Comments/Notes 11/05/16 machine not shutting off after single cycle. Suspect pneumatic valves sticking. Air supply needs re routing as the supply to valves by-passes the water trap and oil mist lubricator, will do this but will not resolve the fault but will help in future. Going to examine valves with view to repair or replace, MP aware of situation and is looking into possibility of using spare unit in silversmiths as a temp measure. 16/05/16 Have re routed air supply and examined some valves , others still to do, operators still using machine. 17/05/16 repaired and installed smaller dispenser unit, will have a look at main unit when can.. 30/11/16 Non urgent at moment, on back burner.

Comments/Notes Marc H and Martin C to investigate and plan a project to guard the rolling mill machinery, to be implemented during routine maintenance wherever possible. Added to Maint list as and when can be looked at. 24/05/16 Refer to rollingrisk.pdf The Jones mill is the one with the more significant chance of in-nip. Give thought to suitable contractors 13/06/16 Guarding is an issue for these machines. The woodworking machines (more risk) have been added to the external inspection. Once this has worked through we will look at adding other machines to this 28/10/16 Wood machines have now been done. Other items in RM now being investigated with Andy 15/02/17 Just rolling mills now, but difficult.. 16/02/17 More warning signs will be added. Requested external HS suggestions. 27/02/17 Report passed to D Watson for trial.. 06/03/17 Have fitted trial guard to first set of rolls, seems ok so are fitting similar to next set, then we will have a look at rest. 14/03/17 Have fitted guard to second set of rolls, operators have expressed concern that they will have large amounts of scrap owing to the fact they cannot roll short pieces, watch this space? Third guard will be fitted next week. 03/04/17 Removed and modified guard to enable short pieces to be rolled safely, operators happy with it. 10/04/17 Guards have been fitted to 3 of the sheet

rolls. Advised by operatives suggestion would not work on the large Jones Mill. Asked HS consultant to review report. 02/05/17 Requested update

Comments/Notes 26/10/16 Belts slipping badly, adjusted up and improved but pulleys worn out in grooves, will need to get pulley and belt sizes, order and then arrange to fit. 31/10/16 Pulley and belts ordered from City Seals & Brgs. 04/11/16 Changed pulley/belts and re aligned, adjusted tension, greased main fan shaft brgs. Ran up working ok. will require belts checking later. 16/01/17 Extractor jammed. Replaced 10 bent scrapers and 4 links, tried and jammed solid, need to drain and get inside. 20/01/17 Investigated and found scraper wear strip detached from side and jammed under bottom run of chain. Removed wear strip, cleaned out extractor side air channels, refilled with water and tested, ok. Although working the missing wear strip will require replacing at earliest opportunity to minimise wear on gulper sides which are already worn. 01/02/17 Trying to locate someone to have a look at repair. 13/02/17 Star Weld came last Friday to look at job and are happy they can help us, they will confirm later this week on an agreeable time, possibly Friday of this week. Trevor found chain jammed with another dolly and will attempt to remove on Monday. The practice of throwing dollies into extraction needs to be stopped if you want to keep extractor going as each time unnecessary extra damage occurs. 15/02/17 Proving very difficult, on going 17/02/17 Star Weld came and repaired extractor chain wear strip, ok. Chain freed and connected up, working ok. 06/03/17 Wear strip on other side detached and causing scrapers to jam, Trev removed damaged section and have arranged for Star Weld to repair.

21/03/17 Star Weld coming on Fri 24/03/17 to repair wear strip on other side etc. Trevor replacing damaged scrapers. 31/03/17 Star Weld repaired wear strip, still some scrapers to replace, but back in operation. 06/04/17 All scrapers now fitted running ok. 18/04/17 See rotoclone entry for outstanding jobs with this extraction. 02/05/17 Refer to other job

Comments/Notes 21/10/16 Urgent work required on 4 items. NOTE removed from service until fixed; a/ CNC 4008 Machine b/ Cabinet Makers Shop - Bench extraction c/ De-nibbing Section LHS and RHS Benches when work pieces coated in white primer are sanded. d/ Wadkin Spindle Moulder 13 e/ Table Saw Refer to report for further details 24/10/16 As well as listed jobs Andy from Allianz said overall there has been a marked drop off in extraction performance. In trying to find reason for this we have checked ducting for blockages, checked all 3 motors are working, checked to see if bag shaker is working, all ok, however although bags are not holding sawdust and are all in place this doses not mean they are not "blinded" which would cause a significant fall in suction. Given that nobody can remember them ever being changed before it would be prudent to have them checked and cleaned if possible and or replaced. 31/10/16 Fumex Ltd. going to come and survey wood shop DCE and advise. 14/11/16 Contacted Fumex said they coming in morning 15/11/16 Fumex engineer called to assess problem, bags are shot. When he has identified make and model of DCE he will send quote and recommendations. 30/11/16 Still waiting for quote. 5/12/16 Contacted Fumex to check on progress, going to chase up and let me know? 21/12/16 No reply to date, will chase up in new year. 03/01/17 Fumex say they have received price for replacement bags and will be sending a quote soon.

11/01/17 Don't think this is the case, after speaking to them today, they are now asking for details of the extractor so they can locate replacement bags. Will keep you advised on any progress. 16/01/17 We couldn't find any details on M/C or on paper have advised Fumex, they are going to try and source bags without info. 06/02/17 Contacted Fumex again, going to get engineer who originally surveyed job to get in touch when he gets back in office. 13/02/17 Still waiting for some contact! 15/02/17 Rang today for progress, are going to ring back again! 15/02/17 Fumex rang, upshot can't help. Have sourced another firm, Scottex, seems promising, need to send them some details. 20/02/17 Scottex sent quote which seems quite reasonable, however this was only to supply bags, we need a replacement service as well. Have been in touch and am awaiting a reply. 22/02/17 Scottex came to view job and will send quote for total job, estimated to take a full day. 27/02/17 Quote accepted, Scottex will advise on date when new bags have arrived and arrange a date to fit, SF ok to fit in whenever they can come. 21/03/17 Job arranged for Fri 24/03/17.
