WELDING

Canadian Welding Association (CWA) http://www.cwa-acs.org/

The CWA is a not-for-profit division of the CWB Group formed as a national membership driven association, mandated to promoting and supporting the welding and joining industry in Canada. To provide a Canadian forum in which welding professionals, their employers, fabricators and welding- products suppliers are all able to exchange information, share knowledge resources and work with government and regulatory agencies and each other to advance the welding profession, its products and its practices.

The Canadian Welding Bureau was formed by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The purpose of the Welding Bureau is to administer Canada’s national welding standards, which are embedded in the national building code and other industry specific documents. Funded by industry, and acting on behalf of the Canadian public, the Welding Bureau plays an important role by certifying welding companies that create products for use within Canada as well as the welders and welding consumables used in their creation. Within the Structural and erecting industry it is mandatory that all companies be certified by the Welding Bureau however many non-welding companies choose to be voluntarily certified, as the Welding Bureau is the only organization that issues nationally recognized credentials.

Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 254 http://www.ualocal254.ca/

Local Union 254 represents the main pipe fitting trades in and around Manitoba. The offices are based in Winnipeg and represent union labour tradespersons in plumbing, steam fitting, sprinkler fitting, refrigeration and welding. Local 254 is chartered with the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.
