The District has already included the drainage for the playground area in the project and has pledged another $68,855 to pay for the poured-in-place surface. What remains is a cost of $168,855 for the playground equipment and installation. Realizing that this effort will require a significant district investment, we are targeting a Summer 2020 installation. We are making wonderful strides and appreciate every dollar given and every hour of volunteer time donated to realize Maple’s All-Inclusive Playground. At this time, our PTO effort has raised approximately $38,000. Combining this with other District 30 resources, we have a total of $105,682 for this important project. Included Equipment for Maples’ All-Abilities Playground: Drop Shot, Omni Spin, Swing (Donated by the phillybaerfoundation.org/) Saddle Spinners (3), Sway Fun, Omni Spin, Lunar Blast, Gaga Pit, Poured-in-Place Ground Cover.

NATIONALLY TELEVISED SPEAKER COMING TO WESCOTT The Wescott PTO is very excited to have been able to re-secure a date for Leon Logothetis, cause adventurer and author of The Kindness Diaries on Tuesday, April 9.  Leon, who has a unique gift of creating life-changing moments in students’ lives through his personal story, will instill in all of us a greater sense of self and purpose rooted in kindness.  For the parents, we will hold a special evening speaking engagement at 7:00 pm.  Please note that due to the content, the evening event is truly geared towards parents only, so make sure to get your babysitter now! Please help make this a great success through your attendance. You can sign up here -   www.tinyurl.com/wescottkind .  As an added bonus, we will be raffling off (for those in attendance), ten signed copies of Leon Logothetis' #1 Travel Bestseller on Amazon, The Kindness Diaries. For more information, PTO Speaker Series Committee Chairs Joanna Kaplan at [email protected] or Grace Jeon at [email protected].

MAPLE CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE APRIL 15 Dear Parents of 7th and 8th Grade Students, Maple School is fortunate to have so many enthusiastic student writers! We invite each 7th and 8th grade student to participate in our first Maple Mustang Creative Writing Contest by submitting a short story, memoir, and/or poem to their ELA teacher, following the parameters outlined here. All entries will be evaluated by a team of Maple teachers, following the rubric in the above attachment. Certificates will be awarded to the winners at the end-of-the year Awards Assembly. Students in 6th grade will continue to participate in the Letters About Literature contest. The Character Counts Committee has discontinued their essay contest, so we have taken the opportunity to provide a writing contest specifically for Maple 7th and 8th graders.
