Unlike other national cooperatives: • AEPA is comprised of education purchasing professionals representing lead agencies in their respective states. • AEPA is a non-profit organization that is governed by educational service agencies or political subdivisions. • AEPA members advertise the bids in their state based on their local bidding requirements. • AEPA members award the contracts based on state specific legal requirements. AEPA...What Sets Us Apart...

The Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA) is a multi-state non-profi t organization made up of Educational Service Districts and political subdivisions. With 26 member states, we serve 25 million students and purchase over $500 million annually. We are a “true” cooperative who serves to leverage purchasing power to benefi t all schools and agencies, regardless of size, with the ability to purchase at equal buying levels.

But what really sets AEPA apart from other national cooperatives is that each member advertises the bids based on their local bidding requirements and awards the contracts with terms and conditions that meet their state’s procurement laws. In addition, each member agency provides staff to volunteer a portion of their time to AEPA to issue solicitations, review bid responses, administer policy, select new bid categories, develop strategy, and create marketing initiatives. Unlike other national cooperatives:

• AEPA is comprised of education purchasing professionals representing lead agencies in their respective states.• AEPA is a non-profi t organization that is governed by educational service agencies or political subdivisions.• AEPA members advertise the bids in their state based on their local bidding requirements. • AEPA members award the contracts based on state specifi c legal requirements.

As a founding member of AEPA, KCDA members have access to the best national contracts available for administrative software, athletics, copiers, furniture, modular buildings, musical instruments, roofi ng, synthetic turf and track surfaces, scoreboards, and utility vehicles. Since KCDA is owned by Washington’s Public School Districts, every dollar spent using AEPA contracts through KCDA increases our purchasing power and helps us get lower pricing to our members. More importantly, the dollars spent stay in the Northwest instead of ending up in some other part of the country. The next time you have a choice, remember AEPA …Nationally Bid, Locally Awarded!

Please be sure to let KCDA know when you have personnel changes, new locations, or schools that have been relocated within your district. Keeping this information current will ensure that your orders are processed correctly and delivered without delays.

It is time to start thinking about supplies for the 2016-2017 year.

Start-up orders are a way to order ahead of time, those items you need to just to get you started for the year. Orders can be placed at www.kcda.org with a future delivery date, or faxed, phoned or mailed to us.

Blank order forms can be printed from our website if needed. Please indicate your requested delivery date for summer or beginning of the year. Our warehouse will make every attempt to meet your requested date.

Please note that 8/15—9/15 is our busiest delivery time.

Contact Information and Customer Changes

KCDA’s new Product Reference Guide will be published this April 2016. Our new Product Reference Guide will be a printed resource of the thousands of KCDA items that we inventory in our Kent, WA warehouse.

Because KCDA’s inventory is sourced from multiple vendors and in that prices may change up or down throughout the year our new Product Reference Guide will not be printed with KCDA pricing. Current prices for all KCDA warehouse items will be listed and regularly updated on our website at KCDA.org.

If you would like to receive a copy of our new KCDA Product Reference Guide please contact KCDA Customer Service.

FROM OUR MARKETING DEPARTMENT

Dane HewittDirector of Marketing

MEET OUR STAFF

Football is America’s most popular spectator sport! From local high school teams’ playing on Friday night to national powerhouses like the Seahawks fi lling stadiums on Sunday’s, football captures our imagination and attention like no other pastime! While we are used to star teams receiving lots of publicity it is the artifi cial turf fi elds that they play on that have been generating

the most attention as of late, due to a material the artifi cial turf industry employs called “crumb rubber”.

Artifi cial turf fi elds have been installed over the past decades using crumb rubber (ground up tires) as an infi ll material to provide a cushioning layer and traction surface for the players using these artifi cial turf fi elds. In the last few years a controversy has emerged as to whether the use of crumb rubber poses a health risk to players or not. Each side of this issue has raised their concerns and posted their respective health studies and the resulting debate shows no signs of being resolved any time soon.

KCDA provides athletic turf options…

At their February 2016 meeting the KCDA Board of Directors awarded three contracts for the installation of artifi cial turf surfaces. The three companies awarded: Field Turf, Hellas Construction and UBU Sports all employ crumb rubber as a primary infi ll for the installation of their artifi cial turf surfaces. In order to provide our members with the widest range of options available, KCDA asked these companies to also off er our members non-crumb rubber options for those interested in considering alternative infi ll materials. The resulting non-crumb rubber infi ll options received and now included on KCDA’s turf contracts include organic materials such as natural cork and coconut fi ber and a recycled product called “Nike Grind” which is a created from used athletic shoes. As always, our goal at KCDA is to provide our members with the widest array of purchasing options available to meet the specifi c needs of our KCDA members.

If your school district is considering the installation of artifi cial turf and would like to receive more information on KCDA’s athletic turf options please contact KCDA Purchasing Agent Tom Carroll at 800-422-5019 or [email protected]

Athletic fields in the news...

Wendy works in the background at KCDA, if you have looked at our website www.kcda.org, used the KCDA calendar, touched the paper catalog or ordered products from Supply Link, chances are you’ve seen her work.

Since 1999 she has produced marketing materials that support our members. “I am very lucky to work as the website designer/graphic artist at KCDA, it challenges me and fulfi lls my creative nature”.

As a Northwest native Wendy has enjoyed living in the Puget Sound all her life. She resides with her husband Bob, 2 dogs and 1 cat. In my free time I enjoy knitting, crocheting and skating the green river trail.
