2021 Chapter Directors

Welcome to March, everyone! It seems like a time to
celebrate. Spring begins on March 20th. We roll the
clocks forward on March 14th, providing an extra hour
of daylight. Maintenance day is on the calendar for
April 3rd. After surviving the snow and bitter cold, these
dates should be enough to bring us out of hibernation
and ready to ride! Teresa and I are very excited about
the riding season ahead.
Your Chapter staff has been working hard to plan rides and other events for 2021. Al-
though it’s not totally complete, a rough draft should be in your hands soon. Our season
will start with impromptu rides, as the weather allows. We have 3 or 4 destinations
planned to be called on short notice. We are planning two overnight trips, breakfast
rides, throwed rolls, ice cream and a wiener run. How about an evening at the Skyview
drive-in or the horse races at Fairmount? More research and planning are necessary for
some of these events; they will be added to the calendar and posted as soon as the details
are worked out.
When you add in the District Rally at Branson and Wing Ding it should be a busy riding
season. We are looking forward to some fun on the Wing. We hope you share our enthu-
siasm!

2021 Assistant Chapter Director
Danny Haney
Welcome to March and hopes for warmer weather.
We were able to have our first in person Chapter
Meeting (with masks of course) in February. In addi-
tion to the in-person meeting Cheryl E. was kind
enough to be “camera person” during the meeting so
that we were “Live” through Facebook Live. The
meeting and live video went very well with an in-
person attendance of 19 and many others watching
live on Facebook. One of the main advantages of the
live portion of the meeting was that people from any-
where could tune in and join the meeting. Cheryl kept
us up to date on comments from those “attending” the meeting virtually. It was great fun to see fa-
miliar faces and hear from everyone. Thanks again for Cheryl’s idea and being producer/director/
Camera Person for the virtual portion of the meeting.
On February 6 we had our District Zoom meeting. The majority of the meeting was discussing
whether we should have Spring Fling this year. It was agreed that because several people have not
had the vaccine and because Spring Fling was inside, we should cancel this year in the interest of the
health and safety of everyone. Remember to cancel your reservation for this year and make a reser-
vation for March 11 and 12 of 2022. By the time we have the District Rally in Branson during the first
weekend in June, many people should have had the first vaccine, maybe even both shots, and will be
better prepared to participate in this year’s Branson Rally. Most of the events for the District Rally are
outdoors allowing for a more casual gathering. Hope to see everyone there!
After the bone chilling cold weather in February the coming of March will hopefully bring us warm
weather. Maybe warm enough to get in an impromptu ride. And speaking of rides, that was one of
the discussions of our last Staff meeting. There are several rides in the planning with a few overnight
rides being discussed. If anyone has any ideas for rides please let us know. Planning takes a little
more time and research because some destinations still have restrictions or could be temporarily or
permanently closed. Stay tuned.
Just in case the weather gives us a break and some of us get out for a short ride, make sure you
check your bike over, especially tire pressure, before feeling the breeze on your knees. The past cold
weather will significantly affect tire pressure. Since bikes have been sitting for several weeks a T-
CLOCS inspection is a good idea. Better safe than sorry. If you do ride be aware of your surround-
ings. People will not be expecting motorcycles on the roads this time of year. Watch your mirrors for
people not paying attention when you are making stops or slowing for turns. Try to leave yourself an
escape path at stop lights and intersections.
As always, ride when you can but be SAFE!

Reality setting in and we are heading home in 2 days after spending last 2 months at South Padre Island in Texas. It is time to get some rest and get back to family and friends.
The Staff have been busy setting up rides and activities for this year and we commend them on a great job. We missed both Zoom staff meetings but not because we didn’t want to be part of them.
Really looking forward to maintenance day at our house on April 3rd and backup day is April 10th. Will be glad to see as many as we can get to come. Guarantee it is fun and re-warding.
Please get your rides ready and safe for this riding season! I am sure it will be a better year than last years! (The year we all would like to forget)!
See you all soon!

A MESSAGE FROM:
OUR 2021 COUPLE OF THE YEAR
Tom and Cindy Stewart
Chapter Z Couple of The Year
WOW !
What an honor to be selected as your Chapter Couple of The Year for 2021. We were overwhelmed with
shock, surprise and awe when our Directors, Ron and Teresa came to us and presented us with the medallions.
This is not, how they wanted to do it, no, not at all. However, between the Covid pandemic and the fact that
Cindy was just about to have knee replacement surgery and on quarantine, time was not on their side. So, as
the leaders they are, they made a decision and executed it, well!
We are very proud to represent Missouri Chapter Z as the Couple of the Year. This chapter and the mem-
bers of this chapter are very important and very dear to our hearts. We could not be more pleased and happier
about this.
Cindy and I have been members of Chapter Z since November of 2002. Neither of knowing just how much,
this decision would change our lives. We gained a brand-new family and the best lifetime friendships one could
wish for. When we think about it, it brings tears to Cindy’s eyes and tugs at my heart.
So now, we look forward to our upcoming season of riding. Your staff is working really hard to put a ride
schedule together and get us back to the riding chapter we once were. I would like very much to invite each and
everyone of you in helping to put that schedule together. All you have to do is let your Directors or any of your
staff know where you would like to see us go. Finding new locations is always an adventure. So, be a part of it.
Participate in it. After all, isn’t that why you are here?
I would also like to encourage you to check out your Chapter’s Web Site at
www.mochapterz.homestead.com There is a wealth of information on it to check out and enjoy. Once you surf
through it, let us know what you think about your website. Sign in, and tell us. This is your website. You can al-
ways help out with some good suggestions.

My Goldwing is back home, after a brief stay at Niehaus Cycle in Litchfield, Illinois. After a
few small repairs and a little maintenance work, it’s ready to roll for the 2020 riding season.
I’m happy to be able to say that because I’m very anxious to get out into the wind. I know you
all feel the same way, so I hope you are getting your bikes ready. I’ve got the itch, and ready
to go!
For the month of February, we had 30 members at our monthly meeting. February 8th, 13 “Z”
ladies and friends had a creative gathering at Board & Brush. We had a “Valentine’s Celebra-
tion with the King” on February 15th at The Royal Dumpe, with 22 people attending. Our
monthly dinner ride was at Main Street Café with 22 present.
Have a wonderful March, and let’s get ready to ride!
