More than 17 million visitors a year make Romford Market
The Market’s rich history dates back more than 750 years when it began as a sheep market after King Henry III gave instructions for the town to have a market every Wednesday. A 13th century rule that no other market can be set up within a day’s sheep drive (about six miles) from Romford still exists today.
Today Romford Market, held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, is at the heart of four shopping centres – The Liberty, Mercury Mall, Romford Shopping Hall and The Brewery, offer ing a comprehensive shopping experience with high street and independent brands, and
a unique mix of stores and stalls. Havering Museum, two cinemas and ten pin bowling are all close by.
Throughout the year, Romford Market hosts an array of events and entertainment for all the family, supported by a 12 month advertising campaign encompassing press, radio, posters, billboards, buses and social media. At Christmas, crowds of up to 10,000 visitors fill the Market Place for the Christmas Lights Switch On event and the fireworks finale.
With excellent road, rail, bus and 5,000 parking spaces close by – there’s no excuse not to visitRomford Market.
