Introduction

NOTICEThis manual covers several units. Some features and screenshots may differ from your unit’s capabilities or from what you see on your screen. Your unit, however, will function in a similar manner.

Getting Started

Turn unit on/off

Press and hold the LIGhT/POwEr key for three seconds.

Adjusting the backlight

Press the LIGhT/POwEr key, select Brightness and press the keypad left/right.

Muting AudioSelect Mute Audio from the System menu and press ENTEr.

ZOOM Keys: used to zoom in/zoom out (On GPS-capable units, press keys simultaneously to create Man Overboard waypoint)

PAGES: used to select pages

KEYPAD: controls cursor & selects items on menus

MENU: Opens settings, context and page menus

ENTEr: confirms menu selections

LIGhT/POwEr: controls backlight level and turns unit on/off

Exiting menus

Press Menu to see if the screen or menu has an exit option). If it does (Close, Return to screen, Exit dialog, etc), highlight the exit option and press ENTEr to exit.

If there is no exit option press the MENU key repeatedly to close all menus.

Standby modeLowers power consumption by putting the unit into a sleep mode. Press any key to resume normal operation.

Restoring DefaultsResets unit options and settings to defaults.

Overlay DataAllows you to display data on the screen. Overlay data can be accessed on the Chart, Sonar and DSI menus.

Advanced ModeEnables advanced fea-tures/settings. On some units, advanced mode is enabled by answering Yes to the advanced user question in the Setup Wiz-ard. To repeat the Setup Wizard, restore defaults.

WARNING: Leaving the unit in Standby with the boat turned

off will drain the battery.

Sonar Operation

Trackback You can review your sonar history by pressing the keypad to the left until the screen starts to move in reverse and the sonar history bar appears at the bottom of the screen.

Move the sonar history bar all the way to the right to resume normal sonar scrolling, or press MENU and select Exit cursor mode.

Adjusting the displaySensitivity (Traditional Sonar)

Controls the level of detail on the screen. Too much detail will clutter the screen. Conversely, desired echoes may not be displayed if Sensitivity is set too low.

Sonar history bar

Colorline (Advanced mode - traditional)

Separates strong sonar echoes from weak sonar echoes, making it easier to distinguish fish or structure from the bottom.

On monochrome units, wide bands of gray indicate a hard sonar return, while softer returns are shown as dark, narrow lines.

Contrast (DSI sonar)

Adjusts the brightness ratio between light and dark areas on the screen, making it easier to dis-tinguish objects from the background.

Color

Changes the look of the display using palettes with varying degrees of color and brightness.

Features

Fishing Mode (Traditional)

Fishing modes are preset packages of sonar set-tings geared to specific fishing conditions.

Noise rejection: counteracts sonar signal interference by reducing onscreen clutter.

Surface Clarity: reduces clutter near the water’s surface (Advanced mode only).

Range: selects the section of the water column shown on the display

Frequency: selects transducer frequency

Stop sonar: pauses the sonar screen

Sonar SettingsAlarms

The Shallow alarm sounds a tone when your vessel enters water shallower than the selected alarm threshold.

The Fish Alarm sounds a tone when a fish symbol appears on the display (Non-DSI).

Fishing Mode Depth SettingsGeneral Use ≤ 1,000’ 50% Ping speed

Shallow water ≤ 60’ 75% Ping speed

Fresh water ≤ 400’ 50% Ping speed

Deep water ≥ 1,000’ 50% Ping speed

Slow Trolling ≤ 400’ 50% Ping speed

Fast Trolling ≤ 400’ Lower chart speed

Clear water ≤ 400’ 50% Ping speed

Ice Fishing ≤ 400’Reduces
