Today we join with the pilgrims of every time and place to welcome Jesus as Lord. The palms are a symbol of victory and homage to the Lord. They are green to remind us that Jesus has come to bring us a new life. That new life is given us through the suffering and death of that Lord we so joyfully welcome today. We are reminded that as His disciples we too must follow Jesus through suffering and dying to ourselves so that the Lord Jesus may transform our old lives of sin into new lives of everlasting peace and joy. May this Holy Week be a time for all of us to draw closer to our Lord. May it truly be a “holy” week for each of us. May we all make time to pray and reflect on how Jesus brought us the promise of eternal life, if only we turn more completely to living His Gospel. I pray that everyone may open their hearts to honestly follow Jesus and do His will in all they say and do.

Reflections by Fr. Carlos

Today we celebrate Christ's entry into Jerusalem. It was a humble entrance and He was greeted by humble people. At that time the arrival of a great leader in Jerusalem with a great display of power was expected. In reality, the true King of the universe came with simplicity. Christ wants to tell us something with His humble and simple lifestyle. It is in simplicity where we find God. It is the simple and humble people who can recognize God in a man. Let us ask God for the gift of simplicity. God bless your week.

Youth Ministry News

I believe. I believe in many things that the church teaches. I also struggle. I Struggle with some things that the church teaches, and I know that I’m not the only one. In Confirmation one of the biggest things we battle is what society says is okay versus what the church says. We live in a world that tells our youth that sex outside of marriage is fun and ok. We live in a world that tells our youth to get even with people when they have been wronged. We live in a world that tells youth if you get pregnant and don’t want the child that its ok to go and have an abortion. We live in a world that promotes gay marriage. These are all teachings that are opposite of the church and I know that our teens believe in some of them and not others. This week we challenged our teens on why they do and don’t believe in these and other things that society is saying is ok. As Catholics we can be challenged with our faith, that doesn’t mean we need to ignore it, it just means that we need to pray about it and understand it better. If you don’t believe in something the church teaches don’t give up, rather research and discover why the church teaches that belief and how you can better understand it.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY CELEBRATION

The Eucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy invites you to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday with us on April 3rd. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and Mass will begin at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow. For further

information call Bob at 512-6996 or Zaida at 647-3086.

Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we would be speechless. During WWII an adviser to Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to pray collectively for the safety of England, its people, and peace. People are now organizing the same thing here in the United States. If you would like to participate, every evening at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, 8:00 p.m. Central, 7:00 p.m. Mountain, 6:00 p.m. Pacific, stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States and its people, for a return of our nation to one nation under God, and for world peace. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Please pass this along to your praying friends.
