Talk about a good time! Our second meeting of the year was fantastic! At least I thought so…even if I was a little nervous, I got over that when I remembered I was talking to my friends. There were 29 in attendance. 29-hello? That is awesome! I am very excited about the club growing each month. We welcomed one new member, Chris Romandetti “Big C” and one guest, Roger Overbee-I hope he becomes a member soon! The minutes from January’s meeting were read and approved as was the Treasurers report. Old business: Christmas party confirmed date is Saturday December 17, 2011. We talked about Cocoa Village cruise in-not bad but not great according to Ted. TJ went to the Mecum Auction and said it was awe-some! If you have the opportunity to check it out next time, then take it! He said it’s worth the money to see all the cool cars. A few people knew someone that sold a car there. Indian River County Fairgrounds show we had 6 members there- Ernie won in the Mustang class, Go Ernie! Elks Lodge in Sebastian we had 7 members there and Keith won in his class with his Cobra Jet, Rich said it was due to the fact that there was one judge that knew what he was looking at. Go Keith! That show is going to add more classes to it, like a Mustang class, Go Us! Both were great shows, fun and good times! Pretty much all dues have been paid, yeah we are doing good. The 50/50 is a big hit, especially with the winners donating back to the club. Thank you Dave (this month’s winner). New business: The website will be www.spacecoastmustang.com. Rich will be setting it up. It is cheaper and we can keep the .com. Check it out, should be good to go before the next meeting. Thanks Rich! You are the man! The newsletter will be available on the website and emailed, unless you have specified otherwise. Rich will put classified ads on the website so forward them to him if you have anything you want to try to sell. We will also include a copy of our application in the newsletter, for when we distribute them at shows. The t-shirts will be men’s and women’s, ash gray, and $15-$20 each. We are checking out one more guy to price shop. Also, getting more research and information on flags and decals. We discussed upcoming shows and caravanning. Brought up implementing a road captain. It was men-tioned that we need to schedule a board meeting to establish that position in addition to the Sergeant at Arms position. Hank Kral resigned from the club so we had a vote on replacing him as a board member and Ernie Place was voted in. Our show in November at Palm Bay Ford will be $20 registration fee or $10 registration fee and an unwrapped toy. We will start incorporating an address change to Melbourne/Palm Bay as supplies run out. Ted said he would start paperwork to have it done by next year. Rob Palumbo won the member raffle, but he was not at the meeting so it will go back into the pot $40 next meeting. Must be present to win! Come on its fun and everyone wants to see you there! No program this meeting. Hopefully that will change soon! We are looking for ideas for speakers and programs. Any ideas ware welcome!

Thank you for making this the best Mustang Club! Our members Rock!!-Kim .

Profile: 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Designer Darrell Behmer

Darrell Behmer, chief designer of the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, wants his new cre-ation to be respectful of its heritage.

“We approached this as curators of a legend,” said Behmer. “We’ve taken design cues from the ’69 Boss street car and the menacing Bud Moore/Parnelli Jones race cars and carefully updated them to give the 2012 the proper bad-boy attitude that is unmistakably a Boss Mustang.”

The original Boss 302 Mustangs, first offered in 1969, were designed to dominate SCCA Trans-Am racing with a high-revving small-block V8 and outstanding road-holding capability.

Driving the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 was intended from the outset to be a visceral experience, packed with raw, unbridled performance across the spectrum.

To set Boss apart, each car will have either a black or white roof panel, coordinated to the color of the side C-stripe. Available exterior colors are Competition Orange,

Performance White, Kona Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-Coat and Race Red.

Inside, a unique Boss steering wheel covered completely in Alcantara® suede complements the standard seats, which are trimmed in cloth with a suede-like center insert to firmly hold occupants in place. Boss customers who want the ultimate seat-ing experience can select a package that includes Recaro buckets, designed by Ford SVT in cooperation with Recaro for high-performance Mustang models, and shared between the Boss and GT500.

A dark metallic instrument panel finish, gauge cluster and door panel trim also differ-entiate Boss from the standard Mustang, while a black pool-cue shifter ball and “Pow-ered by Ford” door sill plates further remind customers they’re in a special car.

Meet the MillersYour not going to believe this.

Consider the strange story of Alex and Imogene Miller of East Orange, VT. They eked out an existence on a small farm. Alex would scrounge rusty nails from burnt build-ings to repair his roof. He drove a ratty VW Beetle, and when it died, he found another even more ratty, and another...the rusting carcasses littered his yard. Alex died in 1993, and Imogene died in 1996. The local church took up a collection so they could be buried in the churchyard, and the state began the process of taking the farm for taxes. That would have been the end of a sad story, except.....

Forget the VW: a '28 Franklin ($4500US) and a '23 HCS($14,500US)lurk inside. While preparing the estate for auction, the sheri discovered a cache of bearer bonds taped to the back of a mirror. That triggered a compre-hensive search of the house and outbuildings. The estate auction would eventually be handled by Christies, and it would bring out collectors from all over the world.

AK Miller's Front Yard

1913 Stutz Bearcat went for just $105,000 US.Must have been the badtire. It seems that AlexMiller was a Rutgers grad, son of a wealthy nancier. He lived in Montclair, NJ,where he founded Miller'sFlying Service in 1930. He operated a gyrocopter(look it up, it's too muchof a digression) for mail and delivery servicethrough the 30's. But theMillers had a secret, and they moved from Montclair when they needed room for it.

Step behind the wheel of a 1916 Stutz Bearcat. ($155,000 US) Choosing to live low prole, and paranoid about tax collectors, Miller moved to the farm in VT, and took his collections with him. Most of his cash had been exchanged for gold and silver bars and coins, which he buried in various locations around the farm. He carefully disassembled his gyrocopter, and stored it in an old one-room schoolhouse on his property. he then built a couple of dozen sheds and barns out of scrap lumber and recycled nails. In the sheds he put his collection.

Have to remember to clean that '20 Bearcat out of the shed. ($50,000 US) Alex Miller had an obsession with cars. Not just any cars, but Stutz cars. Blackhawks, Bearcats, Superbearcats, DV16's and 32's. He had been buying them since the 1920's. When Stutz went out of business, he bought a huge pile of spare parts, which was also carefully stored away in his sheds.

A Springeld Rolls Picadilly Roadster ($115,000US). Made in Illinois. Sometimes, he would stray, and buy other "special cars", including Locomobiles, a Stanley, and a Springeld Rolls Royce. He never drove them. He'd simply move them into his storage sheds in the middle of the night, each car wrapped in burlap to protect it from any prying eyes. Over the years, the farm appeared to grow more and more forlorn, even as the collection was growing.

A snappy car: 1921 Stutz Bearcat. ($58,000 US) Occasion-ally he would sell some parts to raise cash. Rather than dipping into his cache, he would labor for hours making copies of the original parts by hand.

Stutz factory spares. Cylinders and pistons from a brass era Stutz in forground. Collectors knew him as a sharp trader, who had good merchandise but was prone to cheating. His neighbors had no clue at all, they thought Alex and Imogene were paupers, and often helped out with charity.

Wheelbarrow blocks a '28 Stutz Blackhawk Boattail Speedster ($78,000 US) The auction was a three day circus, billed as the "Opening of King Stutz Tomb". It attracted celebrity collectors, as well as thousands of curiosity seekers. The proceeds were in the millions, some items went for far more than their value in the frenzy. In the end, the IRS took a hefty chunk of the cash for back taxes, which proves the old adage about the only two sure things in life...
