VAMPIRE SONG

Cursed Blood son el grupo de moda, líderes de ventas y con una gira espectacular que ha recorrido medio pla-neta. Su imagen, sus canciones y su misteriosa forma de vida atraen a fans de todos los países. Aunque ante al-gunos ojos son simplemente unos excéntricos cantantes, ellos guardan con celo su secreto. Llevaban demasiados siglos escondidos y decidieron presentarse por todo lo grande. Están preparados para comerse el mundo. Lite-ralmente. Que empiece el concierto.

The group, Cursed Blood, are at the height of their fame, top of the charts and on an amazing tour that has taken them half way round the globe. Their image, songs and mysterious lifestyle have attracted fans from all over the world. While some people think they are just eccentric singers, they actually have a dark secret. They have been in hiding for centuries and have now decided to reveal themselves in all their glory. They are ready to devour the world; literally. Let the concert begin.

1. BOCETOS SKETCHES

La idea consistía en representar una pareja de vampiros cantantes que llevan una doble vida. Por un lado son unos excéntricos artistas de rock, pero por otro son unas insaciables criaturas inmortales. Mante-niendo siempre esa estética visual kei típica de los grupos japoneses, escogimos la propuesta que reflejaba mejor su dualidad.

The idea is to depict two vampire singers that lead a double life. They are eccentric rock artists as well as insatiable immortal creatures. Re-taining the typical visual kei of Japanese groups, the aesthetic that best reflected their duality is finally chosen.

4. ANATOMÍALos cuerpos de los vampiros son fuertes, de espaldas anchas, pero estilizados, para remarcar su ambigüedad. Incluimos también los instrumentos para colocar las manos sobre los mismos.

The vampires’ bodies are strong with broad, stylised backs to denote their ambiguity. The instruments are now also included so that the hands can be placed over them.

5. DETALLESEl vestuario emula los grupos visual japoneses, con cadenas, pinchos y cuero negro. Los elementos del fondo han sido modelados mediante figuras 3D.

The clothing emulates the visual Japanese bands with chains, spikes and black leather. The background elements have been created using sculpted 3D figures.

Integramos los brillos en la imagen teniendo en cuenta las diferentes fuentes de luz que provienen de los focos.

Highlights are added to the image, taking into account the different sources of il-lumination coming from the spotlights.

Añadimos y coloreamos los elementos gráficos del espejo organizando las capas en un grupo distinto.

The graphic elements on the mirror are added and painted, organising the layers into a different group.

• Sobre el cristal del espejo colocamos una capa de degra-dado al 42% de Opacidad, reservando al cantante, para di-ferenciar el mundo humano del vampírico.

• Creamos el efecto de los focos mediante degradados a los que bajamos ligeramente la Opacidad de capa y los recorta-mos siguiendo el ángulo de proyección de la luz.

• Superponemos una textura granulada sobre toda la ima-gen final resultante.

• A gradient layer set at 42% Opacity is added to the glass in the mirror, excluding the singer, to differentiate between the human and vampire worlds.

• The spotlight effects are created using gradient techniques. The Opacity of the layer is then slightly lowered and the effect is trimmed to follow the angle of projected light.

• A granulated texture is then overlaid on the whole final image.

Trucos y consejos

• La base de color de este dibujo se hizo en SAI pero los ajustes, textu-ras y efectos finales se acabaron en Photoshop.

• El fondo está creado a partir de tramas del MangaStudio y los 3D están diseñados con SketchUp/Autocad.

• El coloreado está realizado con el pincel opaco estándar de SAI, pero para los detalles se han creado pinceles exclusivos, que permiten dibu-jar elementos como las cadenas, en las que se va repitiendo el mismo diseño.

• The base color for this drawing was created using SAI but the adjust-ments, textures and final effects were made using Photoshop.

• The background was created using designs from the MangaStudio and the 3D effects were designed using SketchUp/Autocad.

• The painting was carried out with a SAI standard opaque brush, but exclusive brushes, that can be used to paint elements such as chains which require a repetitive design, were created to add the details.

GOTHIC PRINCESS

La princesa gótica del Reino de la Muerte está cansada de vivir recluida, sin ver qué hay tras los muros de palacio. Pero una chica joven como ella necesita ver mundo y es el momento de escaparse y vivir aventuras. Eso sí, siempre bien acompañada por sus fieles mascotas vampíricas.

The Gothic Princess from the Kingdom of the Dead is tired of living shut away behind the walls of her palace. A young girl needs to see the world and now is the time to escape and enjoy some adventures. Of course, she will be accompanied at all times by her faithful vampire pets.

1. BOCETOS

El primer diseño que hicimos tenía un aspecto más de lolita cándida, por ello, manteniendo la estética gótica, diseñamos un vestido y una lolita con una imagen más oscura, compensada con el toque kawaii de los vampiritos.

The first design created has an innocent lolita feel about it. A dress is therefore sketched for a lolita with a darker side, keeping a gothic aes-thetic and adding a touch of vampire kawaii.

La mirada de la princesa tiene que ser un poco triste, mientras que los vampiritos tienen una mirada mucho más enérgica.

The princess has to have a sad look in her eyes, while the little vampires have a more energetic look.

Para el diseño del vestido usamos como referencia un traje de lolita gótica pero con un toque punk, al dejar ver la estructura que da volumen a la falda.

The dress design is based on a gothic lolita outfit and given a punk edge by leaving the structure underneath the skirt exposed.

Añadimos algunos puntos de luz blanca sobre los vampiritos y finas pinceladas violeta sobre el cabello de la princesa.Touches of white light are added to the vampire pets and fine violet brushstrokes in the princess’s hair.

Colocamos a los personajes sobre el fondo creado mediante tres capas diferentes: fondo granate, cementerio con brillos y pinceladas de sombra y por último suelo tipo ajedrez. The characters are placed onto the background which has three different layers: a burgundy background, a cemetery with highlights and touches of shade, and finally a chequered floor.

• Añadimos con la Opción de Fusión de Capa Trazo un con-torno blanco de 14 píxeles que siluetee la imagen.

• Superponemos al fondo una capa de textura gris en Modo de Fusión de Capa Multiplicar con la Opacidad al 84 %.

• A 14 pixel white outline is added using the Stroke Layer Blending Option to give the image a silhouette.

• The background is overlaid with a layer of grey texture using Multiply Layer Blending Mode with 84% Opacity.

Trucos y consejos

• Es un fallo muy común alinear los hombros y las caderas de manera equivocada. Pero si probamos este tipo de torsión frente al espejo nos daremos cuenta de como resulta la pose correcta.

• Si las líneas del dibujo están cerradas y marcamos todas las opciones de la Herramienta Bote de pintura (Suavizado, Contiguo, Todas las ca-pas) podemos ir rellenando el color en nuevas capas de una manera mucho más rápida, sin tener que seleccionar previamente las zonas con la Herramienta Varita Mágica.

• A common mistake is to incorrectly line up the shoulders and hips. But if you try this type of twist out in front of the mirror you will see what the correct pose should look like.

• If the lines of the drawing are closed and all of the Paint Bucket Tool options are marked (Softened, Contiguous, All Layers) the new layers of color can be filled in much quicker, without having to previously select the zones with the Magic Wand Tool.
