Every Day was a new

challenge in itself with different events that tested our mental and physical strength, from

Revelation (case study) to Ironman (fitness task).

But it was not all about work and no enjoyment. Every night they had events to cheer us up

(Sunburn, glow party). Will cherish every moment spent there.

It was also great work from our Contingent leader Tausif Ali and Rahil Hafeez, one moment they

were firm and demanding and the next they were kind and reassuring.

For me on a personal note, it meant a lot. It gave me the motivation required to strive for and

achieve what was expected off me and get to that next level.

This trip taught me that there are people out there who are better than you are and you have to

keep working if you want to come out on top.

We had received a jersey with our name at the back without a number and I wondered why did we

not get a number and I realized we had to earn it.

STILL TRYING TO EARN IT!

"I'VE LEARNED MUCH MORE THAN I'VE LOST...."

Neha Garodia [1st Semester]-

Initially the planning for the Vaayu trip had begun with huge number of people, talented in various

field.

The fest begun on the 29th of November, where I took part in my very first event that is street

play. In street play, we don't have a stage, we don't have costumes, and we don't have props. It's an

open stage. It was good experience for me as I had never done a street play as such before. Though

we did not place, one of team members, Aditya Bubna received an appreciation for his performance.

The same day, I had another event, 'Bake someone happy'. I qualified to the 2nd round. Even

though I wasn't able to go the finals.

It was a great experience for me and I learned a lot of recipes and techniques. The next day, the

event I took part in was 'Plastic wrap'. Each group had 3 participants, 2 designers and 1 model. We

were given various sorts of plastics, even buttons, bottle caps, bubble wrap, just to create a costume

for the model. I had never done anything of this sort, though it was tedious, I enjoyed myself. We

were praised on our efforts by the judges.

The next day I had my NGO event, where Diksha Katyal and I took part. We had to sell products

made by the NGO that NMIMS is affiliated with. We had to travel all over Mumbai, just to sell all the

products. It was a 4 hours event and it definitely highlighted my marketing and persuasion skills. We

collect Rs. 4700, being the 3rd highest amount to be collected.

Going for a fest that is one of the best college fest in India, representing college was something I

never expected, being a student of the 1st year. Over all, I personally gained a lot of experience and

knowledge, made new friends, and enjoyed myself to the fullest.

I would conclude by saying that Tausif and Rahil organized everything very well; made sure we were

there for our events, motivated us, took care of all of us and was always there for us. And I also

thank them and our college to make this trip happen for me.

Yash Kumar Mishra [1st Semester]

Well Narsimunji college-always heard of it and is one of my aimed b-school for pursuing M.B.A.

I had an amazing time there.

Watching all the talents from different parts of the country, from different colleges participating and

giving their best to make their college proud was absolutely amazing and gives a sense of

competitiveness.

The best part about the fest was that all the new events that were introduced-they were actually

giving the students some sense and taste of the business world. Like I participated in an event called

bulls and bears where I learnt about the share market conditions and the right time to buy and sell

shares.

Although we didn't win, but the learning part was much more important than winning. Apart from

the events, also loved their arrangements after the events and all the guest performances that we all

enjoyed.

In short loved this experience and willing to go every year to learn something new.

Md.Rafay [3rd Semester]

Vaayu ‘13 was a great experience for me. I have taken away with me a sense of pride and

accomplishment and valuable advice from all the adjudicators. I had participated in three events-

Campus titan, Model hunt and Ironman.

The fest had been very successful for me. I came third in Campus titan where the judges had to

assess the athleticism of the physique. Meeting all the people and the professionals that the fest

brought in gave me the ambition to continue with my fitness training.

An acknowledgement goes to Tausif Ali and Rahil Hafeez for all their help and support in preparing

me for the fest, and also to all my friends who kept motivating me throughout the fest.
