PLAN OF ACTION ACHIEVEMENTS To organise faculty development programme
Department of Computer Science organised a FDP on 12th and 13th June, 2017 on Empowering Faculty as Educators – Researcher & Innovator. The Guest Speaker was Mrs.S.Rajalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Madura College. Department of Commerce[CA] conducted a FDP on 12th June, 2017 titled Excellence in Teaching & Research and guest speakers was Dr.K.Karthikeyan, Associate Professor , Department of Commerce , Vivekananada College , Madurai.
On 14th June 2017, Department of Physics and Maths organised a FDP on Ice-Breaking and was presented by Mr.Viswanathan Mahadevan, Senior Trainer & Co-ordinator, Kalvi Higher Education And Research Institute, Madurai
Feather Touch Leads To Vealiation- A FDP was organised on 14th June, 2017 by the Department of Tamil and the resource person was Dr.Gandhimathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, Sree Meenakshi Government Women Arts College.
A FDP on “Be Transformed to Transform” was conducted by the Department of English and the Guest Speaker was Dr.S. Saira Banu, Associate Professor, The Research Centre of English, Fatima College
Dr. K. Udhayakumar, Associate Professor, Dept., of English Comparative Literature, MKU, was the special invitee to a FDP titled Creating An English Climate In a class room to study organised by Business Administration department on 17th June, 2017.
On 12th and 13th July 2017, inassociation with ICTACT Academy, FDP on Teaching Techniques was conducted by, Ms.Kalpana Gopal, Soft Skill Trainer, ICTACT and Different Techniques of Teaching was Illustrated.

November, 2017 was organised and the session was addressed by Dr.Smt.D.SasiReka, The Principal, The Standard Fireworks RajaRathinam College for women, Sivakasi.
Ms.M. Vinothini, Asst., Prof., Department of Maths and Ms. A.Abirami, Asst., Prof., Department of Commerce attended an one day FDP [Under UGC Autonomy Grant ] on the Theme of Innovation in Teaching on 17th March, 2018, organised by Sourashtra College
To organise more lectures and seminars, workshops and club activities.
Department of Computer Science organised a seminar on Innovation & IT Management, on 28th June, 2017 by Mr.Prasath, ICTACT. On 12th July, Techzena -17 was organised and competitions on paper presentation, software marketing, Program development, quiz and mock interview was also Conducted by the department of Computer Science. A Seminar on Thamizh Kalvi was conducted by Dr.M.Karpagam,Asst., Prof., Department of Tamil, Thiyagaraja College, on 14th July, 2017. On 14th July 2017, a seminar on Goal Inauguration Inassociation with EKTA was organised by Department of English and the Speaker was Dr.K.ChandraSekaran, EKTA. Department of Computer Science organised a seminar on pervasive computing on 26th July, 2017 and was conducted by Mr.V.IsakkiRajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, PKN College. Department of Commerce [CA] organised Minerva 2K17 club Meet on 27th July 2017 and events like paper presentation, channel surfing, treasure hunt, pencil drawing and quiz was conducted for the students. Department of Business Administration organised BXI ADMIN Meet, 2017-18 and was inaugurated by Dr.G.Natarajan, CEO, Chettinaad Food Processors and the visiting faculty of Bombay Stock Exchange conducted a seminar on impact of GST on Entrepreneurs, on 18 th Aug, 2017 and competitions namely Paper Presentation on Impact of GST, Rangoli, Ad-Act , As You Like It and Achievement

Motivation were conducted to identify their innate skills and potentiality. On 21st August, 2017, Department of Tamil organised a seminar on “Solladhathai Sollappovathillai”, the guest speaker was Mr. A Asaimani, PGT, GOVT., HSS., Alavakottai, Sivagangai . On 28th July, 2017, Department of English organised a seminar on African American Literature and conducted By Dr.S.Beula, Asst., Prof., Department of English, Sree Meenakshi Govt., Arts College, Madurai. On 13th Dec., 2017 Department of Tamil organised a Seminar on Tholliyalum Samooga Varalarum was conducted by the orator Mr. A. MuthuKrishnan. On 18th December, 2017, Life Skills Training Programme was organised by Department of English and the resource person was Mr.Rajeev, Trainer, NAGA Life Skills Training Centre. On 22nd Dec, 2017, Android seminar was conducted by Mr.R.Senthil, Elysium , and was organised by Department of Computer Science.. In the event of National Mathematics Day Celebration on 2nd January, 2018, Dr.V.Meena, Asst., Prof., Dept., of Maths, Madura College, conducted a seminar on History of Ramanujam. Department of Commerce, invited Mr.Narasimha Iyengar, Corporate Trainer and Consultant conducted a seminar titled Personality Development, on 10th January, 2018. A Workshop on APP Development was organised by Department of Computer Science on 11th January, 2018 and the resource person was Mr.G. Arun Ganesh. On 22ndJanuary, 2018 , Dr.M.K.Sivasankari, P.M.T. Arts & Science College, Usilampatti, conducted a seminar on differential equation and its application was organised by Department of Maths. InAssociation with Thiruvilaiyadal Research Centre, Moral

Education session was inaugurated by The Programme Co-Ordinator. Mr. M.Murugesan and The Principal Dr. M.Arunagiri, Mavmm College, on 14th, February, 2018. On 15th February, 2018 a seminar on “Digit All” was organised by the Department of Computer Science and was conducted by Mr.J.K.Muthu, President ,Tamilnadu Merchant Chamber of Commerce Association, Madurai. On 1st March 2018, a workshop on Thiraipadakalaiyum Vimarsanamum” was organised by the Tamil Department , Dr.Prabhakar Vedhamanickam , Asst., Prof, Department of Tamil, The American College was the guest speaker. Mr.S.Sathya Dev, Head, Department of Business Administration, The American College, conducted seminar on Issues & Challenges in Rural [Women] Entrepreneurship on 16th March , 2018 and valedicted the club meet.
Strengthening the alumni association ALUMNI MEET was organised on 9th February ,2018. A good number of alumnae were present.
Intensive bridge course for the freshers and orientation for the parents.
Intensive Bridge Course was organised for the first year students on 3rd, 4th and 5th July, 2018 in all the departments and orientation session for the parents and the freshers about the college and courses.

Department of Commerce organized an International Conference on “Commerce Economics and Management- An interdisciplinary Perspective “on 26 th February, 2018and published 150 papers in Bodhi International Journal of Research in Humanities, Arts and Science (A Peer-Reviewed-Refereed Quarterly Journal with Impact Factor, UGC Approved Journal (J.No. 44274) E-ISSN 2456-5571.

Shri Ramanan Ramanathan, Mission Director & Additional Secretary, ATAL Innovation Mission[AIM], Govt., of India. A-3 day COLLEGE BAZAAR,o n 17th, 18th & 19th April 2018, was organised in association with TAMILNADU STATE RURAL LIVELIHOOD MISSION, MADURAI DISTRICT , which gave an opportunity to know the marketing strategies and knowledge about the product ideas.

Mrs.D.Rajkumari Jeevagan, Chairman, Women Entrepreneur,Mr.K.Magesh Kumar,DGM, India Cements Limited and Dr.DhanaLakshmi, Head, SDC, CED, Madurai presented on Opportunities in Hospitality Sectors for The Development of Tourism Industry, Women Empowerment Current Scenario of MSMES & its Supporting Schemes & Women Entrepreneurship- Opportunities & Challenges respectively.
On 19th January 2018, Department Of Commerce (CA), Business Administration& Commerce, organised A- One Day International Workshop On Recent Trends In Financial Statements – IAS & IFRS Requirements, presented by Dr.G.Nagarajan, Senior Faculty- Accounting & Executive, MBA Programs, School of Business & Public Policy, The Papua University, New Guinea.
On 15th Feb, 2018, International Conference on Data Analytics & Visualization was conducted by Department of Computer Science and the Special Invitee was Mr.D.Sakthi Deepan, IT Analyst, Mother Care Limited- TCS, London.
A State Level Seminar on Recent Trends in Robotics was organised on 28th February 2018. The Guest Speakers were Dr.G. Kanagaraj and Dr.D. Tamilselvi conducted seminars on Artificial Intelligence on Robotics and Forward & Inverse Kinematics on Robot Arm.
On 26th March, 2018 Department of Commerce conducted an International Conference on Commerce, Economics and Management- An Inter-Disciplinary Perspective. The special invitees were Dr.B.Nimalathasan, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna, SriLanka, Mr.V. BalaChandran, Former Registrar, Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
To conduct extension activities by NSS, RRC, YRC & CCC
Besides regular NSS activities awareness rallies are conducted in the adopted villages Thenkarai, – rally on solid waste management, prevention from polio, dengue fever, jaundice fever, was organised on 23rd June, 2017.

Our 200 NSS volunteers cleaned the Vaigai river on 28th Sept 2017, to make the Madurai city as an icon for clean city.
On 13th Oct, 2017 NILA VEMBU syrup was prepared and served to our students to prevent them from dengue fever.
Inauguration ceremony of Swachch Bharath at Thenkarai village was organised on 4th Oct, 2017.
A-7 day’s NSS- special camp was conducted from 4th Oct, to 10th October, 2017 at Thenkarai.
Two blood donation camps were organised in association with Primary Health Care Centre, Samayanallur and MMHRC, Madurai on 28th June 2017 and 24th January, 2018 respectively.
Our NSS volunteers donated blood in the Mega Blood Donation Camp was conducted by Madurai Kamaraj University, on 7th March, 2018.
Inassociation with Central Board of India [short film] Kala Vilambara Thurai, an awareness rally on importance of Aadhar card and drip water irrigation was organised on 12 th Jan, 2018.
CCC celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st July, 2017 by creating an awareness on Yoga and Asanas were demonstrated to the students and values of each and every asana was highlighted.
On 4th august, 2017 International Consumer Day was celebrated at the Collector ate and was chaired by the District Collector.
On 23rd August, 2017 a Consumer Awareness seminar on Packaging, Importance of Bills, Right, Duties of Consumers, Consumer Redressal Agencies, Methods and Procedures was delivered by Honourable Judge Mr.V.Balasundar Kumar, District Consumer Judge, Mr.M.Marakkamalai , Member Judge, Mrs.C.Packialakshmi, Member Judge, District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum And Mrs.C. Meenambal, Member, Consumer Protection Association, Madurai.
RRC organised an awareness programme on HIV and

Dengue Fever on 16th August, 2017 and Speakers were Mrs.P.Anbulakshmi, Mrs.L.Annalakshmi, Primary Health Care Centre, Samayanallur.
Eye Care and Diabetic Awareness Programme was organised by RRC on 14th Dec, 2017 and the session was delivered by dr.Mahendra, Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.
On 24th June 2017, YRC organised a rally to create an awareness on harmful effects of tobacco and it was flagged-off by Mr..J.Joseph, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madurai.
On 28th June, 2017 being the International Day against drug and abuse- human chain was formed to highlight the ill-effects of DRUG ADDICTION at Sholavandan, Thenkarai.
On 20th September, 2017, a mass pledge on swachhta ha seva was administered by the principal, DR.S. RAJESWARI and addressed the students to keep and maintain the environment green and clean.
On account of Flag Day & Communal Harmony Day, on 24th Nov, 2017, Dr..SankaraLingam, HeadMaster, GHSS., Vadipatti, delivered speech on need and necessity of unity, which is the need of the hour.
MR.P.Mohammad Nazar, Director , Yuva Sakthi, HR Institute, addressed our students about the Youth Parliament, on 22nd December, 2017.
Environment awareness rally was organised and the rally was led by MR.G.SELVAM, Inspector of Police, Alanganallur.

On 9th Sept, 2017 ICM – TRIGO-TRIX’17 was organised by Department of Maths and was presided by DR.R. MANGAYARKARASI, HEAD, DEPT., OF MATHS, E.M.G. YADAVA WOMEN’S COLLEGE.
TECHGNOSIS – INTER-COLLEGIATE MEET was organised by Department of Computer Science on 14 th Sept., 2017and the chief guest was MRS.G.SOFIA, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, LADY DOAK COLLEGE and a seminar was conducted on Cloud Computing.
PHOENIX-2K17, an ICM was organised by the Department of English on 19th Sept, 2017 and the occasion was

To enhance sports and games activities and development of sports infra -structure
inaugurated by Dr.S.SUDHA, ASST., PROF., DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH, MADURA COLLEGE .
BXI QUEENTIA –ICM was organised and a paper titled CSR Issues & Challenges was presented by DR.S.RAJU, DIRECTOR OF MBA, THE AMERICAN COLLEGE, on 20TH Sept, 2017.
Inter-Collegiate Meet MERX’ 2017 was organised by Commerce department on 21st Sept, 2017 presided by DR.A.MARTIN DAVID, HEAD, DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, THE AMERICAN COLLEGE.
Department of Physics organised PHYNIX 2017 on 22nd September, 2017 and DR.D. BRINDHA, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, THIYAGARAJA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, presented a paper on DISASTER MANAGEMENT.
Department of TAMIL organised “MUTHAMIZH SARAL VIZHA” an inter-collegiate meet on 23rd Sept, 2017 and POET SAKTHIJOTHI addressed the gathering on “THAMIZHUM VAZHVUM”.
Volley- Ball ground was levelled for regular practice. A part-time coach is appointed to coach volley ball to the players.
Two mobile BADMINTON POSTS were erected to encourage more numbers of players.
Provision of Badminton Racket, Carrom Board, Chess Board, Volley Ball and Medicine Ball of 3kg. and 5kg., so as to tighten the hand muscles and strengthen the power of hand.
To focus on Pre-Placement Training Programme for students by Placement Cell.
Pre-Placement training programme was organised jointly with REDINGTON FOUNDATION and MS.MEGALA KRISHNAN, TRAINER , conducted the training program on inter-personal skills, intra-personal skills, team building, communication skills and group discussion to equip them and also employable.
On 5th and 6th April, 2018, a pre-placement training was organised jointly with GRIPWIT TECHNOLOGIES. The areas of training was voice process and non-voice process as these skills are required to be placed in BPO Companies.

Department of Tamil organised a study tour to GANDHI MUSEUM AND ULAGA THAMIZH SANGAM, Madurai, on 21st July, 2017.
I.V., to 3K MOPS on 25th July 2017 by the Department of Business Administration, GRT RESIDENCY A3 STAR HOTEL, Chettinaad Food Processors, Kappalur on 22nd August 2017 and to Anya Areca Plates Manufacturers & Exporters, Madurai, on 15th December, 2017.
On 26th Sept, 2017 industrial visit to CENTRAL ELECTRO CHEMICAL RESEARCH CENTRE, KARAIKUDI by Maths Department.
Department of Physics organised an educational tour to KUDANGULAM NUCLEAR POWER PLANT on 12th Oct, 2017.
Counselling cell and career guidance cell
On 14th July, 2017 Dr.D.Helen Christina, District Nodal Officer, Virutcham was invited to conduct a seminar on Emotional Intelligence.
DR.A. MANIVANNAN, SUB-INSPECTOR OF POLICE was invited for an awareness program on Women Safety on 20th July, 2017. A seminar on Positive Psychology was conducted by MS. SHARMILA SIRAJ, COUNSELOR and M.S. CHELLAMUTHU TRUST on 26th July, 2017.
A Career Guidance session for Arts students was organised on 6th Feb, 2018 and resource person was DR.S. RAJU, Director, Department of MBA, The American College.

5. Student Support and Progression
5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
• Library is shelved with sufficient number of text books for reference, journal, and magazines to supplement the thrust for the knowledge and inculcate the habit of self-learning.
• Counseling is provided to the needy students which helps them to up come in their studies, career and in personal life.
• Experts are invited to the campus to create awareness about the competitive exams like UPSC. TNPSC. BSRB, RRB and SSC.
Structure for Student Support
• IQAC has played a major role on liason among staff, students and management to share the academic information.
• In every general assembly, the Head of the institution creates the awareness on various programmes and activities .
• To encourage 100% attendance to the students throughout the academic year, a cash prize of Rs.500/- is awarded to them.
• To help the academically weaker and economically needy students, the mentor also contributes to the physical, psychological, social and spiritual development of the students.
• Orientation Day for the Freshers is organised and A-THREE DAY INTENSIVE BRIDGE COURSE is conducted by all the departments and detailed about the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
• The management is granting fee concession to the highest scorer in the HSS EDUCATION and also for the FIRST GENERATION GRADUATE, at the time of admission.

5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression
• The governing Body and the principal along with the HODs looked after the entire process and gave appropriate suggestions for the betterment of academic atmosphere
• Remedial coaching classes for slow learners department-wise. • Advanced learners are motivated by guided self-study, peer group teaching, and
paper presentations at the national / state level, model making, projects, special assignments, seminars and extra reference.
• Students are exposed to in-depth subject knowledge and other multilevel tasks through club activities, seminars and workshops organized by the departments.

• A Seminar on Emotional intelligence by Dr.D.Helen Christina M.Sc.,M.Phil.,B.Ed.,Ph.D.,

• Awareness program on Women Safety by Dr.A.Manivanan,
Sub-Inspector of Police and Ms.Sharmila, Head Counsellor on 20.07.17.
• A Seminar on Positive Psychology by Ms.Sharmila Siraj, Counsellor, M.S.Chellamuthu Trust
on 26.07.17.
• A programme on Relaxation and Meditation Techniques by Mr.M.K.Kishore.
• Placement Cell arranged Job Fair for women was conducted at our college on 25th September
2017 by Rising Stars Mobile India Pvt Ltd through Blue Ocean. The selection process
included pre-placement talk followed by Personal Interview. HR official from Blue Ocean –
Mr.Ramky and Mr.Saravana Kumar were the recruiters. Nearly 250 final year B.Com (CA),
BSc (Physics), BSc (CS) students from our college attended the interview .The number of
offers received by our final year UG students is 108.
• Our students attended the interview for Insmagro, Chennai (OFF CAMPUS) at MCE, Madurai
on 27th October, 2017 and 5students were shortlisted.
• A three days Pre-placement Soft skill training programme was organised jointly with
REDINGTON FOUNDATION, Madurai, Megala Krishnan, Redington foundation, was the
trainer for the program.220 final year students who are interested in getting placed participated
in the training program on 7,8 and11th December, 2017.
• Placement Cell arranged campus recuirment with Future Generali, Coimbatore on 19th
December 2017 and 27 students were selected from our campus on this drive.
• Placement Cell arranged IDBI Federal conducted Campus placement drive for the academic
year 2017- 2018 on 20th December 2017 and 48 students were selected.
• E Care India Private Limited, Tirunelveli was invited for the Campus Placement drive for the
academic year 2017- 2018 on 30th January 2018 and 5 students were offered with job.
• Placement Cell invited Bharathi Oxaliss, Kallakuruchi to conduct Campus placement drive for
the academic year 2017- 2018 on 6th and 7th March 2018 and 5 students were selected.

• Zealous Services, Chennai recruited 27 students through campus placement conducted on 6th April, 2018.
• We organized JOB FAIR 2018 for our students on 7th April, 2018.All final year students
from UG and PG attended the JOB FAIR. 6 companies participated in the JOB FAIR
namely WINWAYS-Madurai, SBL – Madurai, SALCOMP – Chennai, VIRTUCHAM
BPO- Madurai and NS Instruments – AP. A total of 202 offers were received from this Job
fair.

• Our college is only for women. • On 8th March,2018 World Women’s Day was celebrated jointly with Indian Society for Cultural
Cooperation and Friendship(ISCUF) . The highlight on the oceasion was that 15 Russian Women Scientists and Engineers were invited. The gathering was addressed by Mrs.Chitra Ganapathy, Director, Kadambavanam, Mrs. Dr.Anbu Geetha Director of Women Education,Thiyagaraja college Madurai. Moreover,Women achievers Mrs K.Selvamani, Lorry Driver and Mrs S.Dhanam,Post –Women were awarded for their efforts to come-up in their life.

During the academic year (2017-18), Alumni Meeting was conducted by the Alumni Association of our college. This academic year, totally 300 students have participated and we have the practice of collecting feedback from the out gone students every year. This year also the feedback was collected from the out gone students. They have suggested that, in the library more books and journals should be increased. Organizer: Department of Computer Science in Association with TamilNadu Merchant Chamber of Commerce Association
Programme Description
Former Indian President Late Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam said that, the knowledge of “internet” should be taken even to the remotest of all villages in India and making common man more knowledgeable to uplift India was insisted by District Collector K.VeeraRaghava Rao in the inauguration of Digit - all plan of Kalam’s in Kottanathampatti, Melur. The Collector in his special address at the inauguration , said that the Madurai District had been implementing various welfare plans of the Tamil Nadu Government as well as the Central Government. He stressed the need to open SB Account to facilitate them to do banking transactions through internet connectivity. The people in the district had linked their Aadhar numbers with their respective bank accounts, so that the welfare plans of the Government has been reaching the right persons to whom they were opted. Digit-all organisation’s President J.K.Muthu, Young Entrepreneurs Centre’s President V.Needhi Mohan, TamilNadu Merchants Chamber of Commerce President N.Jagadeesan and TamilNadu Industry & Commerce Association’s Chairman S.Rethinavel and various high officials were present at the introduction of Digit-all function. Goals and Objectives of Digit-all The Goal of this programme is to establish knowledge of “Internet” should be taken even to the remotest of all villages in India, making common man more knowledgeable to uplift India. The objectives are shown as follows:
♦ The main aim of the programme is to make everybody in the district, most importantly people in villages aware of the internet and also make them access it and use it for their benefit.
♦ Using the internet, it helps to minimize the time by way of cashless transactions and bank
accounts are opened for every citizen. All transactions would be accounted through this as the Aadhaar numbers were linked with the accounts.

BEST PRACTICE II Title of the Practice:
TOEIC (TEST OF ENGLISH FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION)
Objectives:
Ø To develop communicative skills among the students Ø To improve their LSRW skills in English Language. Ø To expose them to the accents of English language. Ø To equip them in the mastery of English language to match the international standard of
communicative skills.
The Context:
As English proves to be the lingua factor and a universal language, it creates a great demand among the students who learn English as a foreign/ second language. The British and American accents of English are considered to be much popular among the accents of English language. There are international level tests on language like TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) and TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) that are conducted for student aspirants who aim for achieving international standard in their communicative skills and for their higher studies at foreign countries and jobs at international forum. At present, our college has provided a splendid opportunity for the students to experience TOEIC training on campus to enhance their communicative skills at international standard and to gain acknowledgement for the same by providing them international certificate from ETS (Educational Testing Service) from the US, after an international level assessment test in TOEIC ITP (TOEIC Institutional Testing Program). As more than 14,000 MNCs accept TOEIC Certificate, the programme is very much beneficial for the students who aspire to be successful employees at the international job market in future.

The Practice:
TOEIC training programme is offered for all students irrespective of their major and year. In the present academic year, the student beneficiaries are first and second year UG students and first year PG students from all majors. A total number of 39 students volunteered to be trainees for the TOEIC training programme which was held on all Saturdays from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm at the college premises for a total number of 40 hours training programme. The final assessment test was conducted on 18.04.18.
The students were motivated to gain confidence in their communicative skills to cope-up with the international standard and their language-oriented professional skills have improved through the training programme.
Benefits to the Students:
Ø To speak fluently and confidently in English. Ø To listen and read better in the language. Ø To increase the flare for written communication. Ø To face the job market with confidence. Ø To improve their language skills to the international standards.
Conclusion:
TOEIC training programme has not only created awareness on the nuances of English communicative skills at the international forum but has also strengthened the confidence and love for communicative skills among the student beneficiaries to face any English language-oriented situations in future.

Title of the Practice: DRIVING CLASS Programme Description: In present scenario women empowerment plays a vital role in our society. It helps women to stand on their own legs, become independent and also to earn for their family which grows country economic. Our institution team up with Aurick Tech and Vetri Driving school, conducted driving classes for both students and staff. Therefore our institution allotted one hour timing for driving class. Goals and objectives:
ü The aim is to enhance their skills and talents. ü To break the taboo of gender bias. ü To promote self- awareness and self-governing. ü To crack the hesitation, fear and pessimistic attitude.
