Mantis World is an ethical clothing company. We specialize in t-shirts for babies, kids
and grown-ups. We’re small but global and passionate about what we do; committed to creating great products which benefit
everyone from our manufacturing partners to those who use them to decorate on.
This brochure features our new collection along with a wealth of surprises. It also
explores what we believe it means to create Well Made Clothing, something we at
Mantis World have been working towards since we began just over 10 years ago.

Well Made: Along with our new collection, we’ve included a number of features that we feel help illustrate why those two simple words are so important to us.
T o us, Well Made Clothing is about having the best possible design, materials and details on a piece of clothing that will be cherished
for years. It’s about getting that perfect feel and fit. It’s about recognizing that there’s a lifecycle for every garment we make and that each part of that garment’s journey – from design to manufacture to delivery and beyond – is an opportunity to benefit everyone involved. For us it’s about using the processes of manufacturing cotton-based garments to have a positive impact on the communities and on the environment in which we work. Crop care, water management and fair wages in Tanzania or Pakistan may seem a million miles away from a cool boutique in New York or a large print factory in London but to us they’re all firmly interlinked. Along with our brand-new collection we’ve included a number of features that we feel help illustrate why those two simple words are so important to us. For us at Mantis World, Well Made Clothing is the only way forward if we are going to continue making product we can be proud of.

We’ve set our standards high. Not only is each garment produced by selected and approved manufacturing partners, each product is also passed through a strict series of checks.
For example all Mantis World fabrics are Oeko-Tex® approved, giving the customer and wearer assurance against any potentially harmful substances being used during the manufacturing process. All our organic garments are GOTS® certified for both fabric and production – from raw materials through production and labelling.
All our fabrics undergo a series of relevant quality tests including dimensional stability (assessing shrinkage), colourfastness and pilling.
To establish what customers are looking for, extensive market research takes place before we begin developing any new products. Each product in our range is trend-resistant and has a long lasting relevance in the marketplace.
Our customers vary from small start-ups to huge brands; functionality is important to all of them regardless of size.
We ensure that key decoration areas are always free from seaming or styling details to allow for print or embroidery.

‘Zero Branding’ is the exciting new labelling system from Mantis World. Each new style since 2011 has a neutral tear-away neck label to make relabelling even easier and offer a completely blank neck space for customers to sew in their own label or apply a print. The double washcare label will also offer customers the opportunity to decide what information they want to keep as the top label will have different sections that can be cut away, or the whole top label can be cut out, leaving a completely ‘blank’ washcare and composition label with no mention of any other brand anywhere. For the first time the ‘Zero Branding’ system will allow customers to offer a garment that looks completely customized but with the high quality and peace of mind they have come to expect from Mantis World.
No Logo: i capi Mantis World dispongono soltanto di una piccola etichetta con la taglia cucita sul collo e priva di marchio. Ciò consente ai clienti di mantenere tale etichetta, che essendo priva di marchio può essere personalizzata. L’etichetta con le istruzioni di lavaggio attaccata alla cucitura laterale del capo è caratterizzata da un logo “Mantis World” quasi invisibile che ne garantisce l'autenticità.
No Logo: Kennzeichnet Mantis World-Modelle, welche ein kleines, neutrales Nackenetikett besitzen, auf dem ausschließlich die Größe vermerkt ist. Das Nackenlabel kann somit beibehalten werden, da unser Markenname nicht darauf erscheint – perfekt für ein personalisiertes Kleidungsstück. Das Pflegeetikett an der Seitennaht ist mit einem dezenten, Mantis World“-Logo gekennzeichnet, um die Echtheit zu garantieren.

L’étiquette des consignes d’entretien, dans une couture latérale, porte un logo « Mantis World » discret qui garantit l’authenticité du vêtement.
Zero Branding: “ZERO branding” es el novedoso sistema de etiquetado de Mantis World. Cada nuevo diseño desde 2011 dispone de una etiqueta neutra en el cuello que se puede arrancar para que el nuevo etiquetado de las prendas resulte más fácil y así ofrecer un espacio en el cuello completamente en blanco para que los clientes cosan su propia etiqueta o apliquen una impresión. La etiqueta doble de instrucciones de lavado también ofrecerá a los clientes la oportunidad de decidir qué información quieren mantener ya que la etiqueta principal contará con diferentes secciones que se pueden cortar. También se puede cortar la etiqueta principal completa y dejar una etiqueta con las instrucciones de lavado y la composición completamente en blanco, que no hace mención a la marca por ningún sitio. El sistema “Zero branding” permitirá a los clientes ofrecer por primera vez una prenda que parece totalmente personalizada pero con la gran calidad y la seguridad que esperan de Mantis World.

Markennamen erwähnt. Dank, Zero Branding“ können Kunden erstmalig ein völlig personalisiertes Kleidungsstück anbieten – in der gewohnt hohen Qualität und mit dem gutem Gewissen, das sie beim Kauf von Mantis World-Produkten haben können.

FIBRE COMPOSITION
'No Logo' refers to Mantis World garments that have a small unbranded size-only neck label. This gives customers the possibility of keeping the neck label in as it is, unbranded – perfect for a personalized garment. The washcare label in the side seam has a subtle Mantis World logo to guarantee its authenticity.
Zero branding: “ZERO branding” è il nuovo e straordinario sistema di etichettatura di Mantis World. Tutti i nuovi capi dal 2011 hanno un’etichetta neutra staccabile sul collo per rendere la rietichettatura ancora più semplice e disporre di uno spazio completamente libero sul retro del collo per consentire ai clienti di cucirvi la propria etichetta o di applicarvi delle stampe. La doppia etichetta con le istruzioni di lavaggio offre inoltre ai clienti la possibilità di decidere il tipo di informazioni che desiderano mantenere poiché la parte superiore dispone di diverse sezioni che possono essere tagliate. L’intera etichetta superiore può, in alternativa, essere rimossa lasciando così soltanto quella con la composizione d ei tessuti e le istruzioni di lavaggio completamente “pulite”, senza riferimenti a nessun altro marchio. Per la prima volta il sistema “Zero branding” consentirà ai clienti di offrire un capo dall’aspetto completamente personalizzato ma con la qualità elevata e la sicurezza che si aspettano da Mantis World.

Chaque nouveau modèle depuis 2011 est muni d’une étiquette de col neutre, à détacher, qui facilitera un nouvel étiquetage du vêtement : cet emplacement une fois libéré, le client pourra y coudre sa propre étiquette ou y appliquer un transfert. La double étiquette d’entretien permettra aux clients de choisir les informations qu’ils souhaitent conserver, car les différentes sections de l’étiquette du haut pourront être découpées. Le client pourra également couper l’étiquette du haut toute entière, ce qui aura pour effet de laisser une étiquette d’entretien et de composition complètement vierge, sans aucune marque nulle part. Grâce au système « Zero branding », les clients disposeront d’un vêtement complètement personnalisé en apparence, mais bénéficiant toujours de la haute qualité qu’ils attendent de Mantis World, pour une parfaite tranquillité d’esprit.

Interview with Dylis Williams
‘We can't just sit with
the old business models
and not adapt’
art of the London College of Fashion, the Centre for Sustainable Fashion has been run by Dylis Williams since it was founded in
2007. A designer herself, Dylis is fully aware of the hurdles confronting people working within the industry. We sat down with Dylis to discuss some of the ways in which she feel those challenges are being met and the way in which the Centre for Sustainable Fashion is helping facilitate change within the fashion industry.
What kind of people are involved with the department within the university?We attract a whole variety of students, essentially people really wanting to challenge the current fashion system: people interested in climate change and social issues, for example. There are also people who have been in the industry for some time – went into the industry full of optimism, seen the negative sides of it and now want to find something that will continue that optimism. People who look at the fashion industry and think there’s got to be a better way than this!
Would you count yourself among these people?Yes, definitely. Working at Hamnett, I’d already become involved in projects and campaigns around ethical practice. One of the reasons I got more involved here was because I suddenly thought it isn’t just all about organic cotton – organic cotton isn’t the end of it. I started to think about the way that we
approach our work and the way we work together, collaboratively. This seemed like an amazing opportunity to develop some of those ideas on a practical level.
Isn’t fashion at its core at odds with issues like sustainability and ethical practice?Not really. The basis of what fashion is about is absolutely in sync with sustainability and ethical practices or ecological issues because fashion is about constantly evolving and changing. The world is changing, our resources are changing and our under- standing of what’s going on in the world has changed too. And so business has to change. We can’t just sit with the old business models and not adapt. The fast fashion consumption-production model has been amazingly successful and it still is – but in the longer term, everyone knows that it’s not a model that can last.
There’s obviously a resistance to this – maybe a kind of denial even. Where does that come from?I think every one of us has an interest in seeing that change through, but the way economies are set out, unfortunately a lot of what we do is determined by short-term demands. So although people are aware of the fact that the system needs a complete review, a lot of people are just looking at simply making efficiencies within the system – trying to cut down on the amount of stuff we consume, the amount of stuff we waste – rather than looking at totally new approaches. In a way that’s where we get a little bit of a language barrier.

You say they need to make a change in their business behaviour, they say they are...?Yes. But we’ve already had conversations with huge, mass-producing companies who are thinking about what happens when they can’t produce stuff anymore. Ultimately there are very few people with their heads in the sand thinking we can just keep churning out more stuff.
Is your focus on the big companies or are you also speaking with smaller ones? We have a dialogue with people across the board. If anything, we are more able to work with smaller businesses because our key activity as a university is working with students and graduates some of whom are keen to start up their own businesses. But big established businesses have more resources for research and development and for developing things themselves. Some of the big businesses are doing quite interesting things and often our role there is to agitate at the edge – highlighting opportunities and considerations that are often missed by them.
In what way does that pan out?There are a lot of companies doing some amazing things in their technical departments. But it’s surprising to see that these companies – while doing a lot from a manufacturing point of view – are not actually doing much around the culture of design and design thinking.
So your role can be helping these companies translate what they're learning into areas such as wearability and usability?Yes. When I trained as a designer I really did only think about getting it to the shop floor or the showroom and didn’t really think about it beyond that. You did a drawing, You picked the fabric. You looked at the piece on a fit model. You thought it would work as an item for people you envisaged would come into the store. But that was it. Now designers are increasingly thinking about that piece having a life and designing a product informed by what happens to it during that whole lifespan even beyond the end of its initial purpose as a garment. And that’s allowing for a whole new set of opportunities to emerge around design.
The afterlife of a garment. Doesn’t that dent the aspirational, the romantic side of fashion design?
I think it’s the complete opposite. If you design something, put your ideas, time and creativity into it, you don’t want it to just be discarded. It’s incredibly rewarding if you see someone wearing a piece you designed ten years before and it still looks great. If you think about how a piece is going to look after ten years, then maybe you’ll design it better, differently. I read an interview with a designer the other day who said, ‘I’d love to design things that will outlive me.’ That’s not the norm – yet.
I guess deep down most designers want some kind of Coco Chanel-type status, but that needs to be built into the design – it doesn’t happen by accident. How does that figure with a commodity item like the cotton t-shirt?Of course, if you’re designing cotton t-shirts, then you’re going to have a different set of parameters from, say, a coat that only has to be washed twice a year. Considerations like its biodegradability – can you literally plant it, can it become fertilizer when you’ve finished it? – come into play here. I think we have to accept that there are going to be some things that have long lifespans and some that are going to be shorter, and the parameters which you use to define good, well-made product are different for each.
When people think of ethical product they often imagine taupe or green or some kind of fluffy, earthy image – anything that seems at total odds with real forward-facing fashion.It’s an important point. We’ve done a lot of work making sure that all our communication is visually
strong and that it doesn’t fit into that preconceived aesthetic around sustainability in fashion. I think that preconceived aesthetic has been somewhat detrimental over the years. It has a place, of course, because a lot of the pioneers in sustainability have come from social or environmental backgrounds. But you’ve also got to have an aesthetic that stands up on its own, one that is just drop-dead gorgeous and has an impact in its own right. Alex, one of our team, has been doing a project which features in i-D magazine every issue and it’s really important to us in that not only is it underscored by a beautiful aesthetic but also that it relates to lots of other beautiful aesthetics. It should reflect the various designers’ values and visions too. That’s important to us and I hope that those things have had an influence over how people perceive us and maybe see ideas around sustainably as a whole. But who knows, maybe you ought to speak to someone else and find out!
On a much more basic level, does say the rise in the current price of cotton have any impact on what you do, on your dialogue with businesses and designers?It does because it’s another example of the production-consumption model that’s based on being able to sell huge amounts of stuff at a low cost. We know that resources are going to become less easy to find – whether it’s oil or whether it’s cotton and any number of other source materials – but people tend to think it’s a long way off. Suddenly you have a situation where the cotton price has gone up; people stop and think, ‘Oh, it’s happening now.’ Sure, they might tell themselves it’s just a bad harvest and things will be OK in a couple of years, but the reality is they can’t do their costings and get a t-shirt out at three pounds each and sell 5,000 of them. It’s a reality check which we argue should give you cause to look not simply at moving over to organic cotton, but to reviewing your whole strategy – question how your whole business model works.
As a ‘developing area’, do you see any opportunities for a new business model when it comes to, say, African fashion?In terms of Africa, one of the things I’m concerned about as part of my work is the hierarchical nature of the industry where you have, for example, the buyer going out and giving instructions without any consideration for the locality or the culture within which they’re looking to operate. If you work
collaboratively, have someone who has a particular skill sit down with a designer and a buyer, for example, and build from there, you have the opportunity to create something that’s better made and more rewarding to all those involved. One of my research projects is called Shared Talent; it’s based on the idea of bringing everyone together on an equal footing.
I guess one example of that is the Inoue Brothers going off and sitting with craftspeople in Khayelitsha. In Cape Town communities even of Hiroki Nakamura from Visvim working with Navajo Indians in supposedly developed areas like the US.Yes, and that really is ethics in practice because you’re not just giving someone good working conditions, you’re actually giving them a prominence in the work which is equal to the prominence of the person whose name’s on the label. I think that’s really interesting
and important and I think that’s where we have some of the problems at the other end. If people are so defined by this traditional hierarchy it’s harder to work collaboratively. It works best when that kind of exclusion doesn’t happen, where everybody in the process is recognized for his or her contribution.
Fashion is inherently contradictory. The minute people start accepting the logic of sustainability, fashion designers will go the other way. They’ll celebrate glamour, indulgence and waste – just because we can.But I think they can’t. I understand exactly what you’re saying, but being extreme can’t be at the expense of being relevant. And if you’re not relevant as a designer what are you? Relevance is the bottom line.

Concept Worn By. A well-thought-out concept that takes a high-quality tee and turns it into a shared piece of music and cultural heritage. We began to work with Worn By from their very earliest days. It was an idea that appealed to us. Capturing some of the most iconic moments in rock’n’roll history, it celebrated the culture of tees – putting the tee at the centre of its

DurabilityA very early piece of American sportswear, made by Lowe & Campbell of Kansas, who manufactured sporting goods from the early 1920s until 1931, when they were acquired by Wilson. It still exists partly through chance but also by virtue of the quality of material and construction invested in it all those decades ago. The felt lettering, the ribbed trim around the neck, sleeves and sides are all familiar elements of t-shirts and sportswear today, and yet nothing can be found of the team or even the sport to which this actual shirt belonged. This shirt seems to have outlived its own history.
story. Not only did the tee have to have a certain cut, fit and handle, it also had to be made ethically. They were keen to have powerful, relevant statements on the tees and within them too. At Mantis World, that is music to our ears.

Can you market ethical product
to a cool young consumer?
oung consumers have very core questions when it comes to product and brands – will it make me look good, convey the right image? Will it work?
Lesson One: Don’t let a brand’s ethical value allow you to deliver a bad product solution because it’ll backfire on you. I think people are a little bit selfish when they’re younger – we become more ethically conscious when we mature. So you’ve got to think of relevant ethics; how is the product you produce going to make a person their age better off? That’s a tangible concept for them to get their head around rather than presenting them with abstract ideas about carbon footprints and emissions. You want to make everything relevant and interesting to them. Whatever you do, when you’re speaking to younger consumers, be real and be authentic. In all my time working in marketing I’ve learned to stand up for what you believe in and never deviate from that. The minute you try and be ‘down with the yoof’, they sniff it a mile away. So be very clear about your agenda up-front, know what you stand for, be courageous and ask yourself about the ‘So What? Factor’ – why should
this really matter to them? A kid will say – I’m 18 years old, what has that got to do with me? If you can answer that question yourself with complete honesty then you’ll be able to decide whether the ethics of your brand are worth talking about and also what it is about those ethics that are worth talking about. My gut feeling is that the world is in a kind of flux, everything now is being questioned – from what government should be to how brands should behave and what contribution an individual should be giving to their society. One thing that’s becoming extremely clear is that the world is increasingly interdependent. Europe’s future is hugely dependent on how well Brazil, Africa, India and China develop over the next 10 to 20 years – these are Europe’s future consumers. So the health of the UK and Europe depends on these emerging markets. Once that becomes more prevalent as an idea, people in the West are going to care more and take more of an interest in the lives and wellbeing of people in those emerging markets. I think in that respect the world is going to get smaller and people are going to want to know how companies and governments are acting abroad a lot more.

Meet shirt collector Alex
We met Alex on the Mantis World shoot. He was one of the assistants of Timur, our photographer. Each day he’d arrive with a tee that was even more enviable than the one he’d had the day before. We asked Alex what he, as a stylish young collector, thought constituted a Well Made tee.
Yeah, it’s more a hobby than an obsession, I’d say. I’ve been collecting them for about nine months, but I don’t really go to shops to get them, though – too expensive. I tend to buy them on eBay, which can be a bit laborious – you basically have to do a really wide search and then just keep scrolling down for ages and then suddenly you’ll find something that’s really nice. I look for something that’s quite graphic, eye-catching. Usually it’s about something that I’m into at the time, like recently I really got into cycling and have started buying lots of cycling tops. They're really colourful with all the logos and sponsorships on them. They have to be extra large – although I’m a medium, it’s best to wear them oversized and tucked in, I find.
The price doesn’t really matter – especially if you get them on eBay – setting yourself a limit is pointless once you start bidding for something you want. Maybe the most I tend to pay for a t-shirt is around 15, maybe 20 pounds. Ideally I like to get them as cheap as possible – the best price is 99 p, when there’s no one else bidding for them; that’s when you know you’ve got a bargain. My tastes change. I recently ruined half my collection; about three months ago I got into wearing my t-shirts with the collars cut off; but I’m beginning to really like them with the collar again. I might start getting into plain tees. I bought a plain white extra-large t-shirt the other day; I’m really enjoying wearing that at the moment. On the other hand, I got a great t-shirt this morning – from the original TV series Beverly hills 90210. It arrived from Mexico this morning. Thinking about it, if I'm getting t-shirts delivered from Mexico maybe this is a bit of an obsession after all.

Per noi si tratta di utilizzare la produzione di capi di cotone per avere un impatto positivo sulle comunità e sull'ambiente in cui lavoriamo. La cura del raccolto, la gestione delle risorse idriche e i salari equi in Tanzania o in Pakistan potrebbero sembrare lontani milioni di chilometri da un’elegante boutique di New York o un grande stabilimento di Londra, ma per noi sono strettamente collegati tra di loro. Nella nostra nuovissima collezione abbiamo inserito alcune caratteristiche che, secondo noi, aiutano a spiegare perché queste due semplici parole ci stiano così a cuore. Per noi di Mantis World, un capo d’abbigliamento ben fatto rappresenta l’unica soluzione se vogliamo continuare a produrre articoli di cui essere orgogliosi.
Collezione Mantis Organic 2012Il cotone biologico è considerato una delle fibre più sostenibili nella produzione di articoli tessili; la sua coltivazione richiede meno acqua d'irrigazione, non utilizza pesticidi o fertilizzanti chimici nocivi né OGM e i coltivatori ne ricavano un prezzo equo. Nel 2005 Mantis World ha presentato per la prima volta la propria linea Organic, che utilizza cotone biologico certificato e coltivato localmente in Tanzania. Rimaniamo fedeli al nostro impegno di utilizzare cotone biologico espandendo la nostra linea Organic e aggiungendo nuovi colori e 3 nuovi stili alla collezione 2012. La nostra produzione di capi biologici con certificazione 100% GOTS® (dalle materie prime fino alla produzione e all’etichettatura) si è ora estesa fino al Bangladesh, oltre alla Tanzania, a dimostrazione del nostro continuo impegno a favore degli standard in materia di produzione biologica. Il cotone biologico è meglio per tutti coloro che sono coinvolti: i coltivatori, l’ambiente e chi lo indossa.
etichettatura: Privi di logo: i capi Mantis World dispongono soltanto di una piccola etichetta con la taglia cucita sul collo e priva di marchio. Ciò consente ai clienti di mantenere tale
etichetta, che essendo priva di marchio può essere personalizzata. L’etichetta con le istruzioni di lavaggio attaccata alla cucitura laterale del capo è caratterizzata da un logo “Mantis World” quasi invisibile che ne garantisce l'autenticità.Zero branding: “ZERO branding” è il nuovo e straordinario sistema di etichettatura di Mantis World. Tutti i nuovi capi del 2011 avranno un’etichetta neutra staccabile sul collo per rendere la rietichettatura ancora più semplice e disporre di uno spazio completamente libero sul retro del collo per consentire ai clienti di cucirvi la propria etichetta o di applicarvi delle stampe.La doppia etichetta con le istruzioni di lavaggio offre inoltre ai clienti la possibilità di decidere il tipo di informazioni che desiderano mantenere poiché la parte superiore dispone di diverse sezioni che possono essere tagliate. L’intera etichetta superiore può, in alternativa, essere rimossa lasciando così soltanto quella con la composizione dei tessuti e le istruzioni di lavaggio completamente “pulite”, senza riferimenti a nessun altro marchio.
Per la prima volta il sistema “Zero branding” consentirà ai clienti di offrire un capo dall’aspetto completamente personalizzato ma con la qualità elevata e la sicurezza che si aspettano da Mantis World.

What is Well Made Clothing?(Qu’est-ce qu’un vêtement bien fait?)Pour nous c’est avoir la meilleure coupe possible, les meilleurs tissus et les détails d’un vêtement qui sera apprécié et porté pendant des années. C’est également la sensation d’un vêtement qui vous va comme un gant. C’est aussi reconnaître que chaque vêtement que nous produisons a un cycle de vie et qu’à chaque étape de ce cycle – du design à la livraison, et au delà – il existe des opportunités pour tous les acteurs de cette chaine de production. Pour nous, c’est l’utilisation de procédés de production de vêtements en coton qui ont un effet positif sur les communautés et l’environnement dans lesquels nous travaillons. Le respect des récoltes, la gestion de l’irrigation et des salaires équitables en Tanzanie et au Pakistan, sont peut êtres des préoccupations insignifiantes pour une boutique huppée de New York ou un grosse usine de production a Londres, mais pour nous elles sont primordiales. Notre nouvelle collection comporte plusieurs détails qui démontrent cette philosophie et l’importance que nous apportons à un vêtement bien fait. Pour Mantis World, un vêtement bien fait est la raison pour laquelle nous produisons des vêtements dont nous sommes fiers.
Mantis Collection Organique 2012Le coton organique est considéré come l’une des fibres les plus durables dans la production textile – il nécessite moins d’eau, aucun pesticide néfaste ou engrais chimique, il est sans OGM et les producteurs sont assurés d’un prix avantageux. Mantis World a lancé sa collection organique en 2005, utilisant uniquement du coton organique de Tanzanie certifié et produit localement. Nous maintenons notre engagement à utiliser du coton organique et nous élargissons notre gamme organique; nous avons rajouté des nouvelles couleurs et trois nouveaux styles à la collection 2012. Notre certification vêtements organiques 100% GOTS - des matières premières à l’étiquetage, en passant par la production – inclus maintenant le Bengladesh en plus de la Tanzanie, dans le cadre du maintient de notre engagement envers les normes de production raisonnée. Le coton organique est bénéfique pour tout le monde: les producteurs, l’environnement et le consommateur final.
etiquetage: No Logo : il s’agit de vêtements Mantis world dont la petite étiquette dans le col mentionne la taille sans afficher de marque. Les clients peuvent ainsi choisir de garder cette étiquette telle quelle, sans mention de marque, ce qui conviendra parfaitement à un vêtement personnalisé. L’étiquette des consignes d’entretien, dans une couture latérale, porte un logo « Mantis World » discret qui garantit l’authenticité du vêtement. Zero branding : « ZERO branding » est le nouveau système d’étiquetage, très futé, de Mantis World. Chaque nouveau modèle 2011 sera muni d’une étiquette de col neutre, à détacher, qui facilitera un nouvel étiquetage du vêtement : cet emplacement une fois libéré, le client pourra y coudre sa propre étiquette ou y appliquer un transfert. La double étiquette d’entretien permettra aux clients de choisir les informations qu’ils souhaitent conserver, car les différentes sections de l’étiquette du haut pourront être découpées. Le client pourra également couper l’étiquette du haut toute entière, ce qui aura pour effet de laisser une étiquette d’entretien et de composition complètement vierge, sans aucune marque nulle part. Grâce au système « Zero branding », les clients disposeront d’un vêtement complètement personnalisé en apparence, mais bénéficiant toujours de la haute qualité qu’ils attendent de Mantis World, pour une parfaite tranquillité d’esprit.

What is Well Made Clothing (Was ist gut gemacht Kleidung?)Für uns geht es dabei um die Verbindung der bestmöglichen Schnitte, Materialien und Details zu einem Kleidungsstück, an dem Sie viele Jahre Ihre Freude haben werden. Es soll sich toll anfühlen und muss perfekt passen. Wir sind der Meinung, dass jedes von uns hergestellte Stück Kleidung einen eigenen Lebenszyklus hat und dass jeder Lebensabschnitt dieses Produktes – von der Entwicklung über die Produktion bis hin zur Auslieferung und sogar noch darüber hinaus – allen Mitwirkenden die Möglichkeit bietet, davon zu profitieren. Es geht uns darum, die Prozesse der Baumwoll-Textilherstellung so zu nutzen, dass sie sich positiv auf die Gemeinschaften und die Umwelt, in der wir arbeiten, auswirken. Verantwortungsvoller Anbau, der sorgsame Umgang mit Wasser oder faire Löhne in Tansania und Pakistan scheinen Millionen von Meilen von einer coolen Boutique in New York oder einer großen Druckerei in London entfernt zu sein, aber für uns sind sie alle untrennbar miteinander verbunden. Neben unserer brandneuen Kollektion beinhaltet dieser Katalog eine Reihe von Berichten, die unserer Meinung nach verdeutlichen, warum diese zwei einfachen Worte „well made“ so wichtig für uns sind. Die Mantis Bio-Kollektion 2012Bio-Baumwolle gilt als eine der nachhaltigsten Fasern innerhalb der Textilherstellung – sie wird kaum künstlich bewässert, es werden keine schädlichen Pflanzenschutzmittel oder chemischen Dünger verwendet, sie ist nicht genmanipuliert und die Bauern erzielen damit einen höheren Erlös. Mantis World hat erstmalig im Jahr 2005 eine Kollektion aus Bio-Baumwolle eingeführt, unter Nutzung von zertifizierter, vor Ort in Tansania biologisch angebauter Baumwolle. Wir machen uns auch weiterhin für die Verwendung von Bio-Baumwolle stark und erweitern unsere Bio-Kollektion im Jahr 2012 um neue Farben und 3 neue Modelle. Neben Tansania haben wir unsere herstellung von GOTS®-zertifizierter Bio-Kleidung - vom Rohstoff bis hin zur Produktion und Etikettierung – jetzt auch auf Bangladesch ausgedehnt und verpflichten uns damit auch zukünftig zur Einhaltung von Bio-Richtlinien. Baumwolle aus biologischem Anbau ist besser für alle Beteiligten – für die Bauern, für die Umwelt und für denjenigen, der das Kleidungsstück am Ende trägt.

Das Nackenlabel kann somit beibehalten werden, da unser Markenname nicht darauf erscheint – perfekt für ein personalisiertes Kleidungsstück. Das Pflegeetikett an der Seitennaht ist mit einem dezenten „Mantis World“-Logo gekennzeichnet, um die Echtheit zu garantieren. Zero branding: Mit „ZERO branding“ präsentiert Mantis World eine ganz neue Art der Etikettierung. Alle 2011 eingeführten Modelle besitzen ein neutrales, abreißbares Nackenlabel, welches das Umetikettieren noch einfacher macht und Kunden einen komplett leeren Nackenraum zum Einnähen von eigenen Labels oder zum Bedrucken bietet.Mit dem doppelten Pflegeetikett haben Kunden außerdem die Möglichkeit zu entscheiden, welche Informationen sie zeigen wollen, da das obere Etikett aus verschiedenen Bereichen besteht, die abgeschnitten werden können. We’ve seen the ethical clothing industry help change the way people think; not just about the lives of those people who make their clothes in remote parts of the world, but also about the quality and origin of the garments themselves.
