    Downtown Central Business DistrictMarket Square Options

    Council has requested the publics input regarding the use of Market Square and King George Park.

    Options were contained in the Downtown Central Business District Community Improvement Planand Urban Design Strategy for this area and council would like further input from the public as to thechanges and amenities, if any, they would like to see.

    The concepts depicted below are what have been illustrated in the CIP:

    KING GEORGE PARK

    Retain and redesign the existing commemoration function.

    Include a permanent stage structure that can accommodate seasonal events (Canal Days).

    Incorporate ample seating opportunities, both formal and informal.

    Include tree and foundation plantings to provide visual interest and colour along the edges of

    the space.

    Incorporate features similar to the gateway features along the edges of space, includingpedestrian lighting and banner materials.

    Incorporate public art and a community event board or kiosk.
