Nature and Extent of Involvement of Faculty and Students in Academic Affairs/ Improvements .

(1) Students of the institute are involved in various academic activities like seminars, quiz and debate & declamation contests. Technical fests, sports meet, culturual, festivals are organized at regular intervals in which the participation from the other institutes is also invited. We have also established ISTE students chapter under which national level seminars, workshopsare organized for the technical devolopement for the students. Eminent persons from the leading industries & the educational institutions are invited for the guest lectures.

(2) Faculty from various departments is pursuing M.Tech. / P.hD from various universities. The faculty members in national level semionars to present papers, workshops, are organized in the institutes under ISTE faculty chapter.

(3) Advisory committee has been set up for the improvements. Attendance and sessional marks sent to the parents regularly.

Mechanism/Norms & Procedure For Democratic/Good Governance

(1) In order to maintain the accountability, we conduct an Internal Audit Every Semester at departmental and inter departmental level. We have an open door policy. Every Saturday meetings of the Members of Staff Are Conducted and Their Feedbacks and opinions are Sought. Faculty and other members of staff are motivated to deliver ideas to make system sore effective.

(2) At BGIET, we have a very healthy and democratic procedure of governance. We have the four tiers of taking decisions: The Faculty, Head of Departments, Director, Principal and Finally the BGIET Management. We Also Incorporate the Suggestions of Student Representatives to Make Our System More Effective and Democratic.Our Alumni Also Plays a Vital Role In Policy Making.

Student Feedback on Institutional Governance / Faculty Performance

(1) A Transparent and impartial system is followed for awarding internal assessment to the students in which specified marks are allotted for the attendance, assignments and minor tests as per the University criteria

(2) Monthly departmental meetings with the head of the institute for regular interaction and smooth conduct of the academic, administrative, co-curricular affairs of the institute.

(3) Smart card system is followed.

(4) Special software’s are installed for keeping the students information Handy. Information regarding their attendance, performance, and university results is regularly updated.

Grievance Redressal Mechanism For Faculty, Staff And Students

(1) There is a procedure of filling up a feedback performa by the class representative which consists of the contents of syllabus covered and percentage of the syllabus covered.

(2) Regular, anonymous, questionnaires are given to students to fill in with a view to identify the problem areas.

(3) In addition to the suggestion boxes, institute also encourages the students to fill in suggestion forms regularly and in the follow up everybody in the college in promptly informed of any decision whatsoever reached on each suggestion.

At BGIET there is a separate Examination Cell headed by Controller of exam. An Asst. Controller and 2 clerks assist the Controller. The Dean Academics provides additional support. The examination cell is housed in a separate room and has facilities like strong room for keeping the exam related material and a photocopy machine.

There are 16 rooms with a capacity of 36 persons each for conducting the examination.The examination cell is responsible for conducting the internal periodic tests, university and external practical tests.

Teaching Learning Process:

Apart from the conventional black board teaching and lecture methodology other instructional techniques are

used to make teaching learning effective. This includes the use of overhead projectors; LCD’s and

multimedia are used to make teaching more conducive. Lecture note’s soft-copies as Power Point

Presentations are also sending on students e-mail ID to provide them with effective and in-depth study

material. Group discussions, presentations and assignments are regularly given to the students. Surprise tests

are conducted in order to check the grasping of subject matter and attention in class of the students. Students

are required to submit at least six assignments per semesters.

Internal continuous evaluation system and place:

Ø There is a well-established internal continuous evaluation system in this institute.

Ø Students are required appearing in three internal minor tests conducted at regular intervals.

Ø The last test is strictly in accordance with the university pattern & of three hours duration.

Ø In addition, students are assigned 5 assignments per subject per semester. The assisgnments submitted by the students are evaluated & are returned with remarks of the teacher concerned

.Ø The internal tests & assignments carry 60% and 25% weightage in session assessment of the students,

respectively. The remaining 15% marks are assigned on the basis of their attendance.

Student’s assessment of faculty, system in place:

Ø There is a procedure of filling up a feedback performa by the class representative which consists of the contents of syllabus covered & percentage of the syllabus covered.- 114 -

Ø Regular, anonymous, questionnares are given to the students to fill in with a view to identify the problem areas.

Ø In addition to the suggestion boxex, institute also encourages the students to fill in suggestion forms regularly and in the follow up everybody in the college in the promptly informed of any decision whatso ever reached on each suggestion.
