Objective

• Interview six global Japanese companies about their international marketing strategies and how they have adapted to meet Western consumers, but at the same time keeping their Japanese traditions.

• Afterwards, compare and contrast their strategies to that of global companies of the United States, such as Coca-Cola and Proctor & Gamble.

Companies• Hakuhodo Ad Agency- the 2nd largest advertisement agency in Japan with

partnerships in India, France, England, Korea, Thailand, China and the United States.

• Nissin Foods- Nissin Foods has 21,900 employees and a net sale of over 3.2 billion per year. They also operate 29 plants in 11 countries. In 1971, they invented the Cup Noodle, which was a revolutionary invention that allowed the noodles to be cooked, served, and packaged in the same container.

• Pure Blue Japan- A clothing line that specializes in blue jeans that uses pure Indigo dye. Pure Blue Japan sells their products in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and the United States.

• Sapporo Beer- The oldest beer brand in Japan. Sapporo Beer is sold world-wide and has breweries stationed throughout the world as well.

• BAPE- Clothing stores located in Hong Kong, London, New York, Taipei, Paris, Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore. The company also operates hair salons and cafes. The company promotes a type of lifestyle and is currently being promoted by many hip-hop artists including Kanye West

• Hotel Miyako- The largest hotel in Kyoto, Japan. Has housed many political leaders throughout the world while visiting Japan.
