March 2018

Dear Horse PDC members,

It is that time of year to start thinking about getting ready for the 2018 Fillmore County Fair. 4-H

members and families are responsible to know all county and state rules and deadlines. Horse IDs will be

due May 15, 2018 and fair registration deadline is June 15, 2018. They are to be done on-line. Web sites

It is very important to review the bi-weekly updates from Rebecca on the 2nd

and 4th

Wednesdays of

each month. The HPDC will have information included in those updates.

Mentioning updates, we have a new points sheet for this year. We are trying something new with only

counting points. You can go to the Fillmore County Extension downloads to find it. There is also an updated

New Member Handbook available in the downloads, as well as the 2018 Fillmore County fair schedule (subject

to change).

Ensure you are re-enrolled or enrolled so you aren’t missed on any communications. Adults, please

remember if you have volunteered for any committees or plan on helping in any way, to enroll as a volunteer.

If it is your first time, you will need to get a hold of the Extension office for paperwork.

We will continue to build up our funds this year with tip night at the Pizza Ranch in Stewartville on

6/20/2018, 7/11/2018 and 8/28/2018 from 4:30 to 8:30. Please mark your calendars. We clear tables, help the

customers and clean up. We receive the tips and 10% of the sales. Invite friends and family and plan on

helping at one of these please. We will send out reminders when we get closer. Thank you everyone. These

funds go toward State and National trips, educational materials, clinicians, trophies and supplies.

We have created committees again this year to help with all the activities planned. If you would like to

sign up or have any ideas or thoughts for the committees, please let a HPDC officer know.

We will have horse judging and hippology and quiz bowl teams once again. If you are interested and

haven’t signed up, it isn’t too late. Let any HPDC chairperson know. Coaches and practices will be announced

as they get closer to start practices. Please know that flexibility is always looked at, as we know there are times

not everyone can make all practices.

We are going on our fifth year with a drill team. How awesome is that!!!! There is time yet to sign up

for the drill team. Contact a HPDC officer if you are interested or have any questions. Please know that

flexibility is always looked at, as we know there are times not everyone can make all practices.

We have our monthly meetings the second Monday of every month. The HPDC 2017-2018 Calendar is

on the Fillmore County Extension downloads. A lot of information and conversation takes place at the monthly

meetings.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon,
