Art has the ability to bring order out of cha-os… to both involve us more deeply in life, and yet at the same

time, give us objective distance so we can see our world with greater perspec-tive…Art can also deal with the great mysteries of life…reflect the quality of the unexplainable and the paradoxi-cal. Art can explore both the human longing to connect with the broader Universe, and the profound limitation we have that denies the fulfillment of this longing.

These are the words of Robert Fritz, musician, composer, and film-maker who applies the principles of creating in everyday life through his concept of structural tension in the book, Your Life As Art. He talks about creative process as accessible to all of us. This is a revolutionary step in the old story of the artist. Like Fritz, more and more people are finding innovative ways of expanding the experience of consensus reality. Dr. Carl Greer, in his book Change Your Story, Change Your Life, uses shamanic and Jungian tools to explore our life stories in order to make more conscious choices of the stories that guide our values and decisions.

Stories are the source of how we understand life around us, framing information of the past while giving us tools to create the future. Ever power-ful, our stories have the potential to

liberate us or encage us. Through the structure of our inherited stories our societies dictate fundamental concepts of how we perceive and think about life. In these times it is obvious how the collec-tive stories have become unsustainable. One such prevalent story is the quest for power resulting in the exploitation of other life forms, including nature.

Artists in all dis-cipline have historically been at the forefront of creating new perspectives and relationships to how we see the world. Artists aid the collec-tive in transcending old perceptions by illuminating our stories and assisting in their evolution. It is questionable that the avant-garde of Post-modern art functions to this end due to the influ-ence of marketing and investment.

As we unwittingly perpetuate old illusions in society, we are also unaware of the underlying stories we impose on ourselves. The old mythology of the artist as gifted be-yond the norm, eccentric, and prone to addictions and excesses is not true, and nor does it support the creative process available to us all. With life experience, exposure to other cultures, inquiry and reflection our stories can transform.

As Dr. Greer suggests we need to become to know our stories. Begin by writing them out, listen to the

stories that we invariably repeat and to notice the stories that touch us deeply, in aversion or attraction. To create something different we need

to enliven the desires and dreams that have been set aside. It takes a tremen-dous amount of courage to dream beyond the marker measured by profit, power or fame.

We need to know our own cosmology in order to create the life we want to live. The arts are a way not only to dis-cover and recognize the

myths we live by but also a way to integrate past experience to move on to new ways of being in the world. Like nighttime dreams, images of the psyche emerge through the mind/body with the materials and tools of the arts. Being an artist is an intention, a way of perceiving and living rather than a quality judged by the outside world. We are talking about creating stories, which apply the creative process to liv-ing. This is what occurs in Transforma-tional Painting at Anavami Studio. As a mixed media artist, Majio facili-tates the creative process using acrylic paint & mixed media in a large format offering painting circles, workshops in Santa Cruz, and retreats in New Mexico. by Patrick GillisWhen the Shaman’s Cosmology training

series begins on April 21st through 24th, course participants will embark on a unique journey of healing, discovery, and personal empowerment.

This program, personally taught by in-ternationally acclaimed shamanic teacher Jose Luis Herrera, will provide students with practical ways to effectively heal, transform, and envision the human experience in harmony with the great principles and laws of nature.

Having been derived from the tradition of

Peruvian Shamans and Inka Medicine People, this four part series will deliver instruction and direct experience of the shamanic initiatory path. Including a combination of lecture, personal pro-cesses, ceremony, healing exercises, and contem-plation, this cosmovision of power and healing has for millennia been used effectively to attain maximum benefit in the course of one’s life.

Each of the four-day training segments will be held on rural land in the beautiful Aptos Hills of Santa Cruz County. Lectures and some ceremonies will be conducted in a newly-con-structed 30’ yurt. The surrounding acreage will be used by students for their personal contempla-tive work, attunement with mother earth, and a variety of training exercises. Class size is small and will allow each individual the opportunity to dive deeply into this powerful work under the masterful guidance of Jose Luis.

The First Class (April 21st through 24th) addresses memories of the soul and our individual and collective memories of the past. Participants will learn the ways of the land and the Great Mother as they retrieve long lost soul pieces. Through a variety of ceremonies and personal exercises, participants will be enabled to break free of years of binding imprints and patterns.

The Second Class (scheduled for Sep-tember 21st through 25th) teaches the nature of perception and the shaman’s way of seeing. As participants learn to master hypnogogic states they will be able to summon the memories of their healed states and to map healing, transfor-mation, and embodiment of their destiny and full power.

The Third Class (to be scheduled for April, 2017) explores the nature of time, of ex-istence, and fulfillment. Trainees learn to awaken

the knowledge that resides in their luminous bodies and truly break free from limiting belief systems. After learning a variety of tracking modalities, they will learn to navigate in differ-ent realms of consciousness and become familiar with the mystery teachings and spirit guides.

The fourth session (to be scheduled for September 2017) engages with the nature of Life and Death. Individual and collective guid-ing mythologies and the big transitions of our human journey are explored. Participants learn the subtleties of energy as they develop their

own medicine body becoming aligned and con-nected to the Shaman’s altar and the Universal Laws of Nature.

Throughout this training participants will create their own Mesa or Medicine Bundle in the tradition of the master shaman’s of Peru. The Mesa will become a tool for growth and a map of healing and transformation through the Medicine Path. The entire program represents a powerful body of knowledge, ritual, healing techniques, and rites of passage.

The Shaman’s Cosmology is offered in a small class format. It is geared to provide maximum benefits for growth and empower-ment. Tuition for each training segment is $595. A $250 deposit will reserve space in this small and powerful class. It is strongly recommended that segments be taken in order. Tara - Goddess, Mother, Buddha Essence of the Enlightened Feminine. In the system of mind-training practices offered

by the great masters of Tibetan wis-dom, Tara is an archetype of our own inner wisdom. This wisdom speaks of a transformation of consciousness, a journey to freedom. In the teachings of Tara, there are simple and direct means for each person to discover within themselves the wisdom, compassion and glory that is Tara.

Legends and myths of every culture praise She Who Brings Forth Life, She Who Is the Embodiment of Wisdom, The Great Compassionate

Mother, The Star of Heaven.

T o t h e Tibetans, even higher than a god or goddess is a

Buddha, a being who has gone be-yond the rounds of birth and death. Such an enlightened one has attained the highest wisdom, compas-sion and capability. Tara is so highly thought of, that she is said to be the Mother of all the Buddhas.

Dancing the Goddess, circles of dancers throughout the world gather to celebrate, reaching within themselves to balance the feminine side of their nature so long denied in our world, held captive by fear

a n d i g n o -rance. Danc-ing our prayers he lps us to integrate all aspects of our life’s experi-ence in to a spiritual jour-ney of awak-ening.

As a young child, Tim Corcoran devel-oped a deep connection to the land and sea throughout California’s central coast. The central coast was his playground. At the age of twelve, he conceived the idea of an art book that would celebrate and give thanks to the region that was such an important source of his inspiration.

Santa Cruz and the Central Coast is the realization of this idea— a realization of a dream. Tim hopes that it will inspire oth-ers to seek out the beauty in the regions that they live, so that they, too, will be inspired to protect and save the land.

The central coast was a dream place for a nature loving kid. I became a photographer at twelve years old. I began in earnest to document through photography the beauty of this wonderful meet-ing of ocean and land. This book is my dream through my art to share my love and wonderment with the central coast. I dreamed of this book at twelve years old while at Franklin Point. I lived in

Santa Cruz for 30 years. I worked to make a living and I worked to save the land. I played endlessly with the land. I found love and great friendships. The meeting of sea and land at this place called the central coast is in my blood and always will be. This book is a chance for me to express my

gratitude to this place for shaping my life. This book is my thank you, this book is my celebration.

Please join Tim Corcoran at MAH on March 12th (Info: (831) 818-0480) to hear about his ‘nature adventures’ and join him anytime by purchasing his ‘not-only beau-tiful Santa Cruz County Coffee Table Book’, but also a big piece of Santa Cruz to keep with you forever (wherever you go; wherever you live) about out beauty-full area.). REPLACING LOST TEETH IMMEDIATELYby David L. Biles, D.D.S., M.A.

Once patients decide to re-move unhealthy teeth, the next concern often becomes

what to replace the teeth with, and, I generally give the same answer. We can ultimately replace the teeth with devices that are removable or xed, depending on their preferences and budget, but in the very beginning, I tell my patients that we are going to replace their teeth with a ipper. That’s right, a device we in the profession refer to as a “ ipper” or an immedi-ate temporary partial denture. The name ipper comes presumably from the ease the appliance can be ipped out of the mouth by the tongue when necessary. It has no relationship to the dolphin television star of the 60’s.

So what is a ipper? Gen-erally speaking, a ipper is a removable oral appliance with 1-3 teeth attached to a custom made hard pink acrylic plate that form- ts to the palate or lower dental arch utilizing the contours of the teeth and the arch for retention and stability. Some dentists have them made with metal clasps for retention, though I have managed to locate a small lab that does cus-tom work for me and provides metal free services. Since many of my patients present with signs of metal allergies, having a metal free removable option is paramount in my practice. I am blessed to have such a skilled laboratory technician to service my patients. His name is Stan; he’s an artist and has a wonderful grounded sense of humor. I can always count on Stan; he is, Stan the Man.

Back to the topic—a ipper is usually inserted immediately upon ex-traction of teeth for multiple purposes. It serves as an immediate band-aid by placing direct pressure over the surgi-cal wound site, aiding in healing by stopping the ow of blood, much like what is done in a rst aid situation: direct pressure to the wound. The form of the ipper also helps create and guide the nal tissue contour which helps to assure a nice functional and esthetic bony foundation for later pos-sibilities. Moreover, its presence limits food and other forces from disturbing the healing wound, making healing less disruptive. I particularly like the design that Stan creates for my patients because his meticulous attention to detail enables my patients to securely wear their ippers for weeks without adding dental pastes and adhesives for retention. It takes a little more extra time and plaster to make the ipper retain without pastes, but it is well

worth the bene t in hygiene, healing, and hassle.

One of the biggest concerns many patients have is how their ap-pearance will be altered immediately following the surgery. I tell them to relax; they will never leave the of ce without their smile after their surgical appointment. Moreover, we have spent

years creating pretty smiles with our ippers, and truly do work with an art-ist, Stan, who truly cares about people, which is reflected in his work and timeliness when emergency ippers are needed to quickly help a traumatic situation. Supporting people and labs like Stan’s is why we work with small laboratories: we have the relationship to ask for favors when necessary.

I believe that a well-designed esthetic ipper should provide patients with a con dent smile after the surgery is complete, and that’s what we con-sistently provide. In my of ce, that means that the smile is eye-catching, but does not draw critical scrutiny. In many cases, the smile we provide following surgery is a significant improvement over the one the patient presented with at the beginning of the dental journey.

Speech is generally affected initially, but within 48 hours of use, people adapt and speech returns to nor-mal, though the continual awareness of the appliance with the tongue per-sists awhile longer. Occasionally, the ipper can be thinned to create more

tongue space, but thinning weakens the plate, and should be minimized. Since the ipper may be necessary for an indeterminate amount of time, it is best to take good care of it. My recommendation is that patients put up with the thickness for a week before thinning the support, and then only if intolerable. Keeping ippers wet and cleaning them with a toothbrush and soap and water also helps assure long-term use. If one chooses to not wear it for awhile, I recommend placing the ipper in water with some 3% hy-drogen peroxide. A word to the wise: cover and place the ipper away from pets, as cats and dogs have been known to chew up dental appliances.

Flippers are generally worn a minimum of approximately 10-12

weeks before treatment to pro-vide a more permanent restor-ative option can begin. It takes that long before soft tissue and bone mature enough before it is possible or wise to resume treatment. Flippers can, by the way, last for a long time, given the situation and the care the patient affords the appliance. I have patients who have worn these for years. Plus, I have had patients who wore nothing but ippers for decades as it t best into their lifestyle, budget, and health concerns.

The pink material in most removable appliances is acrylic and is colored by the heavy metal, cadmium. Cadmium free acrylics are available, and our

choice of materials for our patients. Teeth are acrylic and porcelain, though porcelain teeth are a bit more costly. Setting and adjusting porcelain teeth is more challenging and time consuming, with little esthetic gain, so I generally stay with the acrylic teeth. Besides, the acrylic teeth bond to the plate, whereas the porcelain ones must be mechani-cally retained. In a situation where I need to thin the tooth for clearance by opposing teeth, porcelain teeth can fracture. Stick with the acrylic teeth.

I hope that by knowing more about ippers, the journey beyond ex-traction becomes less threatening, less fearful. Remember, you can have your smile the day your teeth are extracted. How much better can it get, given the circumstances? Happy trails….

BECAUSE IT IS...by David L. Biles, D.D.S., M.A.

Inever thought that I would con-tinue to learn as much as I do after so many years in practice as

a dentist. As a matter of fact, one of my early concerns was that dentistry wouldn’t offer as much stimulation as I thought I might need to be suf- ciently interested in my daily toils, decades into my career. I could not have been more surprised as time has unfolded. Treating the trusting and grateful patients I do enables me to better understand how this oral system operates in health and disease and still keeps my daily interest. Each day I hear tales that astound me, challenging my understanding of the mechanisms of disease and dysfunction. I routinely hear from patients of brain fog clearing, whole body pain di-minishing, and energy increas-ing. Sometimes the reports are even more remarkable.

Recently, for example, a woman returned with her sister for a second opinion and examination, determined to help her sibling with her health concerns, touching all of the bases on possible solutions to helping her heal from a myriad of symptoms, dif cult to label medically. As has been my custom, I thoroughly evaluated her mouth on multiple levels, examin-ing her gums, TMJ, teeth, existing dental restorations, tongue posture, soft tissue, dental materials, and level of oral hygiene, utilizing digital x-rays, photographs, a laser cavity detector, and illuminated high mag-ni cation. My goal is to identify as many potential stressors in the oral cavity as possible, believing that the nature, magnitude, and duration of the stressors’ existence impact the immune system in, at the very least, diverting the attention of the immune system from other maladies.

During the course of the exami-nation, the former patient revealed to me that although she still had the antibodies for Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, SLE, she had not experienced any symptoms since completing treatment in my of ce seven years ago. That was why she had brought her sister in for an ex-amination and consultation with me. She wondered if a similar approach to dental care might be bene cial for her sister. Healthy mouth, healthy body, the American Dental Association says, so… of course I agree, being the good supportive dentist I am, applauding the ADA for some of the good work it does.

Another case history? Last week a gentleman suffering from high blood pressure, obesity, and shortness of breath informed my staff that he felt better than he had in years fol-

lowing several hours of full mouth periodontal debridement with our skilled registered dental hygienists. Even though he was still slightly numb, he said, later that evening his energy was signi cantly improved, as well as his mental clarity, includ-ing a reduction of whole body pain. All of this from just having his teeth thoroughly cleaned, because he, like 70-90% of Americans suffer from un-diagnosed gum disease. This was the third or fourth time I had heard such a revelation from a patient, leading me

to believe that rapidly lowering the total amount of bacteria in the head can have a signi cant effect on our health. Quickly.

The previous hypothetical link came to me when a physician called to acknowledge that her patient was now responding to her therapy fol-lowing a similar protocol. Prior to thoroughly cleaning her mouth and eliminating two cavities, this patient had been non-responsive to all of the physician’s efforts to stimulate her immune system and heal. She was now thrilled to see the patient’s prog-ress and called to understand why this was happening. We concluded that the reduction in bacteria was enabling her immune system to nally direct its attention to other priorities in the body rather than deal with an appar-ent chronic low grade sub-clinical infection in the head, localized to the mouth, primarily between and around the teeth. With this awareness came other implications, however.

The common denominator? A systematic approach to achieving a healthy mouth on multiple lev-els, attending to all of the possible stressors on and in the oral system, understanding that there are multiple types of stressors and each one exerts its in uence in a unique way. The stressors? Bacteria, number and type, from decay, gum disease, bad oral hygiene, poorly contoured, rough dental restorations that promote bac-terial accumulation and proliferation, inaccessible concave surfaces, plus the energetic effects of mixed metals, including the out gassing of mercury from silver colored llings, facilitated by the presence of gold. All of these physical in uences are impacting our

immune systems. Our symptoms we experience and report to health care practitioners are the logical result of this oral pollution. Unless the under-lying dental issues are strategically, safely, and effectively reduced or better yet, eliminated, then the medi-cal treatment regime we are engaged in will be little more than slightly effective symptom management. Ar-guably… the mouth comes rst.

This concept does not support the current perceived hierarchy in health care, however, as dentists do

not intentionally do medically related dental care due to the restrictions placed on both professions, not to mention the lack of communication and common understanding between the medical and den-tal professions. Nonetheless, the few dentists that do treat the whole mouth systemically oftentimes see healing of ap-parently unrelated symptoms. There are many reasons for this, including the somewhat obvious economic reasons,

where patients are more likely to seek care for a single tooth rather than a whole mouth. Plus, it takes much more skill to restore a whole mouth that one can only acquire after years of dedicated post-graduate work.

Detoxifying an entire mouth and rebuilding it better are tech-niques that are not taught in dental schools, necessitating specialized training, instrumentation, and travel. It has taken me over 15 years of soul searching and analysis, coupled with revelations from my patients over that time frame to become comfort-able with knowing that when patients unify their dentistry, health bene ts will occur. What those bene ts will speci cally be depends on the issues the patient possesses along with other factors, including the willingness to make lifestyle changes, if they have not also been examined and instituted already.

Don’t you think it is time we reconnected the mouth for dentistry and medicine? I welcome patients who are willing to invest in their health and educate themselves when it comes to understanding the particular stressors in their mouths. Likewise, I welcome the testimonials that only serve to validate a legitimate direction for the dental and medical professions to embark. We are here to heal, are we not?

Dr. David Biles is accepting new patients interested in a compre-hensive approach to health created in tandem with the patient. Dr. Biles brings awareness to health from a lifetime of study. by David L. Biles, DDS, MA

After nearly four decades of practicing as a gener-al dentist, I believe that the most important visit a patient could have is

the next one following any form of dental intervention, particularly if the treatment was invasive. Any cutting is actually surgery though we don’t often think of drilling and filling or capping a tooth as surgery….but it is. Likewise, I believe a follow-up visit is necessary after any visit where one’s bite or oc-clusion is altered. Why is that? What makes the next visit, and maybe the next one, and the next one after that so significant? Let’s get into some analo-gies to understand that claim.

I have come to believe that dentists don’t really treat teeth. Re-ally true: dentists do not treat teeth…necessarily…Dentists actually treat the nervous system….They treat the nervous system directly….. and the hormonal system… indirectly. Teeth just happen to be in the way of directly accessing the nervous system. When we are treating a decaying tooth we are always affecting the peripheral nerve housed within the tooth. Conscientious dentists go to great lengths to protect the health of the nerve by using copi-ous amounts of water when cutting, gentle strokes of the drill, and other measures geared to reduce the load on the tooth’s nerve.

Once you understand this para-digm that dentists are treating nerves, you realize that what you want… is to not disrupt your nervous system via your teeth as much as possible, either through some pathological process or direct dental care by the dentist. You want a healthy quiet nervous system, pain free. Again, when you begin to adopt this paradigm that dentists are really treating your nervous system via the teeth, other stuff begins to make sense, too.

Let me explain. I began remod-eling my basement several months ago, adding new electrical circuits and a sub-panel to increase the availability of power and make it easier to regulate the house. As I was reading and learn-ing about home electrical circuits from the various do it yourself guidebooks, I became aware of the many similari-ties that the human body’s central and peripheral nervous systems share with home wiring. As I began pondering the similarities and differences, I began to wonder what counterparts in the physical electrical world would be represented by teeth. Then the answer came to me. Wire caps!

Imagine teeth as the same physical counterpart to the wire caps that electricians twist over exposed wires, uniting wires to provide cur-rent, and insulating the ends to prevent shocks. That’s it. Teeth are wire caps. Dentists are in charge of the integrity of the teeth, just as the electrician is responsible for the integrity of the

wired circuits and proper insulation, including the uniting or termination of two or more wires with a properly sized and placed wire cap. If they rot…the teeth…the wire caps—the nerves are affected, a short sharp or long dull electric shock occurs… unhappy tooth…..really unhappy nerve. Pain.

If the wire cap doesn’t fully cover the wire anymore, as in gum recession, then the tooth becomes sensitive because more of the wire is exposed to physical insult—tempera-ture, microbiological invasion….pain. Why? Nerve unhappy. Too much hot or cold…nerve not insulated enough…just like electrical wire losing its insu-lation…shocking.

Too much plaque, germs, or mi-crobiological invasion pain? The little buggers have to get rid of their trash somehow…so they just flush it down the system. Nerves work via passage of charged ions, principally sodium and potassium. We are truly bio-electric. You mess up that combination or permeability of the membrane via bacterial wastes…nerve doesn’t work the same…..pain. Likewise…

I have learned much about bite adjustments over the years, bolstered by years of “experimentation”, and knowledge gained taking an extensive 3-year post graduate course in full mouth rehabilitation. There I learned and developed my skills in sensitively treating the nervous system via adjust-ing individual tooth bites to quadrants to full mouths, rehabbing the jaw before embarking on a full mouth restoration of teeth.

When my patients return for their 3-4 week follow-up after a visit where a filling or crown was placed, and sensitivity or pain still persists to the point a patient is either uncomfort-able or just wondering what’s going on I offer the following explanation: the nervous system has been “destabi-lized” via the treatment itself or from very likely a heavier than optimal occlusion after the filling was placed, which is stressing the nerve.

I then check the intensity of the bite with a marking ribbon that is cali-brated at 1 one-hundredth of an inch, very, very thin. I can then evaluate how the marks compare to adjacent teeth, where the marks are located—which matters, and other critical information. Interestingly enough, the paper we used in dental school was so thick that a dentist making adjustments based on marks made by that paper would and does obliterate any semblance of dental anatomy when adjustments are made. Sensitivity does abate, but at a different cost.

When a patient returns and informs me the pain is on the top and bottom jaw, and the record indicates that treatment was rendered only on the lower jaw, then I know automati-cally that one contributor to the pain is a bite that is too “high”. A simple adjustment and another scheduled

follow-up generally will solve the issue.

Multiple follow-ups are some-times necessary because the tooth it-self (wire cap) is resting on a hydraulic

(fluid based) system composed of ligamentous tissues that are unequally stressed and hydrated, such that the

tooth will re-position itself in the bony socket. When the tooth/bone joint system reaches an equilibrium the tooth won’t move any longer, the bite mark will stay stable, and the nerve pain will slowly subside. I tell patients that if the tooth or teeth are becoming less sensitive, then we are headed in the right direction and we just have to remain patient and not re-stress the nerve via excessive tem-perature or chewing. We are healing the nervous system and nervous tissue takes a longer than usual time to heal, but heal it will.

How did I get to understand what I am trying to convey to you? Practice, practice, practice. This is actually simple and very complicated and beyond what little can be taught in dental school, I have learned to employ the rules of BULL, MUDL, and utilizing highly illuminated mag-nification I, like other dentists, have learned to read and adjust fine bite or occlusal marks located at various parts of individual teeth within an arch and whole mouth such that very slight adjustments can heal teeth merely by reducing the load.

Do this repetitively and incre-mentally over time, generally in 3-5 week intervals, such that the discom-fort is tolerable to the patient without ongoing medication other than homeo-pathics, then I have seen many teeth heal, no longer requiring the root canal therapy I would have recommended years before, grasping the significance and necessity of ongoing after treat-ment, or post operative visits.

We recommend to all of our patients who have fillings placed or crowns seated that they see us 24 hours later if they feel the bite is off. Otherwise, we offer free postopera-tive visits 2-4 weeks after treatment completion so we can assess progress and make adjustments as necessary to calm the nervous system. The end result? Fewer of my patients require root canal therapy even after we do rather extensive care.Dr. David Biles is accepting new pa-tients interested in a comprehensive dental approach that detoxifies mouths and restores health. Dr. Biles brings a unique awareness to healing from a lifetime of personal experience, study, and work in many disciplines, including dentistry, medicine, physical education, human research in exercise physiology, and nutrition. The cranio-sacral rhythm is the “heart beat” of the spine. The rhythm (or pulse) circulates spinal fluid, lymph, and is connected to fluid circula-tion in all systems in the body. The

cranio-sacral pulse is very slow and very subtle, but is a true mechanical pulsation. There are vari-ous types of blockages that can interfere with the cranio-sacral rhythm.

TRAUMA PATTERNS Old, healed traumas can leave imprints of

physical restriction on the cranio-sacral rhythm. Physical traumas heal with scarring. Even if you cannot see the scarring, microscopic buildup of collagen and fibrinogen fibers lay down wherever there was inflammation to tighten up and heal an

injury. Now imagine that your tissues are like a complex spider web. Now imagine part of the web had thickened. The web would move differ-ently there. In fact the thickening may even strain nearby web lines, causing them to thicken too.

STRESS PATTERNS Think of stress patterns as habitual pos-

tural strains from mental windup. Whenever there is stress in the brain, the body follows by drawing up and in, and getting ready to spring. The body does not know the difference between mental/emotional stress versus physical stress (the kind where we run or fight). Some people have their shoulders up around their ears all the time. Other people get cold, painful or numb hands in response to shoulder girdle tension.

Other people have a chronic ache in the hip or low back, from being mildly torqued all the time, like on a starting line.SYSTEMIC PATTERNS

S y s t e m i c (meaning, affecting the whole body) ten-sion patterns can be caused from chronic food-caused chemi-cal inflammation. For example, the tension can come from a habit of too much salt causing tissue turgor. Another cause of inflammation can come from hormonal imbalances. Even a one-time or a chronic history of fevers, exposure to medica-tions, or vaccinations can stiffen the whole body. This type of tension can be hard to diagnose as the exact cause, but can often be softened or alleviated with cranio-sacral technique.

EMOTIONAL PATTERNS Emotions can contribute to tension pat-

terns, too. Even the medical field has a term called “the emotional low back,” referring to pain of tension that arises initially from mental or emotional stress. Cranio-sacral technique is such a subtle mechanical technique that it can be easily merged with energetic techniques. Some of the most profound work can be done with at-tention to the physical and the energetic realms simultaneously. When the practitioner includes a “listening-to” of the emotional “tone” stored in the tissue, there can be an even better improvement in the cranio-sacral rhythm that did not come from the mechanic work alone.Sylvia Skefich is a Doctor of Chiropractic and has been practicing Osteopathic style Cranio-Sacral Technique and energy work for 17 years. by Dr. Gabriel Russo I was brought up as an American, proud to be born in a free country. We were taught how we were a unique people on this earth, born of a revolution that recognized we

were born with inalienable, God given rights as sovereign human beings.

I have been proud to be an American, born of and part of a proud and free people. I am disgusted at what this coun-try has become. Have we totally lost our constitutional republic, with a government by and for the people? This is a government bought by the lobbying interests, for the service of those who will pay them. Where is this freedom that I was taught about?

How did we get to where we are now when we have a medical dictatorship, a government that has the gall to impose upon us that we take vaccinations against our free will, against the basic principles upon which our country was founded. The design of this country is that the government serves its people, not forces them against their will. This is the action of a dicta-torship mandating dangerous practices to its “subjects”, not of a government respecting the rights of the people.

How lost have we become as a people that we have allowed this government to mandate to us against our free will, to act as our dictator? There really is no pretense anymore that we are a free people; this is not how a free country lives!!

We are told vaccinations are safe. If they are safe, why have there been payments made of over $3 billion dollars to families whose kids have suffered from the effects of a vaccine, who have lost their normal lives as a result of a vac-cine. $3 billion dollars is a lot of damage, but these are only the people who have been able to prove there was a direct cause.

(What is outrageous is that the money paid out to families cannot bring back their children, but can be used to pay for the care necessary to manage a life that has been taken away, for a human being who can’t even take care of themselves.)

Do the pharmaceutical companies who have made the vaccines pay for these reparations? No, they are immune; it is the taxpayers who pay. Somehow, in their inconceivable corruption, the government/and pharmaceutical companies have set up a system where the one who causes the damage is not even liable to pay for the damages.

The fact that there is no liability for the vac-cine makers means they can put anything they want in these cocktails of destruction without any accountability when people are hurt! Any other manufacturer in this country who makes some-thing that hurts people is liable for damages, but not the vaccine makers!!

It gets even worse. Recently, in August of

2014, William Thompson, senior epidemi-ologist at the CDC, admitted that he and

his associates ignored and suppressed research evidence verifying the link between vaccinations and their caus-

ing autism. This is just one example of the corruption and treason of the system.

Actually, whatever the research shows or doesn’t show about the links with

vaccinations and autism, the numbers are quite revealing. In 1980, the incidence of autism was 1 in 10,000. In 2013, it was 1 in 50. This directly cor-relates to when the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines

were put into one formula, and the schedules were increased.

If someone believes that vaccinations can help them, they can choose to receive them. What does that have to do with my right to make a choice? What happened to our right to choose, the fi rst right of a free people protected by our constitution? What is there to celebrate on July 4th? As Americans, we celebrated when the Berlin Wall came down in Germany. I pray that the wall of money, deceit, and corruption in this country fall down.

How did our God given rights as a free people to decide whether or not to give our chil-dren a vaccination get stolen from us? We need to take back our rights.

P.S. What mainstream newspaper would allow this opinion to be published in their paper? Do you know our free press has been stolen also? It’s all the same thing.Editor’s NOTE:

Well, of course, it is Connection Magazine (who is our ‘free press’). AND, this magazine has had something in every issue regarding Vac-cines, Vaccinations (hard, scientifi c research), and horrifi c, real-life testimonials about beloved children whose lives have been ‘taken’ from Vac-cines either by death or autism, etc., etc. This information has been in almost every magazine issue of Connection Magazine for 23 years now. —Pattie Mills

restoring balance to the lives of the occupants. Beauty has an important role to play in this. Our home is a mirror that can reflect positive chi (energy) to us. This, in turn, p o s i t i v e l y affects our lives. Why not surround ourselves with more beauty?

When we surround ourselves with things that spark joy or make our hearts sing, it makes us happy, it helps us to relax and gives a feeling of inner peace. In today’s fast-paced, fear-based modern way of living, we need all the peace, relaxation, beauty and joy that we can get!

Sometimes, it’s hard to make time for Beauty. Many people feel they are too busy. It’s not uncommon for bedrooms to be the least decorated room and often the most neglected room in the house. Why put effort into a room that most guests will never see? But what

about what you see? From the perspective of Feng

Shui, which is all about how our space affects our health and wellbeing, the bedroom is the most important room in the house! It’s the last thing you see before going to bed and the first thing you see when you wake up; those moments have a profound effect on the rest of your life. Imagine what your life would be like if what you saw in those moments was beauty?

Last year, I worked hard to bring beauty to my bedroom. I knew my bedroom needed a transformation, but I had a lot of resistance to the expense and the work it would take. I started with a few of the easy things first, and stalled for a while mulling over the more challenging changes. Then, some special guests were coming to visit, my teacher and his fiancé, and I would be giving them my room. Now I had a deadline!

I began my search looking for a new duvet cover that truly made my heart sing. It took awhile to find just the right one. The one I found is gorgeous and it set the tone for the rest of the room.

I never liked the blinds that came with my rental and I was dreading figuring out what to replace them with. Having a highly sensitive nose and a sensitivity to chemicals (I can smell the chemicals in fabrics)

had me steering away from many of the easier ready-made options. I was looking for something soft that would also block out the light. My friend, who I call the sewing wizardess, helped me make curtains. We had lots of fun and the result is stunning!

It’s important to hold to your own vision of beauty, not someone else’s. After a few more finishing touches, the beautification in my bedroom was completed. Now every time I walk in, actually every time I even glance into the room, I smile and feel a sense of peace, joy and inner harmony.

Feng Shui:

Beauty in the Bedroom

by Malin AshbyBoard-certified Naturopath

IN MY LAST article I wrote about “Seeking the Underlining Causes of Imbalance”, p28 of Oct-Nov

2015. Today, let’s talk about o x i d a t i v e stress and free radicals, how they work and how they create disease.

If you compare the cells in our bodies to car engines, they have similar combustion engines. When we are young, our enzymes, like catalytic converters in car engines, function to clean up the toxic by-products our bodies generate. As we age, our bodies produce more free radicals and fewer of the special enzymes that fight them. This leads to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress represents an imbalance between the production and manifestation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and a biological system’s ability to readily detoxify at the cellular level.

We metabolize our food by combining digested food with oxygen, which furnishes energy to our bodies. This process can also

generate dangerous byproducts. These include free radicals. Free radicals are electronically unstable atoms or molecules capable of stripping electrons from other molecules. In their wake, they create even more unstable molecules that then attack their neighbors in a domino-like fashion. This causes toxic effects through the production of secondary free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA. While one antioxidant molecule can fight only one or two free radicals before it is depleted, the body’s free radical-fighting enzymes can each eliminate up to one million molecules per second, every second, without being used up in the process.

Much has been learned about oxidative stress in the last decade, and it is now often seen as an imbalance that has its origins in our genes, and the ways in which gene expression is regulated. At the center of this new focus is the transcription factor called Nrf2, which is now referred to as the “master regulator” of the anti-oxidant response and modulates the expression of hundreds of genes, including the antioxidant enzymes.

Thus the impairment of Nrf2 provides a logical explanation for the connections between observable oxidative stress and perhaps 200

human diseases. This implies that the immune and inflammatory systems may present the largest demand for increased anti-oxidant protection under the common control of Nrf2. Learn more at the research site (Mol Aspects Med. 2011 Aug:l32 (4-6):234-46:10.1016/ j.mam2011.10.006. EPub 2011 Oct 15).

Protandim, which helps increase the anti-oxidant enzymes, contains some herbal ingredients such as milk thistle, bacopa, Ashwagandha, green tea, and tumeric. These herbs stimulate the antioxidant enzymes. See the article entitled “Upregulation of phase II enzymes through phytochemical activation of Nrf2 protects cardiomyocytes against oxidative stress.” This research article was published in Free Radical Biol Med, 2013 March; 56: 102-111. dpi: 10.1016/j.freerad biomed. 2012. 11.016. Epub 2012 Nov 30. In this article, the researchers convincingly state that there is significant modulation by Protandim of pathways involving antioxidant enzymes, which is done so with a highly synergistic phytochemical Nrf2 activator, found in Protandim. In other words the use of Nrf2 may be a remedy for oxidative stress.

Center for Health NotesThe

Dr. Katie Dashtban

by G. Katie Dashtban, Psy.D.

IMAGINE YOU WERE able to have a dialogue with your own thoughts. It’d be something like

the two angels on your shoulders talking back and forth. Let’s call the angel on your right shoulder “Posi-tive Thoughts” and the angle on your left shoulder “Negative Thoughts.”

Now, think of a time when you were feeling pretty down, depressed,

hopeless, irri-tated, tearful or sad. Try to remember where were you and who were you with (maybe alone?) and what were you do-ing (maybe try to fall asleep and

couldn’t?)Now try to remember some of

the thoughts that were going through your mind at that time, maybe even going through your mind right now as you are thinking of that moment.

See if you can jot down some of your thoughts.

For example, let’s assume the following thoughts:

1. I blew it;2. They wont want to see me again;3. Everyone will think I am a fool;4. I can’t believe I could not pull it

off;5. I am just too slow, too stupid, or

too “something”; 6. It’s now over, I will not be able to

redeem myself again.

Now, let’s say that the positive thoughts (right shoulder angel) come from a place where you are accept-

ing yourself with all your flaws and all your perfections and whatever in between. No judgment; all loving and comfortable with what and who you are. And let’s imagine the negative thoughts (left shoulder angel) come from a place where you are highly self-critical, punitive, unkind, and a hard to please person. Now imagine this conversation between the two angels:

Left Angel: “You blew it, they won’t want to see you again, and you are just too slow and too stupid.”

Right angel: “You are right, I did seem to be slower than some of the other people, but also a bit faster than a few other ones too. And yes, it might just be true that these people may choose to not see me again and instead choose to invite those people faster than me. And, yes it might even be true that my level of smarts is only so much, and I am sure there are smarter people than me in this world, and some who are less smart than me. But I love myself the way I am. I re-fuse to make myself feel bad, ashamed and be critical of myself over qualities that actually describe me.

So, while it might have been nice to be wittier, it sure is nice to be what I am. I am fine, and I will be OK, no matter who invites to see me.”

Next time you find yourself torn with sad and depressed feelings, iden-tify what the angels on each shoulder are saying. Then use “Acceptance” as a technique to reduce those depressed feelings. And, unexpectedly, you might notice a welcomed sigh of relief from those awful negative feelings.

How Can Acceptance and Commitment Lift Depression?

by Trish O’Connor, LSCW

THE TRANSFORMATION GAME® was developed by Joy Drake and Kathy

Tyler at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland (www.Findhorn.org). The Findhorn Foundation is a spiritual community and international center for holistic learning helping to unfold a new human consciousness and create a positive, sustainable future. For forty years, these founding principles have guided the Findhorn community: n Deep inner listening and acting

from that source of wisdomn Co-creation with the intelligence

of naturen Service to the worldThe Transformation Game reflects

the essence of the Findhorn experience. Since the first Game was played there in 1978, thousands of people have

benefitted from this powerful interactive tool that provides a way of understanding and transforming the way you play

your life. The Transformation

Game provides a playful yet substantial approach to self-assessment and transformation. It looks at the kinds of experiences you create, how you react to them, and how you might change your responses to realize your highest potential and achieve your purposes in

life. As you play the Game you become more aware both of your personal strengths and of the limitations you place on yourself. The Game mirrors your life with accuracy, offering clear feedback and insights that can help you:n Clarify important personal issues;n Understand patterns of stress and

change non-productive habits;n Uncover, explore and allow new

possibilities in you life;n Handle transitions – health,

career or relationship changes; andn Remove blocks to success and

fulfillment. You begin by choosing a playing

focus, which provides the foundation for “the Game.” Select one particular situation that you are currently dealing with in your life. For example, you might choose to focus on pursuing a career that more clearly reflects your life’s purpose or on deepening an interpersonal relationship. Then you make a clear statement such as “I intend to clarify my career aspirations,”

“I intend to release my fear of intimacy” or “I intend to nurture and honor my physical body.” As you hold your focus in mind, the Game will speak directly to the issues it raises and provide clear feedback on how your life can be transformed to reach your goal. The experiences you face while playing will give you clarity, understanding and new directions on your specific issue.

As Mary Inglis of Innerlinks UK (www.innerlinks.com) explains the Game: “One way of viewing it is

that it aims to recreate in miniature the soul’s journey through life, providing a context where people can look at the kinds of experiences they create and assess the value of their particular patterns, attitudes and responses to life. It highlights strengths, identifies blind spots and limitations, and brings fresh perspectives to current challenges.”

On Wednesday, March 23rd , from 6:30 to 8:00pm, Trish O’Connor is hosting a Transformation Game demonstration and Q&A session at the Center for Health in Santa Cruz, CA. The talk is free of charge and all you need to bring is an open mind. Space is limited, please call ahead: (831) 818-9944.

by Sheryl Walters The tremendous benefits of regular mas-

sage are irreplaceable to the human body. Mas-sage is a variety of sometimes ancient techniques that manipulate the soft tissues of the body. It can definitely relax you, but there are some benefits of massage that go far beyond relaxation.

Pain and anxiety are two common prob-lems associated with receiving massage therapy. By soothing muscles and nerves a greater state of well being is achieved for the recipient. When you take this concept further you find that massage can also benefit chronic pain and even self esteem. Massage allows for person to person contact that promotes feelings of comfort and soothing.

Medically massage is used for sports related injuries and to promote optimum perfor-mance of muscles. Through a pattern of exercise and massage, injuries can be avoided and greater athletic achievements can be accomplished. The regular massage prevents small injuries from becoming bigger ones and the athlete avoids the pain cycle all together. Massage is also an immune system enhancer that benefits patients

with chronic immune system diseases like HIV. Increasing the circulation of healthy blood cells in the body helps these patients fight off disease better and keep a more positive mental attitude that is crucial for their survival.

Infants and babies have shown positive responses to massage through toddlerhood. The birthing process is often made easier and less

complicated by regular massage during preg-nancy and through-out the labor process. Massage for premature babies promotes better weight gain, and mas-sage for babies with diabetes correlates with better lifelong compli-ance with regimens and healthier lifestyle choices.

The effects of massage on patients with high blood pressure should also not be over-looked. Massage can play a key part in the regulation and control of chronic high blood pressure by not only relaxing the patient, but also by helping the central nervous system to balance as it regulates blood flow throughout the body more efficiently. Regular massage combined with isometric exercise has been shown to improve both the blood pressure and blood regulation in patients.

Yoga: An Alternative Treatment for Depressionby Stephanie Brail

Feeling depressed or down? Don’t auto-matically reach for an anti-depressant. Do some yoga. These days, the typical treatment for de-pression comes in the form of a pill, which can often lead to serious side effects and dependency. Prior to modern drug companies, however, sages from the East discovered a method of calming the mind and soothing the spirit. These physi-

cal exercises, called “asanas,” are what modern Westerners typically think of when they hear the term “yoga.”

The roots of yoga date back tens of thou-sands of years. Yoga, in the grander sense of the word, is not just physical exercise. It is more than asanas. It consists of an entire philosophy and prescription for emotional and spiritual well-being.

Yoga asanas (or postures) were developed

to prepare the body and mind for long periods of meditation. Ancient yogis believed that it was difficult to reach heights of spiritual awareness with a body that was suffering from ill health. The mind also needed to become calm and serene, and this was accomplished through the physical practice of asana.

Through trial and error over thousands of years, yoga evolved to become a powerful and

effective mind/body practice. Thus, yoga is a special form of exercise specifically designed to calm the mind and reduce mental chatter and worry. Certainly, you might feel some stress relief from jogging or tennis, but yoga, unlike most western forms of exercise, was actually designed to create a sense of peace and serenity.

Western studies have shown that regular exercise can provide relief from depression. In addition, yoga postures have been specifically shown to increase levels of the neurotrans-

mitter GABA, which may alleviate depression. Furthermore, as many enthusiastic practitioners of yoga will tell you, yoga seems to go beyond the benefits of general exercise and helps increase overall happiness. How does yoga improve mental health?

On a physical level, yoga postures are de-signed to massage the internal organs, increasing

Martial Arts The Wayby Professor Chris Smith

As a boy growing up in Philadelphia, sports played a huge role in my life. After school and weekends were

spent playing every sport imaginable. Whether it was pick-up games with neighborhood friends or organized team sports, the majority of my waking hours consisted of a constant stream of wins and losses. Nobody like to lose, but it is through losing that we learn to truly win.

Over the past twenty-five years in my role as physical educator and Martial arts instructor, I have seen an enormous increase in the frequency of “poor sports”. People today just don’t seem to know how to lose. I would have to attribute this unfortunate phe-nomenon to the decrease in physical activities, and the many-fold increase in the use of technology. An additional factor may well be the pressure to succeed at all costs in an increasingly competitive environment. Lack of positive guidance and role models may also play a part.

It is reaching a point where it is hard to watch. An individual’s self worth is not based upon winning or losing. Self worth is structured around the inevitable successes and failures that are a part of everything

we do. How we integrate our emotions surrounding loss is a very important strategy for life. I have seen count-less “champions” quit because they couldn’t handle the inevitable down-side of their success. At the same time, I have seen countless “losers” perse-vere through their defeats to become true champions not only in their sport

of choice, but in life in general. I’ll take the “underdog” over the “golden boy” any day.

Martial arts is an excellent vehicle for the formulation of a “good sport.” Throughout our martial arts practice, we will be dealt countless op-portunities to lose with dignity. I have never met a student who, if they stick with martial arts, doesn’t turn out to be a an all around champion, win or lose. Being on the receiving end of defeat is as much a part of being a martial artist

as is tying our belt. There will always be someone faster, stronger, and more technical. The longer you go without realizing this, the more abrupt the realization will be.

I have seen thousands of stu-dents come through our academy. Some have been “better sports” than others. Our staff is relentless in ensur-ing that our students are honorable in both victory and defeat. It does not come naturally to some. There are a myriad of opportunities for us to work with our students, when the subject of “sore loser” arises. It is not always easy, but we know that it is unaccept-able to allow the concept to fester. It must be addressed, until the student’s character reaches a point where they can readily accept the fact that they will win some and lose some. We have a saying in jiu jitsu, “You’re either winning or learning.” Chris Smith is the owner and head instructor of Tiger Martial Arts in Aptos. Founded in 1990, he is the only Black belt instructor in Santa Cruz county to be awarded his black belt from a member of the world famous Gracie family. Check out their website at www.tigerbjj.com

and decreasing blood flow to targeted areas. This circulates the blood and lymph, thus removing stale bodily fluids from vital organs and helping flush toxins. The physical movement can also stimulate certain hormones and neurotransmitters, leading to posi-tive feelings and emotions.

Additionally, according to the Eastern medical model, yoga exercises are also designed to specifically move the “prana” or life force energy in the body (traditional Oriental medicine calls this “chi”). Keeping this life force fresh and alive is vital to well-being, according to Eastern philosophy.

Yoga poses stimulate certain aspects of the body’s energetic system, comprised of “chakras” (energy cen-ters) and “nadis” (the yogic term for “meridians” or energy channels). As stuck prana is moved and energized, old emotional wounds manifesting as blockages in the energy centers and channels can be released. This may explain why so many yoga practitio-ners experience a sense of emotional release from practicing certain poses, such as a spontaneous expression of tears, providing a sense of extreme relief and peace afterwards.

The special breathing exer-cises that go along with yoga (called “pranayama”) also serve to energize the body by bringing fresh quantities of prana in through the breath. These breathing exercises can also alleviate anxiety and create a sense of calm and

Fitness & SportsVASPER: The Workout

of the Futureby Beau Jansen

Vasper, which stands for Vas-cular Performance was cre-ated by scientific vision-ary Peter Wasowski. By combining a unique and precise compression technology, body temperature cool-

ing and grounding, Vasper is able to precipitate extraordi-nary physiological results. The list of athletes and organizations who have implemented Vasper is impressive and includes: NASA, The San Jose Sharks, The Texas Rangers, UCSF, EXOS, APEX, United States Special Opera-tions Command, The Naval Special Warfare Development Group, The 3rd Special Forces Group, Neurologi-cal Surgery Inc. founder Concussion Expert Robert C. Cantu MD, and US Olympic athletes and Santa Cruz CORE Fitness and Rehab.

In an interview with Wired Magazine, Wasowski explained: “Watch a child and you do not see them walk -- they move quickly, they play and expend a tremendous amount

of energy,” says Wasowski. “If you were to look inside their muscles you would see high concentrations of lactic acid, and the higher the concentration, t h e stronger the feedback t o the brain requesting

growth hormones and other anabol-

ic hormones, s u c h a s

DHEA,

IGF1 and testosterone, which rebuild damaged tissues.”(1)

As we age our natural anabolic hormones begin to decline. By using the compression and cooling technol-ogy together with grounding, Vasper is able to create a physiological response in adults equal to high intensity ex-ercise without the wear and tear as-sociated. The net result is that Vasper stimulates the brain to release large amounts of endogenous hormones to hormones that rejuvenate, rebuild and heal. This downstream anabolic effect can have different effects in different people, some feel highly energized and ready to exercise, while others feel the need to sleep. We have found that

well-being.What type of yoga should you use for depression?

Not all yoga is the same. Since its introduction to the West, yoga has branched off into a variety of styles and flavors. The type of yoga you choose should reflect your physical requirements as well as your spiritual interests.

Some kinds of yoga are very physically strenuous and can poten-tially create more stress if you are in a class where everyone is powering through a challenging set, leaving you feeling inadequate or overwhelmed. Yoga styles such as power yoga or ashtanga can be quite physically challenging. Yoga flow classes may be more about losing pounds and sweating out calories than creating mental peace and clarity. Unless you are already an athlete and looking for a strenuous workout, you might consider trying a more relaxed style.

If you are just starting out with yoga, you might try a beginner’s yoga class or a gentle yoga class. Restor-ative yoga classes can be wonderfully rejuvenating; they consist of gentle poses, often using bolsters and props to allow you to rest and relax in the pose.

Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that involves dynamic, repetitive movements and breath work to move the energy and lift the spirit. It is the only form of yoga that specifically targets certain glands in the brain, such as the pituitary and the pineal glands, to activate them for improved health and well-being. (For an excellent book on the subject, see Meditation as Medicine by Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D. and Cameron Stauth.)

Ideally, if you are looking to yoga to improve mental health, con-sider finding a class that combines some meditation before or after the postures. Meditation has also been shown to increase positive emotions such as loving-kindness and happiness in some studies.

With the variety of yoga styles available, you may have to try out a few different classes to see what appeals to you the most. Do not be discouraged if you aren’t immediately drawn to the first class you attend. Be aware that not all yoga classes are equal. Some classes include pranayama breath work and others do not. Some include chanting and others do not. You may even find yoga classes in your area specifically for Christians, while oth-ers may be more secular. It’s a good idea to check out a few studios and classes and find the one that resonates

with you the most.Remember, yoga alone cannot

cure depression if you are otherwise treating your body and your mind badly. Alcohol, drug use (including mind-altering prescription drugs), poor diet, lack of sleep, and other bad habits can negate the positive effects of yoga.

Doing yoga regularly will also make a huge difference in its ef-fectiveness. Ideally, practice yoga for at least 20 minutes daily, or at a minimum three times per week. You can supplement outside yoga classes with a simple, at-home practice. With the popularity of yoga soaring, DVDs and books on yoga are plentiful.

There’s a reason why people who practice yoga often credit it for changing their lives. Unlike no other exercise on the planet, yoga provides physical as well as emotional benefits that can create true happiness and well-being. Best of all, you can do it at home for free, with no negative side effects.Stephanie Brail is a wellness coach, healer and hypnotherapist. Several major food companies experienced major backlash from consumers who felt betrayed when the company’s contributions to the 2012 anti-labeling campaign in California came to light.

Those donating to the Washington campaign certainly wanted to avoid the same fate. Fortunately, their scheme did not go unnoticed.

On October 16, 2013, Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed suit against the GMA on behalf of the State of Washington, alleging the association had violated the state’s campaign disclosure laws — both by failing to register a political committee, and by concealing the true source of its campaign funds.

According to Ferguson, the GMA began plotting and planning how to best defeat Initiative 522 back in December of 2012, placing particular emphasis on the establishment of a separate GMA fund to “combat current threats and better shield individual companies from attack.”

Internal Records Reveal Intent to Lie and Conceal

The Attorney General’s Office recently announced that documents related to the lawsuit have now been unsealed. This includes internal GMA memos and documents detailing the association’s “systematic effort to conceal the sources of $11 million in contributions to oppose Initiative 522.”

The GMA even provided “media guidance” to members about how to lie when confronted about their contributions to the anti-labeling campaign. According to the Attorney General’s press release:

“Regarding possible questions on their ‘position on the ballot initiative’ or their ‘financial support,’ GMA suggested the following:

Q: Is your company providing funding to the ‘No on I-522’ campaign in Washington State?

A: No. Company X is a member of the Grocery Manufacturers Association and supports the work the association does on product safety, health and wellbeing, sustainability and a host of other issues.

We support GMA, and its position on genetically modified ingredients and the association’s opposition to I-522 in Washington State. GMA’s views and financial support for the ‘No on I-522’ campaign reflect the views of most food and beverage manufacturers in the United

States.’GMA rejected an initial draft

statement where members would say that GMA ‘uses the funds at our discretion,’ finding that it ‘will lead the press and or NGO groups right where we don’t want them to go — meaning, ‘are you assessing you [sic] members, or do you have a ‘secret’ fund of some kind.’“

Summary Judgment Asks for Minimum $14 Million Penalty

Attorney General Ferguson recently filed a motion for summary judgment, asking the judge to rule in the state’s favor without the need for a trial. The hearing was set for Feb. 19 in Thurston County Superior Court.

Ferguson has requested maximum penalties to be applied. As noted in his motion, “While proof of intentional concealment is not required, state law permits treble penalties if the fact-finder determines a person intentionally concealed the source of a political contribution or expenditure.”

In this case, such proof does exist, and according to Ferguson, the GMA engaged in five separate acts of intentional concealment and the penalty should therefore be tripled for each count.

The GMA also violated “several state laws” by failing to file more than 58 disclosure reports of contributions and expenditures.

According to Ferguson’s motion:

“GMA’s conduct was so egregious that it ranks amongst the worst in state history. GMA worked to ‘shield’ the actions of major food companies from the very public entitled to know who was trying to

influence their vote on Initiative 522.“This type of blatant disregard

for state disclosure laws and the transparency demanded by the people of Washington deserves the Court’s closest scrutiny. GMA’s significant wrongdoing deserves an equally significant response by this Court ...

“Applying even one of the statutory remedies, the Court should award — at a minimum — a penalty equal to the over $14 million GMA concealed from the public.”

Can You Really Trust GMA Members?

The GMA’s 300+ members include chemical/pesticide, GE seed, and processed food and beverage companies. Together, these industries are working in a symbiotic fashion to grow, subsidize, and manufacture foods that have been clearly linked to growing obesity and chronic disease epidemics.

In this case, 34 of these disease purveyors, including Monsanto, took part of this illegal money laundering scheme. And to what aim? To lie to you, and I do literally mean lie. I never knew that it is legal to tell bold-faced lies in campaign ads that have no relation to the truth.

These lies prevent you from knowing what’s in the food they sell. So far, Campbell Soup Company is the only company that has vowed to change its ways and give consumers what they want — the truth.

Vermont’s GMO labeling law — the first in the U.S. — takes effect on July 1 this year. Campbell’s recently broke ranks with the GMA and the rest of the food industry by announcing it will comply with the Vermont law.

Campbell’s executives also

said they will reformulate certain products to remove the GMO ingredients.

Moreover, Campbell’s confirmed that food prices will remain unchanged — which is what we’ve been saying all along. Contrary to industry fear mongering, it really doesn’t cost anything extra to add a few words to the label, and Campbell’s has now confirmed this fact.

But aside from Campbell’s, can you really trust any GMA member to be honest, open and forthright about their products?

History and legal fact is now against them, and if you care even in the slightest about the nature of the food you feed yourself and your family, I urge you to take a close hard look at your favorite brands to ascertain whether or not they can be trusted.

Boycotting GMA Members Made Easy

For the past three years, there’s been an ongoing call to boycott GMA member brands until they cancel their GMA membership, and if you haven’t done so before, now would be a good time to get serious about boycotting these traitor brands.

There’s no two ways about it; by being members of the GMA, they are affiliated with a criminal element that destroys their reputation and severely undermines their integrity.

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) has created a smart phone application called Buycott, which has already been downloaded by almost half a million people, to step up the boycott against GMA member brands. The app also helps you determine ethical brands that deserve your patronage.

If you don’t have a smartphone, or if you don’t want to use your smart phone in the grocery store, it’s even simpler. Don’t buy any processed food or beverage, or any food whatsoever unless it has one or more of these labels:

n “USDA 100% Organic”n “100% grassfed”n “Non-GMO Verified”

FDA Vows to Begin Testing Food for Glyphosate

Besides avoiding GMOs, another major reason to choose organic food is to avoid toxic pesticides. One of the most commonly used pesticides in the world, glyphosate — the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup — was reclassified as a Class 2A “probable human carcinogen” just last year.

Because glyphosate has been wrongly assumed to be safe — a

claim Monsanto still clings to in face of all the evidence stacking up against it — it’s never been on the list of pesticides that the U.S. government tests foods for.

Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally announced it will begin testing foods for glyphosate residues. According to Time Magazine, the decision “comes after the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) rebuked the agency for failing to do such assessments and for not disclosing that short-coming to the public.”

During its 2014 audit, the GAO found a number of deficiencies in the FDA’s pesticide residue program, but the failure to test for glyphosate was specifically criticized.

According to FDA spokeswoman Lauren Sucher, “The agency is now considering assignments for Fiscal Year 2016 to measure glyphosate in soybeans, corn, milk, and eggs, among other potential foods.” Start-up costs for the implementation of glyphosate testing have been estimated at about $5 million. As noted in the featured article:

“Under the existing regulatory framework, the EPA sets standards — known as tolerances — for pesticide residues on foods. An arm of the USDA monitors meat, poultry, and processed egg products to ensure they do not violate EPA’s tolerances, while FDA monitors other foods, including fruits and vegetables.

The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service gathers annual residue data for highly consumed foods. But unlike the USDA, FDA holds enforcement authority, the ability to take action against a company, if residues exceed legal levels, though critics have charged the FDA’s enforcement powers are weak.”

Consensus Statement Reiterates Concerns About Glyphosate Risks

Unfortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) raised the allowable limits for glyphosate in food in 2013, and there’s reason to suspect that current allowable limits may be set too far high to protect human health. So, unless the allowable limits get a second in-depth review, you may be lulled into a false sense of security if FDA testing shows levels within allowable limits.

On February 17, a consensus statement on glyphosate risks was published in the journal Environmental Health.

Noting that “regulatory estimates of tolerable daily intakes for glyphosate in the United States

DURING THE 2013 BALLOT CAMPAIGN to label genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in

Washington State, the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) resorted to an illegal money-laundering scheme to protect the identity of members who donated funds to the opposing campaign.

and European Union are based on outdated science,” the authors call for more independent studies, including biomonitoring studies and lifetime exposure studies, as well as more comprehensive studies to ascertain the risks associated with exposure during different stages of human development, and in combination with other chemicals.

Congress Presses EPA About Health Risks of Dow’s Herbicide Enlist Duo

Pesticide exposure is finally starting to get the attention it deserves, although we still have a very long way to go. In related news, 35 members of the U.S. Congress are now questioning the EPA about its review of Dow Chemical’s new herbicide, Enlist Duo, which contains both glyphosate and 2,4-D — a component of Agent Orange.

The weed killer is a next-generation “solution” to combat glyphosate resistant weeds, and will be used on Dow’s 2,4-D and glyphosate-resistant corn and soybeans.

According to the Chicago Tribune:“In a letter sent to McCarthy late last week,

Democratic lawmakers from across the country said they were concerned about the health risks posed by Dow’s Enlist Duo herbicide ... When the EPA approved Enlist Duo in 2014, the agency tossed aside evidence of kidney lesions in lab rats that Dow’s own scientists said were caused by 2,4-D, clearing the way for children to be exposed to levels considered for decades to be unsafe ...

“‘We were concerned to learn that, during this process, EPA dismissed a key study linking 2,4-D to kidney abnormalities based on one scientist’s analysis, and in doing so, effectively gave the green light for 41 times more of the chemical to enter the America diet than was previously allowed,’ the lawmakers wrote.”

Crazy enough, the EPA claims 2,4-D is “so safe that nobody would be harmed even if every corn and soybean farmer in America sprayed Enlist Duo.” As usual, it seems much of the “confidence” in toxins like 2,4-D comes from its longtime use, but just because something has been used for a long time does NOT mean it’s safe.

2,4-D and other herbicides of this class have been linked to a number of health problems, including immune system cancers, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine disruption and reproductive problems. Last year, the World Health Organization’s cancer research agency classified 2,4-D as “possibly carcinogenic.”

So when you add a probable carcinogen (glyphosate) together with a possible carcinogen (2,4-D), what’s the likelihood, really, of that combination being safe?

USDA Inspector General to Investigate Charges of Censorship

The unfortunate reality is that various industries have grown so exceedingly powerful and greedy; they pose a serious threat to human health by manipulating and censoring the science that would thwart their enterprise. The chemical industry in particular has a long history of this kind of behavior. Many if not most of our regulatory agencies also have a history of protecting industry interests over public and environmental health.

In the first week of November 2015, Jonathan Lundgren, who spent the last 11 years working as an entomologist at the USDA, filed a whistleblower complaint against the agency, claiming he’d been harassed and retaliated against after speaking about research showing that neonicotinoids had adverse effects on bees. (http://bit.ly/1QC17zZ)

In the U.S., nearly all corn, about 90 percent of canola, and approximately half of all soybeans are treated with neonicotinoids. And, as the use of these pesticides has gone up, bee and Monarch butterfly populations have plummeted. After publicly discussing his findings, Lundgren claims: “USDA managers blocked publication

of his research, barred him from talking to the media, and disrupted operations at the laboratory he oversaw.”

According to Agri-Pulse, the Agriculture Department’s inspector general, Phyllis Fong, has now received so many complaints about harassment and censorship, she’s opening a broad investigation to assess “whether there is a systemic problem in the department.”

It’s time to take organics to the next level. In this video (https://youtu.be/IwAk3B8Ai34), Ronnie Cummins, co-founder and International Director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) and its Mexico affiliate Via Organica, discusses the International Foundation for Organic Agriculture’s (IFOAM) initiative called Organic 3.0.

In the last few decades, the organic market has grown into a multi-billion dollar market, and we’ve now come to realize that organic farming offers solutions to many pressing problems, including a number of environmental problems, such as rising CO2 levels and water shortages.

It’s time to take organic farming seriously, because the alternatives are unsustainable. We simply cannot continue to poison our soil, water, air, animals, and our own bodies with toxic chemicals. As Ronnie says, “We know things now that we didn’t know 20 or 30 years ago, about the soil, about how regenerative farming practices can actually suck down a lot of the excess carbon that’s in the atmosphere.”

We also understand the destructive impact of factory farming of animals, and that there’s a much better way to raise food animals, through holistic herd management. Consumers created the organic market, and consumer demand has allowed it to steadily grow. It’s imperative to keep the momentum going, as organic farming is the solution that will ultimately ensure healthy food for generations to come.

Reject Any and All Attempts to Pre-empt or Delay Vermont Labeling Law!

As expected, industry-friendly politicians are hard at work trying to come up with ways to avoid mandatory GMO labeling. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts has created a bill that would require the Agriculture Department to set a voluntary standard for GMO food labels, which would pre-empt state labeling laws and require the USDA to provide consumers with information describing the benefits of biotechnology!

According to Roberts: “This chairman’s mark serves as a framework to find a solution for a patchwork of laws, and I will continue to work with members of the Agriculture Committee on potential amendments.”

Senator Debbie Stabenow has announced she backs Roberts’ effort, saying: “I support Chairman Roberts’ urgency to address this critical issue and remain committed to working with him to find a solution that provides consumers with access to information they

desire and certainty for our food industry. There is still a lot of work to do to get to a bill that can get the broad bipartisan support needed to pass the U.S. Senate.”

This bill is completely unacceptable, and must be stopped. As must any amendments to the bill. I urge you to contact your Senators today, and tell them NOT to compromise on GMO labelling! As noted by OCA:

“As proposed, Roberts’ bill would preempt Vermont’s GMO labelling law, and replace state mandatory labelling laws with a federal voluntary labelling plan.... Senate Democrats will likely try to amend the bill with unacceptable compromises, in order to ram it through the Senate before Vermont’s law is set to take effect on July 1.”

TAKE ACTION TODAY! Dial (888) 897-0174 to call your Senators, and ask them to reject Sen. Roberts’ version of the DARK Act, and to oppose any compromise that would block or delay Vermont’s GMO labelling law. You can also sign the OCA’s petition to the Senate.

The FDA is threatening the existence of our food supply. We have to start taking action now. I urge you to share this article

with friends and family. If we act together, we can make a difference and put an end to the absurdity.

QR Codes Are NOT an Adequate Substitute for Package Labels

The biotech industry is trying to push the QR code as an answer for consumer concerns about GE foods. QR stands for Quick Response, and the code can be scanned and read by

smart phones and other QR readers. The code brings you to a

product website that provides further details about the product. The video at http://bit.ly/1LQ505r shows you why this is not an ideal solution. There’s nothing forcing companies to declare GMOs on their website. On the contrary, GE foods are allowed to be promoted as “natural,” which further adds to the confusion.

These so-called “Smart Labels” hardly improve access to information.

Instead, by making “finding the truth” time-consuming and cumbersome, food makers can be assured that most Americans will remain ignorant about the presence of GMOs in their products. Besides, everyone has a right to know what’s in the food. You shouldn’t have to own a smartphone to obtain this information.

Vermont’s mandatory labeling law is scheduled to go into effect July 1. Now Monsanto is going with the only strategy it has

left to block it — a Senate version of H.R.1599, also referred to as the DARK Act (Denying Americans the Right to Know). Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan) is introducing a bill that would preempt Vermont’s GMO labeling law, and replace state mandatory labeling laws with a federal voluntary labeling plan.

Senate Democrats will likely try to amend this bill with unacceptable compromises, in order to ram it

through the Senate before Vermont’s law is set to take effect on July 1. It’s imperative you take action now by contacting your senators. Ask them to reject Sen. Roberts’ DARK Act and oppose any compromise that would block or delay Vermont’s labeling law. It’s critical that we flood Senators’ phone lines – it’s now or never for GMO labeling.

On Tuesday, March 1, the U.S. Senate Committe on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry voted 14 - 6 to send Sen. Pat Roberts’ (R-Kan.) Senate version of the DARK Act (http://1.usa.gov/1pwoO3P) to a vote on the Senate floor.

Roberts’ bill, as proposed, would preempt Vermont’s GMO labeling law, and replace state mandatory labeling laws with a federal voluntary labeling plan.

TAKE ACTION! Dial (888) 897-0174 to call your Senators! Then fill out the form on this page – http://bit.ly/1QxM8u3 – to email your Senators and ask them to reject S. 2609, Sen. Roberts’ DARK Act and also oppose any compromise that would block or delay Vermont’s GMO labeling law. It’s critical that we continue to flood Senators’ phone lines—it’s now or never for GMO labeling. Every Republican on the Senate Ag Committee voted to strip states of the right to require mandatory labeling of GMOs. Also voting for the bill

were three Democrats—Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Sen. Amy Kobuchar (D-Minn.) and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.). (List of committee members at http://1.usa.gov/1QKpmcW.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.),ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, voted against Roberts’ bill. But, Stabenow has told the media that she is still looking for a compromise — a signal that she will propose an amendment when the bill reaches the Senate, possibly calling for mandatory QR codes and/or a delay in the implementation of Vermont’s law, set to take effect July 1. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) also spoke up at the committee hearing to say that, while they wouldn’t vote for the DARK Act, they would support a compromise.

If Sen. Roberts can offer these

six Democrats a compromise they can

support, he’ll have the 60 votes he needs to block Vermont’s

GMO labeling law. Of course, that wouldn’t be a compromise, that would be capitulation. (Compromise might be the QR Codes which

are not good for many reasons!!)

Why wouldn’t Stabenow and others just support a federal mandatory labeling law, one that meets or exceeds Vermont’s standards? To answer that question, all we have to do is follow the money. Sen. Stabenow has taken from the biotech industry and Big Food. One of her top funders is Dow Chemical, maker of the infamous Agent Orange GMOs, engineered to survive Dow’s Enlist Duo, a custom cocktail of two deadly herbicides: Monsanto’s Roundup (a probable carcinogen) and 2,4-d, which was half the formula of the Vietnam-War-era defoliant. The combination is so dangerous that the Environmental Protection Agency has been forced to reconsider its approval.

Michigan-based Kellogg’s,

notorious for hiding GMOs in its so-called “natural” foods and contributing to anti-labeling campaigns, has also funded Stabenow’s campaigns, as has Monsanto.

The money trail also explains why Democrats Klobuchar, Heitkamp and Donnelly are supporting Monsanto’s “rights,” not yours. Klobuchar answers to Minnesota-based General Mills, Land O’ Lakes, Hormel, American Crystal Sugar, and the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative.

Heitkamp is beholden to North Dakota’s GMO sugar beet industry.

And, Donnelly gets his marching orders from donor corporations like Land O’ Lakes, whose subsidiary, Forage Genetics, partnered with Monsanto to bring us GMO alfalfa,Eli Lilly, owner of rBGH (Posilac), the genetically engineered bovine growth hormone developed by Monsanto to force dairy cows to over-produce milk, American Crystal Sugar, the number-one processor of Monsanto’s GMO sugar beets and Coca-Cola, which has spent

$14,350,000 lobbying Congress to block GMO labels over the last two years.

Stabenow, Donnelly, Klobuchar and the rest of Congress need to be reminded that they’re supposed to work for us, not the corporations. If you can’t reach these Senators by phone, tweet them! Use these links to tweet these six Democrats: Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.)

In June of 2015, a well-respected Florida health practitioner, Dr. Jeffrey Brad-street, went missing and was then dis-covered floating face down in a North Carolina river, a bullet hole in his chest.

Foul play? Why would anyone order a hit on a gener-

ous family man who was just trying to do good? The death is still shrouded in mystery. Authorities almost immediately ruled his death a suicide, but his family says otherwise. Who shoots themselves in the chest to commit suicide, while positioned in just such a way that they will fall into a river? So let’S unpack the back Story.

Dr. Bradstreet’s own son was brain damaged following an MMR vaccine at 12 months of age. The experience helped convince the doctor to look into a link between the vaccine and autism. He was working on two leading edge areas of medical inquiry.

First, he was doing research that seemed to support the compelling notion that certain vac-cines could induce autism. He ended up testifying twice about this before Congress. Second, he was working with a new compound out of Switzerland that was greatly relieving, if not outright curing, cancer and other diseases. With vaccine revenues over $25 billion and cancer drugs over $100 billion, pharmaceutical industries risk losing huge profits if research like Bradstreet’s continued positively and reached a wide audience. In fact, it could spell the end of numerous mega corporations.WaS there any evidence to document a financial motive?

Yes, just three days before his death, Brad-street’s research facility had been raided by U.S. government agents to shut down his research and halt his treatment of patients. The warrant that describes the items to be seized indicates a motive to protect pharmaceutical dominance and suppress natural cures.

OK, but such an isolated incident doesn’t mean there’s a major conspiracy to suppress cures and eliminate holistic doctors. Maybe he was depressed, or cheating, or got in with the wrong crowd…dr. nicholaS Gonzalez

Indeed, but what if I told you there was another holistic doctor, Dr. Nicholas J. Gon-zalez, known for helping actress Suzanne Sommers overcome her cancer, who died unexpectedly just a month later. Gonzalez had been in excellent health and his sudden collapse was apparently “cardiac related,” but a subsequent autopsy showed no evidence of this.all riGht, tWo could Still be coin-cidence. What WaS he WorkinG on?

Dr. Gonzalez focused a lot on holistic alternatives to radiation and on exposing the dangers and destructive history of the more than 100 chemotherapy drugs, revealing that they were developed from poisonous nerve gas. There is an interview filmed shortly before his death where he emphasizes the importance of patients believing in whatever treatment they choose.

But, we don’t know what really happened with either of these two doctors. That’s pretty thin evidence claiming any sort of campaign against holistic doctors.

And, if there were three? How about five, or eight, or ten? The tragic reality is that there have been at least thirteen holistic doctors who have “turned up dead or missing” in just a few months. Here is a time line of recent suspicious doctor deaths:

June 19th Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet June 21st Dr. Bruce Hedendal and Dr. Baron

Holt found dead on the East coast of Florida. Dr. Hedendal died in his car and Dr. Holt’s cause of death has yet to be officially determined.

June 29th Dr. Theresa Sievers found mur-dered in her home. Dr. Jeffrey Whiteside goes missing. Reports say he just “walked away.”

July 3rd Dr. Patrick Fitzpatrick, MD, goes missing without a trace. His truck and trailer were found on the side of the road.

July 10th Lisa Riley, Doctor of Osteopathy, found in her home with a gunshot wound to her head.

July 19th Dr. Ron Schwartz found murdered by a gunshot wound to the chest in his home on the East Coast of Florida.

July 21st Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez July 21st Dr. Abdul-Karim, holistic dentist.

Found dead on the side of the road at 10pm EST.July 23rd Dr. Jeffery Whiteside is found dead

in Door County with a .22 caliber close to his body.August 14th Osteopath Dr. Mary Rene

Bovier, found stabbed in her home in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

September 16th Dr. Mitch Gaynor is found dead outside his country home outside of Manhat-tan where he practiced. The local sheriff quickly calls it a suicide.

October 11th Dr. Marie Paas is found dead of an alleged suicide.

October 29th Dr. Jerome Block “jumped” to his death from the Central Park West Apartments.and What did they have in common beSideS beinG “holiStic?”

Almost all of them were operating in ways that undermined traditional pharmaceutical-based treatments.

I can understand the risk of exposing that certain vaccines seem to be causing autism, but what is this cancer treatment they were working with?

It’s called GcMAF. It stands for Globulin component Macrophage Activating Factor and it’s a human protein that the body makes naturally, but that some people lack in part or entirely. In this video, you can see the GcMAF activating the body’s own macropohages, which can then attack and destroy breast cancer cells in vitro:

V I D E O : w w w . y o u t u b e . c o m /watch?v=D1WZrnCcH24

“GcMAF and/or oral Colostrum MAF mac-rophage activation therapy is indicated in the treatment of any diseases where there is immune dysfunction or where the immune system is com-promised,” explains the website of a clinic out of Japan that sells an oral form of GcMAF.here’S a diaGram of hoW Gcmaf WorkS:

What iS thiS Gcmaf uSeful for?Besides cancer, the conditions listed as

appropriate candidates for benefit from GcMAF treatment include:

Autoimmune diseasesEpstein-Barr Virus (EBV)Hepatitis B virus (HBV)Herpes Simplex virus (HSV)CystitisHepatitis C virus (HCV)Multiple sclerosis (MS)Urinary tract infection (UTI)Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)EndometriosisChronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis)IgA deficiency disorderMyalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)Mycobacteria infectionsParkinson’s diseaseTuberculosisFibromyalgiaHuman papillomavirus (HPV) Lupus (Systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE)HIV AIDSDengue feverPneumonia infectionWarts caused by viral infectionNorovirus

Malaria Influenza virus (flu)Herpes simplex virus (HSV)Q fever (Coxiella burnetii)Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)Chicken pox (varicella zoster virus)PsoriasisRespiratory tract infectionsUlcerative colitisCrohn’s diseaseType 1 diabetes (T1DM)Insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM)Type 1.5 diabetes• Latent autoimmune diabetes of adults (LADA)

GcMAF is also showing itself to be effective for treating autism.

“In a study of 1500 children with autism, 85% had high levels of viruses and a compromised im-mune system. All 1500 received weekly GcMAF injections and 70% of the children responded to the treatment with reduced symptoms and another 15% made full recoveries. The other 15% did not respond. It was stated that the reduction of autistic symptoms is permanent provided that GcMAF has been taken long enough for the body to produce its own GcMAF which typically takes 24 weeks.”

I personally know individuals who have been dramatically helped by taking GcMAF. Marco Ruggerio delivered a paper at the AutismOne conference in May of 2015—just before these murders started. Over the summer, patients who were using it had their supplies cut off from their original source in Switzerland where the company was being harassed and threatened. Subsequent shipments from another country were intercepted at the U.S. border, though eventually allowed through. Authorities in the UK have also been confiscating this beneficial compound.

There is the documentation for a patent involving GcMAF, held by Japanese researcher, Nobuto Yamamoto.

Dr. Robert O. Young, holistic practitioner and author of the pH Miracles books, now says he is wearing a body camera. Others have hired body-guards. Some continue with business as usual. Some have stopped recommending GcMAF to patients out of fear for their lives. This, of course,

is most likely the secondary reason for as-sassinations of holistic doctors—to intimidate others into stopping their alternative practices, their purchase of natural remedies and their speaking out against the traditional cancer sickness industry that banks on the continuing wave of new cases.

It is a sad irony of our current upside-down Orwellian police state that some of the families of the victims have tried, without success, to get the FBI to do deeper inves-tigations.are you claiminG theSe deathS are in fact part of Some kind of conSpiracy?

Critical thinking requires each of us to as-sess if there are common threads that indicate

a hidden agenda behind this violence. I believe the conspiratorial aspects of this suppression go even deeper. One of the things that GcMAF does is kill a protein made by all cancer cells called nagalase, which is excreted by cancer cells to disarm the human immune system. Nagalase causes immunodeficiency.

It seems that most of the doctors who re-cently died mysterious deaths were connected to treatment practices that employed GcMAF to defeat the effects of nagalase and successfully boost the immune system’s ability to fight certain diseases.

Here is a video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1WZrnCcH24) that suggests that na-galase is intentionally put into vaccines to weaken the immune system. Dr. Bradstreet found that autistic children tended to have a highly elevated level of nagalase in their blood. He claimed to have tested over 400 autistic children for the viral marker nagalase, and found that close to 80% of them had significantly elevated levels. This would make sense as part of a dumbing down and depopulation agenda as described in THRIVE (at 1:33:55). Bradstreet treated 1,100 patients with GcMAF, with an 85% response rate.

As contrary as it is to how they are promoted, vaccines have been proven to be an ideal mode of transmission for covert purposes, including spreading clandestine sterilization and fatal

illness. The World Health Organiza-tion, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control have been caught over 30 times co-vertly attempting to sterilize the birth age girls and wom-en of various populations in Africa, Mexico, South America and the Philippines. Recently in the Mexican town of La Pimienta, 53 children were vaccinated for tuberculosis, rotavirus and hepatitis B—the same strains targeted by U.S. vaccines for children. 75% of the town’s children ended up in the hospital or dead.

There has been virtually no mainstream me-dia coverage of either the success of GcMAF, its suppression or the death of all these practitioners. Why not? In my experience, lack of mainstream media coverage is a common sign of a larger hidden and suppressive agenda.maybe the mainStream media report-erS are Simply unaWare of What’S GoinG on?

I’m sorry to say this is not the case. Erin Elizabeth, the primary health blogger tying these deaths together repeatedly and specifically ap-pealed to Time magazine to interview her and to investigate and cover these stories. Time had been sniffing around for an interview on the holistic doctor deaths. Family members told Erin and she wrote Time saying they were in mourn-ing, but that she could do an interview, as she had been covering the story for months. They received her request, but would not respond to her communications.

In THRIVE, we covered the suppression of treatments and cures developed by Royal Rife, Rene Caisse, Harry Hoxey, and Max Gerson. We unfortunately see the same pattern continuing, not only with these holistic practitioners, but with oth-ers in our Solutions Hub Network who are being harassed, threatened, covertly radiated with ELF waves and who have had attempts on their lives.

Another potentially related horrific event was the “Aquarust” amphetamine poisoning of 29 alternative medicine practitioners at a health con-ference in September near Hamburg, Germany. Fifteen ambulances took the afflicted to nearby hospitals. None died.

I don’t have the definitive proof that all of the doctors who’ve died suspiciously were murdered in an organized plot. But I have no doubts, after decades of research, that there are those who would protect their profits and control “at any cost”. One of my personal goals is to help expose these sociopathic criminals and obsolete their agenda. I hope that this summary will help shine the light on the numerous tragic suppressions of the brilliant innovators trying to bring vibrant health, safe and cheap energy, whole foods and clean water to the world. Part of how we can help them is to take their stories and concerns seriously. What to do?

Spread the word. Education is the foundation of any effective action. Dare to bring up these chal-lenging topics. Be sensitive to timing and setting. Use questions that join participants in a quest for truth rather than trying to force information and perspective on those who are not yet exposed to this sad reality, or who are not ready to consider it.

Use alternative media, but also use any le-verage with more mainstream outlets to get them to at least raise questions about these incidents of suppression and to put an investigative reporter on them.

If you have the resources, donate to help victim’s families and to pay for private investiga-tors to go after the truth. (contact Erin Elizabeth at Health Nut News.)

You can also donate to the Indigenous Health Care Practitioners Organization (IH-CPO), a Native American group that certifies over 200 practitioners under native sovereignty to practice alternatively without limitation by the FDA and AMA.the truth Will have itS day, and health Will have itS Way.

You’ve de-cided to go fresh and lo-cal with

your diet, but don’t know where to start. Here is an idea for you! Join your local chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF). With 2000 members and 45 chapters in California, this nutrition education and activist group will guide you along as you start down the real food path.

Each local WAPF chapter is led by a volun-teer, whose role is to introduce the community to local farms, farmers’ markets, and nearby purveyors of unprocessed, natural foods with no additives or chemical preservatives. The chapter leaders often organize meetings or potlucks to bring people together to meet new people. They often offer workshops or lectures which are a great opportunity to learn about whole food nutrition and discover new recipes, even meet local farmers.

Doug Miller-Fleig is the chapter leader for San Francisco. He says a thriving online commu-nity (Yahoo Group WAPF-SF) is a great resource for San Franciscan’s interested in holistic health and wellness. He is a body work specialist and Qi Gong teacher and holds occasional educa-tional events. The nearby Marin chapter holds monthly events providing opportunities to meet

farmers, ranchers and artisan food produc-ers. Clarissa Clark is the volunteer leader of the San Jose/South Bay chapter and her chapter is also active online (Yahoo Group WAPF South Bay) and holds occasional cooking activities and

farm picnics. The Weston A. Price Foundation was found-

ed by Sally Fallon Morell, a California mom in 1999. Today, its members circle the globe, and are very infl uential in bringing traditional whole foods back into vogue. Organic fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meats, wild caught fi sh, free range chickens are gaining in popularity, as more people are connecting with their local farmers, ranchers and fi sherman. The Foundation membership includes a subscription to a quarterly journal, Wise Traditions for Food, Farming and the Healing Arts. The journal is rich with vital science, nutrition and holistic health wisdom.

The International Wise Traditions Confer-ence draws 1500 attendees from around the world each year. Always held the second weekend in November, in 2018 Wise Traditions conference and its natural health exhibits will come back to the West Coast.

One way I like to share these therapeutic essential oils is by giving a ‘Raindrop Technique’ session using a sequence of nine highly immune-enhancing essential oils. They are dropped like rain onto the spinal meridians and the bottom of the feet. Light massage follows, ending with a warm towel applied over the spine to help the oils penetrate. The healing components of these essential oils are directly absorbed into the skin, nerves, connective tissue and blood stream bringing about balance, harmony and

They are a form of plant medicine using the aromatic compounds ex-tracted from plants. The Ancient Egyptians used oils for treating diseases, skin and hair care, even embalming. They also used them in religious ritu-als and ceremonies such as cleansing bad thoughts from the mind—today this is would be called releas-ing emotional trauma.

When we breathe an essential oil fragrance, it stimulates nerves in the nose, which send impulses to the limbic system which then sends positive therapeutic memory-emotion responses to the aroma into rest of the brain and nervous system.

Essential oils have long been ap-preciated for their uplifting, calming ‘effects on emotional wellness. As well as used for anxiety, depression, fatigue, stress, and pain relief. Ad-ditionally, by applying them topically to targeted areas of the body, their therapeutic constituents reestablish balance. Many recipients report feel-ing the soothing of muscle tension or experience the cleansing effect of the oils as they stimulate toxin elimination from the body.

The first three steps of the twelve step program for recovery from addiction have to do with asking

for help, knowing that we are powerless without help from a higher power, and trusting that this higher power can restore our lives greater than we could even imagine. I have seen these twelve steps work miracles in the lives of many people.

What about people who are not struggling with addiction? I feel the twelve steps, especially

Recently, we met with a family group of

with very strong opposing views. The family was split in two by these views and were in a lot of pain. There appeared to be no easy solution and there was a possibility of multiple estrangements.

and leading groups, this was honestly the most complex and painful family situation we had ever encountered. I hardly ever feel nervous about a situation in our work, but I began to feel not only nervous, but also a bit fearful.

Then I realized I needed to turn the situation over completely to God, asking that this great power could come through Barry and me in ways that I could not even imagine. And that is what happened! Once I really surrendered to my need for help in working with this broken family, the nervousness and fear left me. I did not really have a plan other than to trust in the Higher Power of Love. Though the time with them was very chal-lenging, the end result was greater than I could have ever imagined. This family has a long road to go in healing, but if they can continue to ask for help from a higher power, they will be even stronger than before.

Asking for help from our higher power is extremely powerful in our lives. Most people wait until there is an extremely challenging situation.

character, George, is desperate and wants to take his life. While sitting in a bar he prays, “God, I am not a praying man but, if you can hear me, I need help.” Then help comes in the form of a strange angel named Clarence.

What if we began asking for help with smaller things in our life, to build up a momentum of faith that we can be helped in all ways when we ask? Most people feel that it is best to not bother ask-ing for help for smaller things as it is a waste of

of Love in such a limited way, that there is just so much energy and so we better wait until it is life and death before asking for help. But the truth is that the energy available to us is unlimited. We are loved so much that help is available always. I am not talking about asking for a brand new shiny car or to win the lottery. I am talking about real life issues however small you think they are.

I had an experience recently with what could be considered a very small need for help. We

were at the breakfast line at the retreat center we use in Hawaii to lead our week long

retreat, a woman volunteer asked us to give a talk to the community about relation-ships. At first we thought none of the volunteers would come, but she assured us she would get other volunteers to come. We agreed and set up a time and space for one of

the evenings. We then got involved with leading our retreat and forgot about naming the talk. The morning of the talk came and suddenly we real-ized we had not given the talk a name to place on the daily activities board. While in line at the dining area, Barry suggested that we call it an “Aloha

with something else.

someone will come and tell us exactly what to name the talk.” Barry looked doubtful but re-sponded, “Well I doubt that someone is going to come walking up and tell us, but if they do, we will go with their suggestion. We have to have something up on the bulletin board within a few minutes.” We agreed and continued in the line. I closed my eyes for a moment and asked for help. Within one minute of my asking for help, the original woman volunteer that had invited us came around the corner carrying some hot water. She stopped when she saw us and said, “We are all so excited about the talk tonight. What are you going to name it?” Barry suggested the “Aloha Talk.” She grimaced and said, “Nobody would come

with the hot water. We stood a moment in awe at the divine answer to my small request for help.

Help does not always come immediately, like with the name of our talk, George Bailey getting a visit from his angel Clarence, or when we worked with that troubled family. But help will come at the perfect time and it can go beyond your imagina-tion. The important thing is to start asking for help and knowing that our Creator wants to help us as we live our lives upon this earth.

monkey mind CAn Be A Good thinGby Christopher Love

Are you enjoying the water falling from the sky? It has been so long since we had a

“normal” Winter of precipita-tion. I could not begin this article without making this acknowl-edgement and formally pausing to give thanks for the rain.

I have spent years of my life meditating with various teachers, visiting temples, ashrams and monasteries. Throughout this experience, no matter the tradition, the monkey seems to get a bad wrap. If a person is acting like a child, unfocused and easily distracted I have heard comments like, “He’s suffering from monkey mind.” Similarly, when someone is being erratic, playful or mischievous someone may say, “Stop acting like a monkey or I see your up to some mon-key business.” What do you think when you hear these words, “Monkey around?”

Whatever you think about the monkey does not really affect the monkey. Monkeys care nothing for what we think about them, they are content being themselves. However, we are now in the Year of the Monkey according to Chinese Astrology. And if our entire year is to emanate the energy of monkey, I, for one, am interested in what that may be. How ‘bout you?

One characteristic of monkey that we may all agree on is curiosity. Perhaps there is a reason for this. You may be intuiting monkey or perhaps you read a Curious George book when you were growing up. The original Curious George books were written by Margret and Hans Ray, with the first making it’s debut in 1941. That’s 75 years of equating curiosity with the monkey! Curiosity and playfulness often go hand in hand, two things George knows well.

However, Chinese astrology tells us that curiosity and unabashed creativity are two of monkey’s most powerful traits. Coupled with monkeys strong mind (sense of self) and advanced intelligence, monkey is equipped to handle many of life’s challenges without worry. For monkey, difficulties are opportunities to em-ploy creative thinking until a solution is found. Monkey views that which is deemed impossible

One of the most common issues in my private practice is dealing with the many faces of fear, be it anxiety, panic at-

tacks or phobias. Given how stressful life is in our times, this comes as no great surprise. In addition, many of us juggle professional and personal lives, and wear so many different hats we could open a store! Panic with Purpose

Just as everything else in the complex body-mind system, fear happens for a reason. The point of fright is to act as an internal alarm, and to protect and warn us of danger. Whether this occurs while getting out of harm’s way, or when

carefully venturing into the unknown, being afraid can keep you safe. Plus, the so-called “flight or fight “response allows you to ramp up from resting to racing in a matter of moments, making it possible to run for your life, or to resist your opponent.

However, with today’s fast paced lifestyle, and the overload of informa-tion in the everyday, this protective mechanism can morph into a false

alarm, keeping you on alert even when it’s time to unwind. If your stress meter is already in the red, it doesn’t take much for distress signals to trigger a panic attack. The body is geared for survival, and too much input translates into pos-sible danger. Before you know it, all systems go on alert, shooting adrenalin and preparing you to pull the escape hatch. Only there is nowhere

to run to, when you’re in the middle of business meetings, or stuck in traffic!Alleviate Anxiety Attacks

My client Tom, a professional salesman and father of two, was driving over highway 17 when it happened: tingling in his hands, his heart pounding like mad and his chest feeling so tight, he was gasping for air. Panic stricken, he pulled over, and dialed 911. Surely he was about to have a heart attack!

However, after a thorough medical check-up, no physical problems were revealed. His doctor said, it was probably “just stress” and that Tom needed to “relax.” Easier said than done... By the time panic attacks happen, the nervous system has become overloaded. What is normally a response to get out of hazard’s way becomes a self-reinforcing loop of anxiety. Then, just about any physical symptom can trigger a seemingly life-threatening attack. Even the fear of having another assault of terror can trigger panic. Afraid of fear, anxiety disorder can be a debilitating condition, severely limiting lifestyle and career.

How do you get out of this vicious cycle? Even though panic attacks are a physical response with real symptoms, the mind is your greatest asset in leading the cure. Effectively thoughts guide the body, even if you hardly notice them. The psyche initiates this powerful reaction, and can therefore be focused on changing it.

Among the many tools available to over-come this debilitating disorder, these are key:

1. Short-circuiting the panic reaction, and being able to fire a new response in the moment.

2. Identifying the causes and reducing stress.

to attain as something that will just take a little more time and effort.

Monkey is full of energy to the point of hyperactive. Balancing this is an uncluttered mind that is present to the moment. Monkey is free of the past, guilt and shame and is ready to act at a moments notice. This state of being is sought after by spiritual seekers the world over.

How can you utilize monkey’s creative energy in your life? Are you ready to be unstop-pable, both in practical and creative endeavors? What if your mind were clear and free of the past, ready to respond to each new moment with fresh vitality? Are you willing to be more curious and play more in your life?

In this view, looking at this monkey year, we should rejoice and celebrate the monkey. This promises to be a powerful year with an abundance of creativity and solutions to present day prob-lems. Remember, a monkey has all the pa-t ience in the w o r l d to test

his theories and inven-tions. This may be the year we turn things around on many levels, with a little help from our monkey friend.

So why the bad rap? Along with all the posi-tive attributes monkey finds himself with he also has an adolescent disposi-tion. Without discipline or a developed sense of compassion monkey is merely interested in using his powers to help himself. Without wisdom a monkey may be unfaithful, untrust-worthy and worse yet, willing to use his abilities to take advantage of those around him. Monkey is primarily focused on him-self and his own happiness and preservation. He is op-portunistic by nature and

therefore if he is without a sense of belonging he will use every opportunity to one up himself over anyone he can.

Are you beginning to get a picture about the year, as painted by this ancient Chinese sys-tem? We have the power, presence and strategy of monkey to move powerfully and positively forward, find solutions to many of today’s prob-lems, let go of the past and create new things that will make our lives better. Sound good? Are you committed to this in your own life?

Simultaneously, we may have an undercur-rent of fear and trepidation as the shadow side of monkey is about individual success and not necessarily the success of the whole. We may make many new accomplishments in this new year, however, with monkey we must be diligent not to make strides at the expense of others. If bottom line business is good, monkey is more than satisfied, even if many others suffer just out of earshot of his happy abode.

Monkey presents an opportunity for us to cultivate the qualities of perseverance, limitless creativity, barrier freethinking, present moment living and more. Being in the present moment

monkey does not take things too seriously and is therefore lighthearted. This coupled with his intellect creates a witty charm that brings a wel-come sense of levity into challenging situations. What are you doing to grow these qualities within yourself? Being in alignment with monkey this year may lead to a powerful and exciting year. Are you ready?

We know that adolescence is mostly free of wisdom. Compassion is a wisdom, so is pa-tience, acceptance and the ability to transform (yourself and situations). These wisdoms do not come easy to monkey. This year we have an opportunity to ride on all the powers that are a breeze for monkey and use this forward motion to gain a strong foundation in the above mentioned wisdoms. Herein lies the balance.

Again, as always, what we make of our year and our lives is up to ourselves. We can make it lovely and amazing with a little help from our friends and the positive qualities of monkey. So perhaps this is the year to cultivate a monkey mind and spend some time messin’ around.

When Canadian schools started installing Wi-Fi in 2009, children began having alarming cardiac problems and other health is-sues.1 David Morrison’s daughter

started experiencing severe heart problems in Portland, Oregon, so her cardiologist put her on a heart monitor. It showed that her heart was fine except when she entered her Wi-Fi’d school. 2

Teacher Anura Lawson began experiencing cardiac problems in 2014 after Los Angeles Uni-fied School District installed Industrial-strength Wi-Fi. Students were also having problems. “The students are having nosebleeds and the main offices are refusing to do incident reports. I have had two seventh grade students bleeding out of their ears.” She received accommodation under Americans with Disability Act—a non-wireless classroom.

In 2008, France removed Wi-Fi from the French National Library and other federal librar-ies, because librarians were getting sick3. In 2013, a committee of the Council of Europe proposed banning wireless technology from schools In Europe. In 2015, France banned Wi-Fi in nursery schools and day-care centers and restricted it in primary schools, and Taiwan banned electronics for children under 245.

Lloyd’s of London excludes EMF-related damage. School insurance policies may not protect officials from liability lawsuits. In Massa-chusetts, prestigious Fay School is being sued for ignoring a student’s health problems and refusing to provide a wi-fi free environment6. In England, a girl hanged herself because of the health prob-lems she suffered around wireless devices and Wi-Fi. Her school refused to accommodate her, and penalized her instead. In November, she took her life7.

In a 1998 California Department of Health Services survey, 3.2% of Californians surveyed reported hypersensitivity to electromagnetic fields, and .5% reported this caused them to change jobs or remain unemployed. Since then, our EMF exposure has vastly increased8. Two researchers say that by 2017, 50% of the population will be electrosensitive based on current trends9. Network World wrote recently “Is Wi-Fi killing us slowly?”10 Santa Clara County Medical Association Bulletin articles repeatedly warn of wireless health im-pacts, but who’s listening?11

What’s behind the push for wireless tech in schools? In 2002, Silicon Valley execs initiated the p21 campaign to create a new market for their products. They called it 21st Century learn-ing and went after our children. Those pushers include Apple, Dell, Google, Cisco, and even the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The pushers re-badge standard learning tools as if they had invented them (eg. Project-Based Learning) and “glue” them to wireless technology as if they were in-separable. School officials, including the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, proclaim this as revolutionary and radical retooling, but why do tech executives send their children to low tech schools such as Waldorf?12 Why did Steve Jobs limit his children’s tech use if it’s so wonderful? New Tech immerses children13.

These are harmful products. Google’s Expedition Pioneer program puts cell phones next to children’s eyes and brain. Children report headaches and dizziness, which Google ignores14.

Thousands of studies detail the damage from wireless radiation—DNA damage, changes to the blood, breaks in the blood-brain barrier, oxidative stress, deformed or dead sperm, deformed and/or clumping red blood cells, hormone changes, can-cers and tumors, disrupted cognition—memory, concentration, mood disorders, and addiction.

Damon Knight’s 1950 sci-fi tale “To Serve Man” could be written about the powerful telecom and wireless industry which sees our children as targets for consumption.

“We are getting reports of headaches and cardiac issues from across the country. The time to act is now,” says a spokesperson for the National Association for Children and Safe Tech-nology (NACST).

When school and agency officials say there’s no harm, or effects are unknown, they are either misinformed or lying, as is the case of MPUSD and Pacific Grove Unified School District officials.

For several years, they have received documen-tation on the extensive harm, but they have not paused wireless deployment. MPUSD refused to send staff to the Santa Clara County symposium last year on wireless health dangers, but spends thousands on wireless promotion events.

And on February 29, the MPUSD school board approved a plan for at-school and at-home wireless technology for Seaside High School and Seaside Middle School students and becoming part of the Napa-based New Tech franchise.Mark Gibbs in Network World asks:

Will we look back (sadly) in fifty or a hundred years and marvel at how Wi-Fi and cellphones were responsible for the biggest health crisis in human history?15

He echoes the warning of international scientists.

Schools are promoting a substance already classified as a possible carcinogen. There is no informed consent by parents or children. Children are at risk for developing neurological diseases, cancer, tumors, and infertility as a result of school district policies. Despite the evidence from thou-sands of studies, we are following the same path as with smoking and asbestos: waiting, while children become ill or die.

Stop pushing hazardous wireless technology on children. Remove it from our schools. Wireless technology is not a moral imperative. Health is.

Allen Morgan, founder of Santa Cruz Heirloom Seed and distributor for Seed Saver Exchange, will be of-

fering workshops at Native Revival Nursery in March, April, May and August for a small fee of $15 each. These workshops will enrich your understanding of how to prepare, keep and maintain a garden all year round through succession gardening. Native Revival Nursery is located 2600 Mar Vista Drive in Aptos. The first work-shop will be on March 19th from 12 – 2 PM. You will also learn about small space gardening including planting and growing in containers, raised planting beds and small yard spaces.

If you would like to buy Seed Saver Exchange seeds from distributor Al-len Morgan, or if you have a question for him, he can be reached by phone at (831) 325-8115; by e-mail at [email protected]; and you can view his activities on his Facebook/santa cruz heir-loom seed. Before the Seed – Workshop One

The March workshop, “Before the Seed” will discuss a garden plan and will help you develop a strategy and blueprint for three seasons of Amish succession gardening. There is no reason not to celebrate at least three crops a year of a given plant type, espe-cially considering that the majority of California has good growing weather. Raising herbs and vegetables effec-tively in regard to location, planting early starts and growing what you eat, will be the topic of this presentation.

LocationWhat can your garden condi-

tions support? How is it effected by sunshine? Soil moisture is very im-portant; do you know what your plants

will need? What about wind and frost exposure; how can they impact your crop? And then there are pests that challenge us each year in some way, as well as disease like blight.

Early StartsEncourage early

starts using mini green-houses. These can be eas-ily made utilizing milk cartons cut in half. Hoop covers can be used, too. And a sunny room can offer an ideal environment for germinating starts. Grow lights will encour-age plant growth and get things rolling inside while there is still the fear of

frost outside. Use what you have avail-able and see what works for what you are growing.

Grow What You Eat! Do you really like spinach?

Well, if you don’t, don’t grow it and grow what you like instead. Select old favorites you know and love and add new temptations that you would like to try. Step out of your comfort zone and extend your list to encompass old friends and new opportunities.

The following is a list of rec-ommended reading that will coincide nicely with Allen’s Four Part Series. We use them often and refer to them each growing season.

Rodale’s Vegetable Garden Problem Solver by Fern Marshal Bradley offers safe and all-organic methods for dealing with pests and disease and how to stay ahead of troubles in the garden. This books re-views how to keep your crops healthy and pest free by using natural control methods.

The Bountiful Container by Rose Marie Nichols McGee & Maggie Stuckey teach that everything edible

that is grown in a traditional garden, with the exception of corn and pump-kins, can be raised in a container. The book steps you through soil prepara-tion, sun exposure, how much to water and what to fertilize with.

Hartmann & Kester’s Plant Propagation: Principles and Prac-tices is a university text that offers up-to-date information about plant propagation. It is a useful reference promoting learning through the latest commercial techniques while provid-ing color figures supporting the under-standing of propagation biology.

The Complete Illustrated HERBAL by David Hoffman is a user-friendly book that is a practical guide to making and using herbal remedies. This book has been added to the list of resources because we feel it offers many ideas for the first time or seasoned gardener. Herbs are typically easy to grow in a garden container or small space. Pick what you want to grow based on the remedy that you need.

Seed Saver Exchange, http://www.seedsavers.org/, not only offers exceptional information on its web site, but has an exceptional annual catalog that is packed with helpful in-formation. When you become a mem-ber of Seed Saver Exchange, you will receive even more supportive data.

As stated in the opening para-graph, Workshop One, Before the

Seed, will take place on Saturday, March 19th at Native Revival Nurs-ery from 12 – 2 PM.

The date and time of Amish Succession Gardening Workshops Two, Three and Four are yet to be determined. The information will be published in the upcom-ing publications of the Connection Magazine in this column. You may also call Allen, access

his Facebook page or e-mail him to find out.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon and we are excited about what you will learn so you can celebrate a successful and bountiful vegetable and herb garden using small spaces while producing multiple crops throughout the year.

“Prop 37 – Right to Know; Label GMO Campaign” Did It Win or Did It Lose?

Editor’s NOTE: THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE VALIANT VOLUN-

TEERS THAT EDUCATED PEO-PLE ABOUT GMOs and OUR RIGHT TO HAVE OUR FOOD LABELED SO WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES! THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!!

Did Prop 37 fail or win? Though support at the ballot

box was 43% pro PROP 37 and 57% against Prop 37, that ‘other side of crooks, lying liars and 1%’ did not really win. WHY? Because even if their products are not clearly labeled as to having GMOs, we now know WHO they are!.

We hope you have saved our Connection Magazine from last month’s October 2012 Issue as the Cover has a chart from the Cornu-copia Institute on it to spell out who is who (that is also online on our website). And, with all of the Articles that people have read in various magazines/newspapers, and all of the educating the marvelous Volunteers have done to inform us, etc.—let us know who the greedy corporations are (and with ulterior motives—we are ‘in the KNOW’ ??!!. Below, you’ll see a number of the greedy corporations. NOW, people know!! Read on and you’ll nd out about the lies. We encourage one and all

to BOYCOTT the corporations and their GMO-poi-soned products.

P.S. If any-one says there is not enough sci-ence out there to show us the ramifications of GMOs, read the center feature of the THEME in our October Is-sue. It states the science. Check it out. NOW, this is a national/in-ternational issue. Now, onward!

Thank you b e l o v e d Vo l -unteers for the ‘right to know’ everywhere and to other states and countr ies who have sent in their support in various ways.

With heart-felt appreciation for the Coura-geous and Truth-ful Ones,

Pattie, Thom & Staff

Proposition 37 appears t o h a v e

failed at the ballot box in California,

according to the California Secretary of State ballot measures results. The GMO labeling ballot measure, which would have required food companies to label the GM content of foods, was defeated with the use of over $45 mil-lion in fraudulent advertising and dirty tricks funded by

• Monsanto, • PepsiCo, • Coca-Cola, • Kellogg, • General Mills, • DuPont, • Bayer and • other food and • pesticide companies.

Over the last month, this cabal of deceptive companies has funneled money into a campaign of criminal fraud which, among other crimes, fabricated a fake FDA quote and sent out mailers that fraudulently used the FDA seal. A criminal complaint has already been led with the FBI.

The “No on 37” campaign also used fabricated front groups and impersonated a police organization (among others) to send out yet more fake mailers to voters, claiming that the police oppose GMO labeling. That fraudulent claim, of course, is entirely false.Huge victory in terms of GMO awareness and grass roots support

The grassroots effort to pass Proposition 37 was supported by the efforts of millions of activists, plus financial donations from Mercola, Nature’s Path, Amy’s, Dr. Bronner and other companies. Natural News donated $10,000 to the effort and pro-vided comprehensive editorial cover-age of the grassroots effort. Click here to see a chart of who gave money to the effort (http://www.cornucopia.org/wp-content/themes/Cornuco-pia/downloads/prop37-poster.pdf).

And click here to see some of the “natural” brands that betrayed con-sumers (http://www.naturalnews.com/Infographic-Natural-Brands-Betray-Consumers.html) with the “No on 37” deception.

Those brands include: • Kashi, • Silk, • Cascadian Farm,

• Larabar and more.In many ways, the “YES on 37

Campaign” was a huge victory for awareness. The campaign organized over 10,000 volunteers in California alone and succeeded in achieving a massive social media presence.

The “YES on 37 Campaign” also forced Monsanto and the bio-tech giants to spend $45 million to defeat the measure. That’s a record expenditure by the world’s largest toxic pesticide companies to try to prevent consumers from knowing what they’re buying. Remember: GMOs are the only products that consumers accidentally purchase without knowing what they’re buying.

What’s clear from all this is that GMO labeling has a foothold in the minds of American consumers, and this effort to label GMOs is going to be repeated state after state, year after year, until victory is achieved.

The biotech industry can no longer keep its dirty little secret: There’s poison in your food, folks, and the big food producers abso-lutely do not want you to know that you’re eating it.The GMO labeling battle has only just begun

Monsanto and other companies appear to have won this showdown in California, but they are going to lose the war of deception against consum-ers. As awareness of GMOs continues to spread, people will demand honest labeling in increasing numbers.

The huge burst of awareness on Prop 37 has a lot of people asking the questions: Hey, what are GMOs? And, why aren’t they labeled on foods?

That question will ultimately spell defeat for Monsanto, Kellogg, General Mills, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and all the other evil, deceptive cor-porations who bankrolled the “No in 37” criminal fraud that deceived a majority of California voters.

Under the Dome

by Aaron Carvajal

As we prepare to build our first proof of con-cept dome homes, the differences of a square and round building

become very significant. Nearly every part of the box structure is attached to entrenched interests, regulations, monthly bills, and draining maintenance and repair schedules. The characteristics of the square design mirror the mechanism of the grid which they are part. The dome home is specifically designed to be liberating at every step - from building and maintenance to daily freedom to live. The significance of building a round dome structure goes much deeper than superiority of strength, utility, and sustainability. A dome design contrasts sharply with the underpinnings of control that are cemented within the very foundations of the grid box structures we currently contain ourselves within.

The open source geodesic dome home is designed to overcome the hooks and anchors inherent in a the grid system. You have the typical 30 year enslavement to the lending banks and insurance companies of every sort, utility bills and then many more bills. Your childhood centers on education so you believe, then education loans so you have to believe. Look forward to rising healthcare costs that will profitably pretend to fix you once the cycle of fear, anxiety, and poisoned food leave you a shell of a human.

To Build A Square or Round Home?

Also, this box home is forever in need of maintenance for it’s outdated power, plumbing, drainage, electri-

cal and temperature control systems. Beware of this stilted structure prone to collapse in times of earthquake or severe weather. Dealing with all this will make you feel like you are trapped in a box.

Based on nature’s structural engineering, a dome’s members all support each other, and thus architects confirm it is the strongest structure known to man. The dome home can be portable or permanent and easily built by anyone from materials found everywhere. By design, repair is easy and replacement parts readily available and inexpensive. The triangle panels are magnetic and easily rearranged, removable and replaceable. The same is true of the portable solar system, plumbing system, and the closed loop water capture and compost systems. No heavy equipment or tools are needed to repair or maintain the dome. Add food production with gardens and aquaponic bio domes for complete

health and freedom. By looking beyond the grid,

seemingly insurmountable obstacles can easily be overcome with just a bit of effort focused on our families and future. The biggest obstacle is our pre programmed perspective that has us

continuously distracted and tangled in tradition, red tape and regula-tion. Square structures have not caught up to the newest technol-

ogy and sensible methods of using energy, water and food - without

creating waste. Geodesic domes are far superior in strength, sensibility, and sustainability. The circular envi-ronment is conducive to free air and energy flow.

We believe a new type of free-dom is emerging that is based on self dependence and the ability to truly control our destiny. It really is not complicated or time consuming to build a beautiful home and provide food and security for one’s family. A free society inside a box system is a fantasy. The state of the world’s affairs and the health of earth’s real systems shows how well this square civiliza-tion has worked out. A new type of progress is at hand - one that centers on the daily growth of our connection and commitment to a strong round community where all members sup-port each other.See how we are taking action today by visiting future at FutureOfTheFree.com and e-mail us at [email protected].

Mystical Lore and Magical Power of Fire”, its 2nd annual forum of workshops and immersion experiences in the many modes of magic to take place at Serpent’s Kiss Metaphysical Shop in Downtown Santa Cruz. Our special guest this year is Tommie Starchild, respected Witchcraft Elder and Conjure Worker.

This year, the event is focused on the enduring lure and potency of fire as a transmitter of spiritual truth, mystical rev-elation and magical power. This sacred force has lit the hallowed halls of ancient temples, called tribes to sacred story telling, and conjured magic to the witch’s candle.

Conjure Craft will honor the power of fire with sacred song, em-powering ritual, enlightening informa-tion and experiential practice in the areas of shamanism, spiritual healing, seership, root-work and witchery. This unique and not-to-be-missed event will be held at Serpent’s Kiss,

a magical destination for folks from miles around, known for its unique and handcrafted wares, as well as a community gathering space for magical workers and cultural creatives. Serpent’s Kiss is located at 2015 North Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz, CA, just

training in creating, working and reading the magical candle, the lore and legacy of the magi-cal flame, the fire in the witch-blood, tapping the wild force in nature (the fire of life), arousing the inner fire of passion and spirit, and much more. On Monday, we will host a

special whale-watching experience and will be taking our Conjuring Crew out to the waters to experience the fire of water that sparks in the life force throughout the holism of the ocean.

LAILI RESTAURANT in Downtown Santa Cruz

What a truly outstanding restaurant in every way: aesthetics, delicious food, friendly and very caring Staff—everything is top notch! And, not only is the food delicious, it is artfully presented AND it is healthy!! They have organic options, consciously raised animals for meats, lots of veggie options, too. I am vegetarian, my two teenagers are vegans, my husband is a carnivore, however, only healthful meats (as Laili so consciously offers! Thank you, Laili!).

We first discovered Laili through the Connection Magazine. We thank this magazine and so appreciate it; it is one-of-a-kind because it tells us positive, healthy things to know for our lives and ways to live. AND, it is the only one to tell the truth about what is going on in our country and the world. Thanks Connection!! We came over to Santa Cruz to stay for a quick holiday. Connection Magazines were in the lobby of the hotel in SC where we stayed. We picked it up, and now, of course, the rest is history. We live over the hill in San Mateo and we now see that this excellent magazine is over on this side of the hill; we read it and go to everything in it, including coming over to eat at LAILI

and do lots of cool things in SC County. Thanks Connection Magazine and thanks, Laili Restaurant for being 2 very important parts of our lives now!

ELLA’S at THE AIRPORT (and, Café Ella)

You did i t again, Connect ion Magazine! Thank you for telling us about ELLA’S Restaurants. We had never heard of them before, until we saw the Ad in Connection. Thank you Ella’s for offering a Free Organic Coffee or Tea just from mentioning the Ad. How cool is that!? We didn’t even have to bring in a coupon, just mention/tell them that you saw their Ad in Connection Magazine offering these drinks. AND, is their food and menu the coolest!? They have delicious and healthy food with lots of Organic options as well as consciously raised beef and chicken. Well, my entire family loves ELLA’S at The AIRPORT and we frequent it at least 2 or 3 times a month, even more. Check it out. Thanks ELLA’s!

Connection Magazine’s THEMES

Through the years, we have learned that Connection Magazine features a Center THEME in the middle of the magazine. We thank you for that as each Theme is very pertinent! Excellent info! We learned so much from this last Theme regarding Organic Coffee & Tea. What an education. And, everything is

well-researched with the sources always cited. Thank you so much for the years of excellent information. You have educated us all about GMOs (for at least 20 years now!! Thanks!), chemtrails (also 20+ years before the public had a clue and, yet, you folks gave us the details and now, here we are with chemtrailed skies galore!). You have told us about Organics, Pesticides, Glyphosate, Brown Apple Moth,

Gut Health/Probiotics, FLUORIDE (thank you for truly helping to stop this insanely poisonous rat poison in our water system in the City of Santa Cruz!!! and,

Watsonville, too!), healthful benefits of Cannabis, etc., etc. There are so many more things that you have truly educated us all about—you are good people; so brave, too!

Thank you for your 23 years of service for us all in the 5 counties in which you distribute and on the web, too. And, here’s to another 23+ years!A Household of your Readers: Janny,

NORTH COAST COFFEE ROASTING CO.

Thanks for telling us about this Coffee Company and the info in your Theme in the magazine last issue. I learned so much and had no idea about the benefits of Coffee. It is all Organic and Fair Trade, too! I think they have about 30 different coffees that they offer. I now only shop for these coffees at the stores. Thanks!

Each month, we select our favo r i te o r otherwise im-portant films

to be featured on this page. We rate them, subjectively, on a scale from 1 (worthless) to 5 (awesome) in terms of their entertainment and message. We leave the plot details and story-telling to the filmmakers and instead attempt to characterize, highlight strengths, and hint at purpose. Reach us at [email protected]. Enjoy!haiL Ceasar! With George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin, Tilda SwintonEntertainment: 3 Message: 3.5

While disjointed and uneven, this comedy drama set in the 1950s, written and directed by the four-time Oscar-winning Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?), also has uproarious moments, old Hollywood nostalgia and double entendres on politics and religion, with unconventional humor throughout, just not enough of it. Far more drama than comedy, the mélange of enjoyable performances center on a day-in-the-life of studio “fixer,” played brilliantly by Josh Brolin. A densely populated star-studded cast includes a wondrous and goofy George Clooney, and a charming Channing Tatum dance tribute to Gene Kelly, but favorites such as Scarlett Johansson only got to shine for brief moments, albeit glorious ones. There’s a lot to take in, and since the many sub-plots are hard to track, it may be best to surrender logic (you can make sense of it later), and simply let this moment-to-moment spoof wash over you. It’s really a love letter to early Hollywood movie-era glam (1 hr 45 min).the Big shortWith Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Gosling Entertainment: 4 Message: 4

Want to learn more about the housing and stock market crash of 2008, while being wildly entertained? Here is your opportunity. This intel-ligent comedy is based on Michael Lewis’ best-seller The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine. Great acting throughout, Steve Carell as Mark Baum, a short tempered money manager with moral backbone, and Christian Bale, playing Michael Burry, a brilliant albeit eccentric hedge fund manager. Both provide stellar performances, leading to Golden Globe nominations. Watching this genius creation more than once may be a good idea. There is so much information, and while there are plenty creative teaching demos and hilarious celebrity cameo illustrations, the complexity is mind boggling (2 hrs 10 min).sPotLightWith Mark Ruf-f a l o , Rache l McAdams, Mi-chael Keaton, Live Schreibner, John SlatteryEntertainment: 4 Mes-sage: 4

Amazingly well-told story of investigative journal ism in its finest hour, exposing count-less abuses by t he Ca tho l i c Church back in the 1970s on-

ward. This is the true story of how a special investigative team at the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within

the local Catho-lic Archdiocese. Spotlight grace-fully handles the lurid details of this story while resist-ing the tempta-tion to lionize its heroes, resulting in a drama that honors the story, the victims and the people who made

it known. Received the Best Picture and Best Screenplay Oscars for 2015 (2 hrs 9 min).star wars: the forCe awakensWith Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega Entertainment: 4 Message: 3.5

Couldn’t imag-ine a better continu-ation of the Star Wars Saga! Two sequels and three prequels later, this well-crafted installment by J. J. Abrams picks up the main threads of the original 1977 George Lucas creation. After 38 years, seeing Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and the rest of the gang again, along with various droids and dark characters, feels almost like “family reunion” (de-pending on how many wookiees are in your tribe). In addition, the new crew brings great acting chops and fresh energy to the mix. While special effects are stellar, heart, vision and meaning bring dimensionality to this film, reviving the franchise and providing excitement. As in previous episodes, we could do without all the shooting, but hey, it is Star WARS. If you are a fan, you will likely love this epic creation, soon to be legendary movie history (2 hrs 16 min).whiskey tango foxtrotWith Tina Fey, Margot Rob-bie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Billy Bob ThorntonEntertainment: 3 Message: 3.5

Based on real l i fe journalist Kim Barker, this dramedy is an adaptation of Barker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, a disjointed, be-

hind-the-scenes look at reporting in conflict zones. It plays as a mélange of dark humor interspersed with mes-sages reminding us of the absurdity of war—a tough sell, but this farce does manage to deliver some good laughs, mainly owing to the talented Tina Fey. Her character starts out as a rookie field reporter in 2003. How absurd that she would even sign up, given her lack of experience, so of course she struggles to fit in, to survive, to do her job (gain influence to get stories) and find her journalistic groove. The humor is juxtaposed a tribal culture that is so far removed from western ways, but it is the short attention span of the American people that may have inspired the title (military-speak for WTF), which doesn’t quite add up either (1 hr 51 min).ZootoPiaVoices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason

Bateman, Idris Elba, Tommy Chong, J.K. SimmonsEntertainment: 4 Message: 4

This Disney ani-mated “blockbuster” is the first in a series of releases in 2016 that promises to deliver all kinds of kid fun with adult overtones. Visually stunning and imagina-tive, brilliantly funny, there are important messages here about tolerance and diversity, friendship and team-

work, following your dreams and sticking to your principles, all laid on thick, but with a certain heavy-handed charm. Disney is not known for subtlety. Anthropomorphic animals help break down human barriers and teach us to be better human beings (1 hr 48 min).

REBIRTH!

4-6-16 5-4-16

by Candace Stuart-Findlay

Spring is evident around us! In our annual cycle of Life, this is the moment when we feel the energy of rebirth. Do you feel it…so full of

promise and new beginnings? What if we collectively focused

upon the expansion of Joy/Love? What consciousness shifts/rebirth would we initiate, both internally and externally?

Here’s a nifty analogy to bet-ter explain the importance of our individual ownership of all that we experience. Imagine that you are one of those old-time movie theatre projec-tors with the big movie reels cycling in and out. Your heart chakra transmits the brightly beaming light onto the movie screen. (Think quantum fi eld.)

Instead of the top reel feeding down to the bottom reel, the bottom reel (Belly Brain/Sacral Chakra) is feeding the top reel with the fl avor and emphasis of your movie/life experi-ences to the top reel (Brain Antenna).

It is the Belly Brain that controls

birth, shall we change out our fear/anger “movie reels” and load into our projector-selves the Joy/Love reels? In addition to being my closest friend for the past 12 years, Paul brought many blessings to a vari-

ety of communities during his 68 years of life. He was currently a brother, uncle and cousin to family members. He was a retired music educator in the Santa Clara County public school system. He had a career in the State Parks System, was part of the Mount St. Helens rescue effort and active in fi ghting wildfi res. Paul was part of the Native American occupation of

Alcatraz in 1969, drawing attention to the injustices ex-perienced by this marginalized group of people.

P a u l w a s Shawnee by birth and Kiowa through ritual adoption by Kiowa Elders Bur-ley and Pam Qui-tone. For over 25

years, Paul was the Lead singer and drummer for the Drum and Feathers Native American Drum Circle. They were regularly invited to play at Pow-Wows in several counties in Northern

California, and also at Pow Wows in Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii. Often, they had the honor and responsibility of being Host Southern Drum.

Paul was a Northern Style Fancy Dancer (with feathered bustles and headpieces) and a Gourd Dancer, a ritual dance honoring veterans and family members who served in the military. He was a beloved father fi g-ure to several members of the Drum and Feathers extended community, a dearly loved uncle to may others and very dear friend to many.

In the 12 years I knew him, Paul never let his long term Type 1 Diabetes interfere with his re-sponsibilities and adherence to his

commitments. He had many profound im-provements to his health and well-being through the Theta-Healing® and other holistic practitioners I introduced him to. In gratitude for this, Paul insisted on provid-ing me with scholar-ships that allowed me to become a Theta-Healing Practitioner, then ThetaHealing Instructor, and fi-nally a ThetaHeal-ing Master Instruc-tor and Practitioner. I lovingly dedicate all the thousands of healings coming onto the planet through my p ractice and through my ThetaHealing stu-dents to him.

is is a common reaction to the suggestion that canna-bis can be used as a suppository. Rectal administrations (suppositories) have an unfairly bad reputation in North America, despite the diverse benets they oer. is article aims to educate about the advantages associated with the rectal application of cannabis and provide a sim-ple set of guidelines for the eective use of suppositories.

ere are many advantages to the rectal administra-tion of cannabis not aorded by other routes. Medicine may still be administered even if the oral route is im-paired (e.g., due to vomiting, an injured jaw or throat, or gastrointestinal diculties) or disallowed due to the oral intake restrictions that are frequently required both before and aer surgery. Avoiding the gastrointestinal tract also prevents rst-pass metabolism by the stomach and liver, which break down many dierent molecules into their constituent parts (including Δ9-tetrahydro-cannabinol, otherwise known as THC), and allows the active constituents to reach the blood in much higher concentrations.

In the case of THC, the liver transforms around half of what is ingested into the signicantly more psychoac-tive metabolite 11-Hydroxy-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol. While not harmful in and of itself and potentially of therapeutic benet, this molecule causes much more intense cognitive eects than THC. Rectal administra-tion not only avoids these eects, but also allows a much greater proportion of THC to eventually reach the blood stream. is increase in overall eciency is also shown in the dierent levels of bioavailability that dierent administration routes aord, as seen in Fig. 1. Rectal administration also allows for medicine to exert eects over localized ailments (e.g., hemorrhoidal tissue, in-ammation of the rectum, or tumours in the rectal cav-ity). is form of use also has a much faster uptake than oral administration (around 10 minutes, on average) and leads to more consistent blood concentrations of the active constituents. e speed and reliability of their uptake combined with their circumvention of many of the issues surrounding both ingestion and inhalation make rectal applications an excellent addition to both new and pre-existing therapeutic regimens.

The combination of CBD and THC along with the other cannabinoids stimulates the body’s own immune response.

“We’re not just blowing smoke…”

In the case of THC, the liver transforms about half of what is ingested into a psychoactive metabolite, which for some may be too much to handle and causes much more intense cognitive effects than THC. Rectal suppositories not only avoid these effects but allow a much greater percentage of THC in the blood stream.

Through oral intake there is about 20% bio-availability as compared to rectally 50%-70% efficiency, with predictable effects even between different individuals.

The speed and reliability of their intake, combined with their ability to bypass many of the issues involving eating or smoking, make suppositories an excellent addition to both new and pre-existing therapeutic protocols.

All oils are third party tested as to the absence of mold and tested for THC, CBD, and CBN.

Is 'kosher' cannabis Israel's next big export? Israel's fast-growing cannabis industry has high hopes for a new market—exports of medical marijuana

to America. The country is already a leading

supplier of pharmaceuticals to the U.S. Now its government, scientists and companies are working together to turn the once illicit drug into a boom-ing new medical business.

With conservative Rabbis giving the okay for medical marijuana use, and the government adopting a relaxed stance, investment in cannabis produc-tion has exploded.

The industry is being pushed by Israel's Ministry of Health, which is trying to take the morality out of weed.

"I'm not sure that my people, my voters are so [happy] about what I did," Health Minister and ultra-orthodox Rabbi Yaakov Litzman told CNN. "If I have to look strictly at how I can help sick people who need this cannabis, I think I did the right thing."

The number of people in Israel being treated with cannabis has soared from a few dozen 10 years ago to about

23,000 in 2015. Cannabis producers expect that growth to continue.

"It could be a business of hun-dreds of millions of dollars to Israel,"

predicts Aharon Lutzky, CEO of medi-cal cannabis supplier Tikun Olam.

That's still tiny compared to the size of the U.S. market for legal canna-bis, which could be worth $22 billion by the end of the decade, according to industry data analysts New Frontier.RELATED: 8 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LEGAL POT

Israel allows companies to export their knowledge, but not marijuana or its extracts, although Lutzky and others expect the law will be changed soon to allow shipments.

Tikun Olam, which means "Heal-ing the World" in Hebrew, is hoping to capitalize on its know how overseas by getting patents on its best strains, and by entering joint ventures with other fi rms. It has already established green-houses in Canada with MedReleaf, and says it has three agreements for similar investments in the U.S.

The company claims to have developed a cannabis strain with the highest level of THC ever grown. THC is the chemical responsible for the drug's high—it's also good for relieving severe pain.

Another plant the company has developed has virtually none of the psychoactive chemical but the high-est CBD level currently in cultiva-tion. CBD is a cannabinoid that may have a number of medical benefi ts.

That could open up new markets for children, or professionals who need treatment but can't spend the day in a mental haze. Tikun Olam is also trying to produce personalized therapies.

"The real thing holding back the industry is the problem of how to make a standardized level of product from a plant where so many factors are based in nature," said Scott Lev-enson, COO of Tikun Olam.

To help maintain standards, the company's labs and greenhouses are strictly controlled to make sure there is no cross-pollination. Levels of cannabinoids are measured precisely and plants are bar-coded and tracked closely from planting to harvest.RELATED: TAKE A WEED BREAK AT WORK. IT'S ALLOWED!

Cannabis is not considered a re-stricted food in Judaism, therefore it does not carry a kosher certifi cation. The Jewish religion permits ingestion of anything natural that helps people stay healthy, and medical cannabis has been accepted even by religious conservatives.

But it has its critics in Israel, and regulations make cannabis research diff i-cult. Still, experts say the country is well placed to exploit the po-tential of medical marijuana, partly because of tighter controls on the

Cannabis: Israel's Next Big Medical Export?industry in the U.S.

"Israel is right on the cusp of being able to grab hold of this entire industry and become the real mecca for marijuana research," says Suzanne Sisley, physician, Internal Medicine/Psychiatry at the Arizona Telemedicine Program.
