A Safe Sleep Community Baby Shower is:
an interactive event that invites new and expectant parents, their support people and community service providers to get together for an educational “baby shower.”
Safe Sleep Community Baby Showers are occurring statewide facilitated/co-facilitated by Safe Sleep Instructors (SSIs)

Project Methods
Women who attend the crib clinic will also receive a brief tobacco intervention from the Safe Sleep Instructor to
encourage them to continue using the Quitline
The Quitline will encourage callers to contact the KIDS Network for a free portable crib and to participate in a
Crib Clinic to learn about safe sleep
This project developed a social marketing campaign directed to pregnant women to call the Kansas Tobacco
Quitline
How can providers help?
• Provide brief tobacco dependence treatment, including referral to the Kansas Tobacco Quitline
• Consider using the Quitline fax referral service
• Educate about safe sleep
• Share campaign social media posts
