STUDENT ARRIVAL

Please remember that GEMS does not have supervision of stu-dents before 8:30am, unless they are in a school sponsored club.

If you need supervision before then, please consider the ser-vices of the Kidzone and Beyond Before & After School Program. You can register on the Seminole County Public School website or visit the program any day after 3:30pm and speak with Mrs. Hayes, our on-site coordinator for the Before & After School Program.

STUDENT DISMISSAL

Please be advised that changes to dismissal will not be accepted after 3:15 p.m. (2:15 p.m. on Wednesdays). Exceptions must be approved by administration.

Parents are asked to set up a “Rainy Day” plan with their child in case of inclement weather.

Parents/Guardians are the only ones authorized to change a dismissal, not students. Please make sure you notify your child’s teacher and the front office of any change in your child’s regular dismissal routine.

Thank you!

ATTENTION ALL GEMS VISITORS:

Goldsboro is implementing a new Visitor Management Sys-tem, called Raptor. Every visitor, vendor, and volunteer who enters a Raptor-

protected school must present their drivers license which is screened instantly and automatically. Our Visitor Management System screens visitors against the sex offender registries in every state, against each school’s database for custody issues and other customized alerts. Rap-tor is a pioneer in school safety technologies and is designed around a singular purpose: to protect every child at our school, daily!

Grades 3-5 FSA Practice Tests:

In order to make the FSA Portal practice tests readily available for students to practice at school and at home, we have added a tile in ePassport. The tile is located under class tools, and is named “FSA Portal”. Stu-dents can use this tile to easily ac-cess the page where they can select an FSA practice test.

It’s Almost Time for Fun Run 2017…………….

I am sure you have heard about our upcoming PTA Fun Run. We are so excited to bring back this event! Your student should have re-ceived their collection form. If you need one, they are available (as a picture) on our PTA Facebook page or in the flyer distributer in the front office. There are great prizes to win! One student will win a Samsung Galaxy TABLET, one will win a DRONE, one will win a BIKE just to name a few grand pr izes! For every $25 of support your child raises, they will get one raffle ticket to try and win these amazing prizes and much more! Head over to the Goldsboro PTA Facebook page for more information on prizes.

We have made giving as easy as it could be. Just go online to https://99pledges.com/fund/goldsboro/ and find your student’s personal page. To find your student, click on the “Search for Participants” box and type your student’s first name. A list of students, with that first name, will show immediately along with students’ AM teachers and grade. Click on your child and you will be directed to their personal fundraising page. From there you can easily share the page by clicking on the links for Facebook, Twitter, or Email. You will want to be sure to share your PERSONAL page so your student gets credit for prizes! You may also use the paper collection sheet to collect cash or check donations. Checks should be payable to “GEMS PTA” and students may bring money in March 6th – March 15th to the stage during lunch.

Volunteers Needed! To make this event amazing we will need some help! Check out our Facebook page for a link to Volunteer Spot to sign up. You must be a registered dividend to volunteer. We will need help the week before and the week of the run to process stu-dent pledges. We will need a lot of help on the 16th handing out water and ice pops as well as lap counters who will record the number of laps each student has run. Most importantly, we need the lap counters cheering the students on as they run! Please join us on race day, as it will take many hands to make this event a success!
