REQUIREMENTS OF A BOARD MEMBER:

Generally, the Board operates as a governance entity, meaning that it sets high level strategic direction as opposed to having a direct hand in the day-to-day activities of the operation. Directors may also be asked to sit on various committees to provide more direct guidance regarding key association strategic objectives. Board Members are not paid, however, reasonable expenses are reimbursed for travel and meals when attending Board meetings or other sanctioned association business. The Board of Directors meets every six weeks via Skype or conference call, as well as a minimum of twice annually face-to-face.

All WCOWMA-BC members in good standing are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting being held during the Convention and Trade Show on March 2 in Kamloops, BC.

NOMINATIONS PROCESS:

Nominations may be submitted in advance of the AGM or from the floor during the election portion of the meeting. According to Bylaw Section 6.g, all nominees must be Corporate Members in good standing. A member whose membership fees are due and unpaid or otherwise owes money to the Association is not in good standing.

TERM OF OFFICE:

Those elected to the Board of Directors at the 2018 AGM will hold those positions for two years; term of office to complete in 2020.

WCOWMA-BC is pleased to present the 9th annual Convention and Trade Show. This event begins on Thursday, March 1st with a full day of practical sessions on system design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. On Friday, March 2nd, the event continues with the trade show and its attendant technical sessions throughout the day.

During the late afternoon on Friday, after the trade show closes, all members are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting, following which, there will be a banquet with entertainment for all to enjoy.

Saturday, March 3rd, boasts a full schedule of education and research presentations.

The 2018 Trade Show opens in the morning on Friday, March 2nd, and remains open all day until the late afternoon. Tour the booths, talk to the suppliers, and attend technical sessions.

The trade show offers a wonderful opportunity to see the technologies available to the industry.

Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in technical sessions at various times throughout the day during the trade show. Alongside this program are technical, educational, and research presentations of interest to the planners, installers, maintenance providers, and the engineering community as well as other stakeholders in related disciplines.

MEET & GREET

Join your fellow delegates for a Meet & Greet on the evening of Thursday, March 1st. All delegates of the convention will be invited to join us at this sponsored event to relax and network.

SOCIAL EVENING

Join us Friday evening for our annual Banquet. WCOWMA-BC will host a buffet dinner for all to enjoy. Following dinner and dessert, Dave Nystrom has been invited to entertain us.

Dave Nystrom has performed stand up all over the world, including a tour of the United Kingdom, HBO's prestigious US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, filmed a stand up special for Comedy Central in New York and his own one hour TV special for the Canadian Comedy Network.

In 2006 he was brought on as a writer for CBC’s “This Hour has 22 Minutes” during which he won a Canadian Comedy Award and a Writer’s Guild of Canada Award. He once delivered a baby…when he was a baby. And it is said that dolphins will pay to swim with him. Dave now lives in Los Angeles where he has worked with the likes of Robin Williams, Dane Cook, Bob Saget, Patton Oswalt, and Harland Williams among others. He has also written for National Lampoon, wrote the special features on the Anniversary Blu-Ray Edition of the cult movie “Office Space”, filmed a pilot for VH1 and has four children who are slowly trying to kill him.

BUSINESS ASSOCIATE DISCOUNT:

Member companies registering more than one delegate will receive their first registration at the listed rate, and any subsequent registrations at the Associate Member Rate.

AFFILIATED ASSOCIATE RATE:

Registrants who are not members of WCOWMA-BC, but are members of other industry associations such as APEG-BC, ASTTBC, and BCOSSA will receive a $50.00 discount off the non-member rate.

CANCELLATIONS:

Cancellations made before February 1, 2018 will be subject to a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations after February 1, 2018 will forfeit 100% of fees.
