TIFT Table

Overview

The Time Initiated Function Table (TIFT) table consists of three separate tables:

• Shell Table: contains the Sabre® global distribution system entry

• Routing Table: contains the teletype or printer address to which the entry is generated

• Activation Control Table: contains the time the entry is to be generated

The items in each table are cross referenced by the entry number in the Shell Table. When adding the destination address to the Routing Table, the entry number from the Shell Table is for the entry being referenced. The same is true with the Activation Control Table.

There is an internal timer function in the Sabre GDS that searches the tables every 60 seconds and locates the items to be worked.

History is maintained for all items in TIFT. When an item's discontinue date equals today's date, that item is moved to the TIFT history record.

The types of Sabre GDS entries which may be added to the Shell Table include:

• Passenger Name List (PNL)/ Additional Deletion List (ADL)

• Name Lists (LD, LS, LW, etc. – cannot include name lists that require off points.)

• Inventory Display Entries

• Catering Messages

• On-line Reports (TMR)

• BMAS Reports

• The following ACSI entries:

o GFIPRS: take control of seating in ACSI

o GNL: get names from reservations on Sabre-hosted flights, or send request for PNL for non Sabre-hosted flights

o These GC flight status change entries: GCT, GCO, GCD, GCD/XI, GCD/XO (TIFT is not recommended for any other GC - type flight status change entries)

o Any G*P -type passenger display entries to be sent to a printer

Note: Refer to F*REM/TIFT/PERMITTED/ENTRIES for entry details and exceptions.

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation November, 2007 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Inc. 1

Page 6: Manual Tablas TIFT

There must be an item in each of the three tables in order for TIFT to be activated.

The tables must be updated in the following order:

1. Shell Table

2. Routing Table

3. Activation Control Table

The Routing and Activation Control Table contain commuter specific items. When an item is added into these tables, the commuter number of the issuing agent’s AAA is copied into the new item.

When an item on these tables is updated, the system verifies that the commuter number in the issuing agent’s AAA matches the item to be updated. As a result, an agent from one commuter cannot update information created by another commuter airline agent.

Examples of TIFT Items

Below are two examples of items that may be added to TIFT. A brief description of each entry and meaning is given. Detailed information for each entry is discussed in the following pages.

Example 1

If a PNL needs to be sent for every flight and board point to a specific teletype address for check-in purposes and that PNL must be sent three hours before flight departure, the following three entries must be performed:

T/S/A 4GP.FLT./.DTE..BRDALL./PNL

This entry is to add a new item to the Shell Table. For the purposes of this example, assume the entry shell number is 1.

T/R/A 1/HDQRMYY

This entry is to add a new item to the Routing Table. This says that the answers for entry shell number 1 must be sent to HDQRMYY.

T/C/A 1/1-999/-3

This entry is to add a new item to the Activation Control Table. This says the entry shell number 1 must be generated for flights 1 through 999, three hours before departure. Since no additional information is added, the system assumes daily starting today.

Using the example above, if the PNL of every flight departing from JFK needs to be sent to HDQRMYY and JFKRRYY, one additional entry is required in the Routing Table.

T/R/A 1/JFK/HDQRMYY/JFKRRYY

This entry says that each entry shell number 1 must be sent to HDQRMYY and JFKRRYY if the board point is JFK. The system keeps sending the entry shell number 1 with other board points to HDQRMYY only.

2 TIFT Table Sabre Airline Solutions Training Curriculum November 2007

Page 7: Manual Tablas TIFT

Example 2

If the Advance Booking Report must be sent every Monday morning at 6AM to HDQZZYY, the following three entries must be performed:

T/S/A TMR1

This defines the format of the entry. Assume the system assigns the number two to this entry.

T/R/A 2/HDQYYZZ

This defines the address where the answer must be sent.

T/C/A 2/0600/M

This defines when the entry must be generated.

The following is the entry to add the Sabre GDS entry to generate a PNL (4GP FLT/DATE BRD/PNL) to the Shell Table.

T/S/A4GP.FLT./DTE..BRDALL/PNL <Enter>

T/S/A4GP.200./.1MAY..BRDALL./PNL <Enter>

Entry Explanation

T/ Primary action code for TIFT Table.

S/ Designator for the Shell Table.

A Action code to Add.

4GP The system entry to required to generate a PNL.

.FLT. Period followed by flight number and then another period.

/ Separator.

.DTE. Period followed by the date and then a period.

.BRDALL. Period followed by the variable BRDALL and period.

/ Separator

PNL the system entry required to generate a PNL.

The system response is: DONE.

Notes:

• The entry can include up to 45 characters.

• There are no checks to insure the entry is a valid Sabre GDS entry.

• When using the variables, (BRD, DTE, FLT) the variable must be preceded and followed by a period (.)

• The system does not edit the entry for format accuracy; therefore it is important to verify accuracy as you enter the information on this table.

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation November, 2007 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Inc. 5

Page 10: Manual Tablas TIFT

Below are the variables which are used in the Entry Shell Table:

Variables Explanation

.FLT. This keyword is used to indicate the flight number. The flight number is referenced in the Activation Control Table.

.DTE. Designator for the Shell Table.

.DTE‡n. This keyword is used to indicate the current date plus a number of days up to 9, for example .DTE‡2. (This example would generate the entry two days in advance of a flight departure.)

.DTE-n This keyword is used to indicate the current date minus a number of days up to 9, for example .DTE-9. (This example would generate the entry for a flight operating 9 days previous to today’s date.)

.BRDxxx If the entry applies to one specific boardpoint, you would use the BRD and 3-letter city code, for example .BRDJFK..

.BRDALL. If the entry applies to each boardpoint, the user would use .BRDALL.

.ALCxx If the entry requires an airline code (the entry is being sent to OA), the user must use this variable and the 2-character airline code. For example .ALCBA (BA for British Airways). This keyword alerts TIFT of the presence of another airline code and processes the flight number accordingly.

• If the time is not entered and the entry is not flight related, 1200 GMT is assumed. If not entered and the entry is flight related, departure time (‡0) is assumed.

Commuter Number

The system adds the commuter number from the agent's AAA in the new added item. The system also checks that the entry exists in the Shell Table.

Note: All the parameters after the entry identifier may be entered in any order.
