March is Red Cross Month. The American Red Cross is part of the world's

largest humanitarian network - 97 million volunteers helping in 186

countries. In the United States, the Red Cross helps change lives seven

    days a week, 24 hours a day.

200 times a day, American Red Cross volunteers help a

family who has lost everything in a house fire or otherdisaster.

475 times a day, the American Red Cross connects de-

ployed service members with their families.

21,000 times a day, a patient receives blood through the

    American Red Cross blood program.

43,000 times a day, someone receives life-saving Ameri-

can Red Cross health, safety and preparedness training.

Long separations caused by military service create special needs for mili-

tary families. The Red Cross provides support to active-duty, National

Guard and Reserve, veterans and their families. They pro-vide emer-

gency communication services, support for the sick and wounded at mili-

tary and veterans hospitals, and assistance in obtaining emergency fi-

nancial support. The American Red Cross is where people mobilize to

help their neighbors - across the street, across the country and across

    the world.

    Beware of Credit Score

    Many people do not know

    about the credit scoring sys-

    tem much less their credit

    score until they attempt to

buy a home, take out a loan

out or make a major pur-

    chase. Its imperative that all

    of our service members and

    their spouses be aware of

    their score and where they

    stand. To get started and

    know where you stand, you

    can request your credit

    report and score by calling

    FFSC at 817-782-5287.

    Transition Goals Plans Success,

known simply as Transition GPS, re-

    places the 20-year-old Transition

Assistance Program, or TAP. In a

    sweeping overhaul of the 20-year-old

TAP, as part of the VOW to Hire He-

roes Act passed in 2011, Transition

    GPS takes military members through

a week-long class, compared to the

original TAPs mandatory two to four

    hours of separation counseling.

    The Transition Assistance Program

has been redesigned into a compre-

    hensive, mandatory program that

    includes pre-separation counseling, a

military to civilian skills review, a VA

    benefits briefing and application sign-

    up, financial planning support, job

    search skills building, and individual

    transition plan preparation

Those who are separating from the

military must prepare a year in ad-

    vance, for retirees preparations for

Transition GPS must begin two years

in advance. In order to attend theservice members Command Career

    Counselor must be contacted.
