March 2013 REPORT Institute for Socio-Economic Development Initiatives (An Outreach Arm of the Ateneo de Davao University) Community Extension Program AIESEC - Association for the International Exchange of Students in Economics and Commerce Mr. Satoshi Yoshinami, an AIESEC intern assigned in ISEDI presented his output on the Study on Bangsamoro Framework Agreement (BFA) where he shared his understanding on the sections and provisions of BFA in respect to the constitutional law of the Philippines. He also shared his insights and observations on the socio-economic activities of ISEDI-assisted SMEs and communities - Apo ni Lola and Elmars Pork skin chicharon and SMSNAI Tibungco, respectively. Mr. Yoshinami was also an observer during the presentation to the BDA Board of Directors (BoD) on the results of the nine (9) Capacity Building trainings for BDA facilitated and conducted by ISEDI, DAP and OPAPP held at Waterfront Insular Hotel last March 15, 2013 Mr. Satoshi Yoshinami successfully completed his 2-month internship at ISEDI Ateneo de Davao University and went home to Japan last March 17, 2013. PAASCU, ADDU visit The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) representatives with the personnel of Ateneo de Davao University and ISEDI visited and interviewed the assisted SME of ISEDI, Apo ni Lola. This is in relation to the PAASCU accreditation of ADDU. The visit took place last March 8, 2013.

    Mr. Satoshi Yoshinami, an AIESEC intern

    PAASCU, ADDU visit

    The Philippine Accrediting Association of

    Schools Colleges and Universities

    (PAASCU) representatives with the

    personnel of Ateneo de Davao University

    and ISEDI visited and interviewed the

    assisted SME of ISEDI, Apo ni Lola. This is

    in relation to the PAASCU accreditation of

    ADDU. The visit took place last March 8,

    2013.

  • Capacity Building Training for Bangsamoro

    Development Agency (BDA)

    Trainings Completed:

    ISEDI and OPAPP successfully conducted the

    ninth and last capacity training for BDA on

    Conflict Management and Peace Development

    held at Waterfront Insular Hotel last March 7-

    10, 2013. It was attended by 25 participants

    from the six (6) Regional Management Offices

    and the Central Management Office of BDA.

    Finally, ISEDI presented to the Board of

    Directors of Bangsamoro Development Agency

    and the Officers of Central Mindanao Office the

    results of the nine trainings conducted. The

    presentation was well attended with complete

    attendance from BoD of BDA and CMO officers

    and representatives from DAP and OPAPP.

    They appreciated and were thankful for the

    series of trainings given to them by ISEDI, DAP

    and OPAPP with funding support from JICA.

    The (9) nine Capacity Building trainings for

    BDA, funded by Japan International

    Cooperating Agency (JICA) and implemented

    by ISEDI, has been productively completed and

    the final report was also submitted to JICA.

  • Assistance for Local Industry Promotion – Autonomous

    Region in Muslim Mindanao for Business Development

    Services (LIP-ARMM for BDS)

    ISEDI completed the Rubber Forum for the Basilan,

    Sulu and Tawi-Tawi (BASULTA) Stakeholders

    conducted at Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City

    last March 4, 2013.

    The Convergence Meeting for the ARMM Regional

    Economic Sector was also conducted last March 6,

    2013 at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.

    ISEDI completed and submitted the final report on the

    rubber stakeholders’ fora and convergence meeting of

    all regional secretaries in ARMM to Japan International

    Cooperation Agency (JICA)

    Project Generation:

    We submitted a proposal to USAID for the YES

    Mindanao Project (Youth Engagement and Skills for

    Mindanao). It is a 5-year project which is intended to

    provide life-skills to youth in ARMM and selected

    vulnerable communities.

    ISEDI also submitted Expression of Interest to PRDP or

    Philippine Rural Development Program in association

    with OIDCI.

    We also submitted a proposal to PRMF or Philippines-

    Australia Provincial Road Management Facility for

    Capacity Building on MIS for the Province of Bukidnon.
