Research Update

We currently have about sixty members active or interested in specific research projects with new members joining and others leaving due to other commitments.

Please note that current projects are listed in detail on the research web page, see below.

We have now four history projects which have been published as part of the Shared Learning project, Citizen 800. Very well done, Lesley and her group! If interested in developing new history projects let us know.

Our latest (fourth) collaborative research project with the University of Kent on Recognition of Emotions in Faces is almost complete, with several of our members assisting the main researcher.

We have now almost completed the final stage of a collaboration with the Sports Science department at Kent on Muscles Used while Standing. Our members have assisted in carrying out the study and we will have a feedback seminar in a few months’ time when the data analysis has been completed. All will be welcome.

Some members have been interviewed by a PhD student at the University of Kent on Non-traditional Religious Beliefs. She is very grateful for their input.

The Donkey Learning project has run into difficulties with insurance issues. Does anyone have a couple of fit donkeys?

You may be asked to participate in a study we are running on how we use the internet. If you want to help run the project please contact David Clarke.

We have completed our analysis of the focus group data from the Carers Create project and are preparing to write up the project for future publication (watch this space).

We have been asked to evaluate a large-scale project (Sea Folk Sing) on memories of war, singing and dancing in Medway and Swale. (See their website). This will involve interviewing and focus groups, so if you want to assist with this let me know.
