There’s one simple fact you should know: Sixth Form Colleges are the highest performing Post16 providers in a state sector that includes schooland academy sixth forms. Learners who come to usare free of the traditional restraints of school. Theydon’t wear uniforms, they know the staff by their firstnames and they feel they are in charge of their owndestinies. Yes, you’ll be pushed to work hard, but let’sface it, life is hard, and the better you’re equipped forit the better you’ll perform!

We are proud of our success in ensuring ALLstudents achieve their potential. High achievers willthrive in our challenging environment, but weencourage young people with all levels of priorattainment to enrol. Like all Sixth Form Colleges weare part of an elite, but we’re not elitist; and the factthat our results are so good reflects the fact that allour learners are stretched and supported to becomehigh achievers.

Sixth Form Colleges are experts in 16 to 18 education and act as a valuable stepping stone between the worlds of compulsory education andhigher education and employment. The PastoralCare is specialised for the 16 to 18 age group and the progression rates to university are excellent.A 2011 report conducted by the National Audit Office concluded that Sixth Form Colleges ‘performbest on most measures of learner achievement’.

The report showed that:• Learners in Sixth Form Colleges recorded higherattainment in Level 3 courses than those is schooland academy sixth form colleges or general furthereducation colleges.• According to the value added score (which measures the progress that learners make relative totheir prior attainment), 58% of Sixth Form Collegesadded more value than expected, compared to 29% of general further education colleges and 16% of school academy sixth forms.• At qualification Levels 1 to 3, Sixth Form Collegeshad higher success rates than general further education colleges (84% compared to 78%).
