Fully Alive as Missionary Disciples

As baptized Christians, we understand that we have been made disciples of Jesus Christ. We also understand, then, that we have been baptized into the life of Jesus, and that he has become the essential

element of our being. But today, in his letter to the Romans, St. Paul reminds us that we are also baptized into the death of Jesus Christ, and this gives us something to ponder. Jesus (and with Him, our sins) was crucified, died, and was buried. Then he rose from the grave. Paul tells us that we must consider ourselves “dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.” Let these words drive your discipleship this week. Leave your sins in the grave and rise up, empowered “in newness of life.”
