As it is not possible to rely on hardware such as net-work cables (in a LAN) or household wiring (in adLAN) to control access to a WLAN, wireless net-working naturally presents special security challen-ges. WLANs therefore use a number of securitymeasures, such as a concealed network name, dataencryption and access control via the MAC addres-ses of the network adapters.

In many countries, Wi-Fi is alsoused synonymously with WLAN, which if takenstrictly, is incorrect, because Wi-Fi designates thewireless standard and WLAN the wireless network.

Automatic disconnection If you enable the Automatic disconnection opti-on, the wireless network is not switched off untilthe last station has logged off.

Manually switching the device on and off (usinga button) always has priority over automatictime control. The configured time control thentakes effect automatically during the next defi-ned time period.

4.4.6Parental controlYou can regulate WiFi access for specific devicesbased on time using this function. For instance, toprevent your children from using the Internetexcessively, you can define how long they may usethe WiFi per day. Synchronisation with an(Internet) time server is necessary to be able to usethe parental control. In this case, the time server(System Management Time Server (NTP))for the dLAN 1200+ WiFi ac ac has to be enabledand an active Internet connection is also required.

The time server pool.ntp.org is enabled by de-fault. You can find more information in Chapter 4.7.2 Management.
