Cruising inspirationThe Solent is well known for being the ultimate playground for sailors. On the South Coast of England between the mainland and the Isle of Wight, this popular cruising ground tempts every type of water sport enthusiast, with a huge number of races and regattas taking place each year, along with sheltered waters it has something to offer everyone. Approximately 30 miles long and 5 miles wide, it offers a magnificent coastline and an amazing variety of sailing conditions.
On the western edge of the Solent, Lymington is perfectly based for all types of boating. Take a RIB to Yarmouth and arrive within 20 minutes or cruise to France – the choice is yours!
For day sailing and anchorages, choose a quiet natural harbour such as Newtown Creek or head for the hustle and bustle of Southampton. Beyond the Solent, to the West, there’s the natural harbour at Poole, Studland Bay and Sandbanks within easy reach, and Portsmouth to the East – one of the most historical harbours in the UK.
So many places to explore, and all within a day or two’s sail.
These are some of our favourite places to visit – just a stone’s throw away. The Hut at Colwell Bay, IoW – 4.5 nmA great beach restaurant and stunning sunsets, anchor up and they will take you ashore in a RIB. Alum Bay, IoW – 6.5 nmThis gorgeous anchorage overlooks The Needles, and it’s a fantastic spot for swimming. Yarmouth, IoW – 3 nmA friendly harbour with plenty to do including beautiful walks and superb restaurants. Newton Creek, IoW – 5 nmA stunning anchorage in a nature reserve. The New Inn is within walking distance if you get the tides right.
Cowes, IoW – 9.5 nmAn iconic yachting destination with lots to see and do. If you have time, pop to The Folly Inn about 2 miles further up the River Medina. Hurst Castle – 3.5 nmGood for a lunch stop, this landmark close to Lymington River has an open anchorage, but be careful of the strong tidal current alongside the beach. Beaulieu River – 7.5 nmExperience tranquillity andstunning natural beauty on theBeaulieu River. Tie up to oneof the river moorings or visitthe historic Buckler’s Hard.

Things to do
Must seeYou’ll find a vast array of attractions, and places of interest to discover and explore at your leisure, from Lymington High Street to Keyhaven Nature Reserve, there’s plenty to engage everyone. The team at the marina office would be pleased to point you in the right direction.
Fun for the family Families, you are thoroughly spoilt for choice. Try a spot of crabbing at Town Quay, or paddleboarding with The New Forest Paddle Sport Company in Milford on Sea. Fancy a dip? Then why not try out the open air pool next to the marina. And if the weather threatens to spoil your outdoor plans, there’s always the cute cinema at the Lymington Community Centre to offer shelter.
Be a sportFor those of you who crave a little action, there is tons of stuff to do to keep you on your feet including beautiful coastal and New Forest walks. Or why not take in the sea air and sights on one of our bicycles – it’s amazing what you can discover! Partial to a spot of horse riding? Then trot on to the Burley Villa Equestrian Centre for all things horses. For golf fans there’s the nearby Walhampton Golf Course with a new Adventure Golf Course.
Something differentIf you’re eager to get crafty and learn a new skill, why not learn how to throw a pot at the charming Vinegar Hill Pottery.
RestaurantsThere are too many wonderful restaurants in and around Lymington to list here. So why not ask for our personal recommendations at the marina office. Or better still, pop into our own amazing eatery, the Haven Bar & Restaurant next door.
ShoppingWhether you can’t go a day without retail therapy or you need to pick up some souvenirs or essential supplies, Lymington has lots of retail outlets to satisfy even the savviest of shoppers. From independent shops, boutiques and galleries, to supermarkets, including Waitrose, M&S Food and Tesco, there are many opportunities to splash some cash.
Don’t miss! The lively street
market in Lymington High Street
every Saturday.
Don’t forget, you can always drop into the Lymington Tourist Office or give them a call on
01590 689000 for more ideas and information.

Water, water everywhere (even in your fuel tank!)It’s widely accepted that fuel tanks should be kept as full as possible to minimise condensation thataccumulates as ‘free water’ in your fuel tank. Watercontamination is the root cause of rust and manyother fuel and engine problems… it can also causemisfiring, black smoke, incomplete and inefficientburning, lost fuel economy and eventually cloggedfilters. Left untreated, poor performance, breakdownsand even engine damage can result. Removing anywater contamination with Fuel Set FCC will prevent
these problems, clean your entire fuelsystem and keep your fuel in tip-top
condition. Clean engines runsmoother and more efficiently, giving better performance. Whydelay? It’s the easiest decision youcan make today!
