Being Exalted Ruler is not about me, but it is about all thepeople that have stepped up to help: all of my officers and trustees, the office (Pat and Patricia), all thecommittee chairmen (too numerous to mention

individually), the Lodge Activities Chairman and Bar Manager Teri Eckenrode, our cook Derek Hill and all his volunteers, the front office moneyman Jack Miller, House Committee and Bellows Chairman Linda Alexon, andall the volunteers on the House Committee. I would like to start by thanking everyone who hasserved on the House Committee with me this year.Without your hard work our events, Wednesday andFriday Dinners, 50/50’s and a multitude of other thingswould not have been possible.

We have a number of events during March; St.Patrick’s Day (will sell out) get your tickets early, Installation of Officers, and Easter Lunch, in additionto our regular Wednesday and Friday night dinners,plus lunches. Thank you to all who assisted with theValentine’s dinner, it was a sold out event.

Recently, the Daytona Beach Emory L. Bennett Nursing Home for Veterans were visited by the Recreations, a group of young students, fromparts of the country, who visit veterans in nursing homes to entertain them.Attending the event at the home were district dignitaries, Patricia Heller-Jackson DDGER, her husband Edward Jackson, PER, Tom Brand,DVP, his wife Mary,Vic McClellan, PSP, his wife Peggy, Lou Greci, PERand his guest Michelle Davis. Recreations were invited back to the lodgewhere they enjoyed a spaghetti dinner. Lodge Officers, Lodge AdvisorMichael Chandler, PDDGER, his wife Caroline, and Exalted Ruler TomAlexon, his wife Linda, all broke bread with the group, after which Tompresented the group with a check in the amount of $200.

Through all of your hard work and dedication you have managed to raise $1,386.00 and hundreds of pounds of pet foods and supplies, incredible job, thank you thank you and thank you.

Many needy animals in our community are without proper medical care, food and good homes and often times euthanized due to a variety of factors including abandonment or lack of caring pet owners.
