As a participant of the Mannheim MBA, you will face a series of extraordinary challenges. You will become a part of an elite group of high-achievers from across the globe and you will find that being surrounded by peers with impressive goals and ambitions is extreme-ly inspiring. Our participants are, without exception, committed, focused, dedicated and talent-ed. While knowing how to lead, they are also great team players.
Our Multi-Competence Team Concept
One essential element of the MBA program is the team experience. Therefore, the Multi-Competence Team (MCT) concept is applied in all Mannheim Business School programs. As the concept hinges on two basic tenets for an ideal learning experience – diversity and continuity – participants are assigned to heteroge-neous teams at the beginning of their MBA experi-ence. The Multi-Competence Teams stay together for the duration of the program and work together on their social as well as their team project. This forms a major part of the learning process, as project manage-ment, intercultural competence and leadership skills are of utmost importance to successfully complete the joint project.
Your MBA is a time of self-exploration – and your MCTwill help you make the most of this opportunity!

Social Responsibility at the Core
Doing your MBA at Mannheim Business School involves far more than taking classes in Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance or Supply Chain Management. Business ethics and social respon-sibility have always been core elements of our school’s educa-tional concept. That is why the social project is an integral and mandatory part of the Mannheim MBA curriculum.
Innovative Projects
The project should make a positive contribution to society on some level. However, it is up to your individual team to define the scope of your project, as it may pursue any number of goals: educational, promotional, humanitarian or social. The social proj-ect puts your project management abilities to the test and allows you to make a difference in the community. Past projects range from art workshops for children treated at University Hospital Mannheim over introductory internet classes for senior citizens to a blood drive organized on campus.

The Land of Entrepreneurs and Inventors
Germany is not only the land of poets and philosophers, it is also the home of a highly efficient and productive economy. With a population of 82 million, Germany is the largest and most important market in the European Union (EU) and one of the four largest economies in the world. Given its high focus on ex-ports, there is scarcely any other country that is as intertwined with the world economy and interested in open markets as Germany. Its share of total world trade is approximately nine percent.
More than a thousand companies in Germany hold at least a top three position in the world, which is more than any other com-parable economy has to offer. It is not only the major corpora-tions such as Siemens, Volkswagen, Daimler, Adidas, Allianz, SAP and BASF that shape the German business environment, but also tens of thousands of small and medium-sized interna-tionally oriented enterprises.
According to the European Scoreboard, Germany is one of the global innovation leaders and European champion with by far the most patent applications of all European countries. Many German inventions, such as printed books, cars, computers, chip cards and the mp3-format, have changed the world, and Ger-many’s inventive spirit is as strong as ever: The innovative ca-pability of German business proved to be the driving force in recovering from the recent economic crisis.
Due to this inventive spirit, Germany continues to be one of the leading nations in several promising technologies. These include biotechnology, nanotechnology, computer science and other high-tech fields. Furthermore, the leading banking sector in continental Europe is concentrated in Frankfurt/Main where the European Central Bank (ECB), the German Central Bank (Bundesbank) and Deutsche Börse, the national stock exchange, are all headquartered.

Living in Mannheim
At its core, the Mannheim experience is built around an intense team experience. There are countless opportunities to get in-volved in student-led activities outside the classroom, such as sports activities, German language courses, trips to museums and exhibitions as well as student clubs and social events like ka-raoke nights, wine-tasting or student parties. They are a chance to have fun, relax and make friends for life. As our alumni agree: the MBA program is a bonding experience enabling you to build a close-knit network of friendships that last a lifetime.
Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar rivers in one of the sunniest regions of Germany, Mannheim offers numerous possibilities to spend your leisure time: having a cup of coffee in the courtyard of the castle, relaxing in the beautiful Luisen-park, cycling on the banks of the Neckar river, strolling through
the busy shopping streets with their cafés and bars or attending cultural highlights on the “culture mile” with its museums, galleries, concert hall, opera, ballet and theatre. As Mannheim is situated at the heart of Europe, you can easily reach cultural centers in Germany and beyond such as Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris and Strasbourg.
Since its foundation as a city, Mannheim has been a special and cosmopolitan place to live in. It stands out among other cities because of the planned chess board arrangement of square blocks in the city center (“Quadrate”). And the open-minded attitude of the citizens of Mannheim allows new arrivals to feel at home af-ter a very short period of time.
