    Reading

This week in reading we focused on

MAGIC E!! Your child has a MAGIC E poem in

his/her ICR Notebook that we used as a

shared reading this week to learn about how

MAGIC E works. We went on a MAGIC E

word hunt in our GOOD FIT books and came

up with lots of examples of words with

    MAGIC E!

We continue to work on practicing our

fluency and comprehension! Be sure to

continue to build and work on this at home by

having your child read EVERY NIGHT!

    Homework

    March homework is due

    Friday, March 30th!

Remember to be reading for 20 minutes every

night and to also complete at least 10activities on the back! Lets get 100%

    participation this month!!!

    Math

In Math, we are working on fractions.

We need to know, understand and describe

and . We are also working on identifying time

to the hour. At home find some FUN ideas

to practice fractions (maybe with some

yummy pizza) and ask your child to tell you

the time using an analog clock! You can also

continue practicing those skills like counting

money, counting in different ways, story

    problems and adding and subtracting.

MATH CONTWe took our first timed math fact test

this week. We are trying to complete 50

facts in 3 minutes. We are using these to

help us become more fluent at our math

facts. Our goal is that everytime we take

it, we do better than the previous time. This is strictly for fun and practice. You

can print your own facts off on

    mathfactcafe.com.

    WRITING

    SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!! This week

we wrote about all the things we love about

spring. Our learning target continues to

focus on punctuation and capitalization. We

are working hord to become more consistent

at doing this in all the writing that we do. As

your child writes at home be sure to remind

them to put punctuation at the end of a

sentence and a capital at the beginning!

    CANS FOR CASH!!!!!

    Our Cans for Cash bin

is looking a little bare. Lets put

Ponderosa on the map and raise

a truckload of money to support

a charity, cause or country still

to be determined. If you have

    cans you are saving, please

    CRUSH THEM and then send

them into school in a garbage

bag. Thanks so much! LETS GO

    PANDAS!!!
