† CHAPMAN Duncan Born 15/5/1888. Enlisted 21/8/1914. Lieutenant Duncan is recognised as being the first Australian Officer ashore at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli at dawn on 25/4/1915. He enlisted as a Lieutenant and assigned to the 9th Battalion being the first Battalion ashore at Gallipoli. He was promoted to Captain in 1915 seeing action in Egypt to defend the Suez Canal. In 1916 Duncan was transferred to the 45th Battalion and promoted to Major seeing action on the Western Front. Duncan was Killed in Action 6/8/1916 at Pozieres in France aged 28 years.

† ERICKSON Walter William Born 1892 Cowra NSW Enlisted 9/7/1915. Service Number 195. Prior to enlisting Walter was employed as a Teacher at Wolaroi Grammar School, Orange NSW. He served as Sergeant with the

31st Battalion seeing action in France. Walter was Killed in Action 12/10/1916 in France aged 24 years. † FAIRLIE Edward Born 1897. Enlisted 31/3/1916. Service Number 2167. Prior to enlisting Edward listed his occupation as a Woodworker. He served with the 52nd Battalion embarking from Brisbane per Boorara on 16/8/1916 seeing action in France. Edward was Killed in Action 11/4/1917 in France aged 19 years. † FARQUHAR Muir Born 1882. Enlisted 26/5/1915. Service Number 735. Prior to enilsting Muir listed his occupation as a Grazier. He served with the 18th Battalion embarking from Sydney per Ceramic on 25/6/1915 seeing action at Gallipoli. Muir was Killed in Action 22/8/1915 at Gallipoli aged 34 years. † FRANCIS Algernon Cedric Born 13/12/1885. Enlisted 30/11/1915. Service Number 4435. Prior to enlisting Algernon was employed as a Clerk. He served with the 25th Battalion embarking from Sydney per Star of Victoria on 31/3/1916 seeing action on the Western Front. In a letter home Algernon wrote “The article we are fighting is made of steel and explosives, not human beings, so guess what the odds are against us”. Algernon was Killed in Action 14/11/1916 in France aged 20 years

† FULCHER Eric George Born 1891. Enlisted 18/10/1916. Service Number 6322. Prior to enlisting Eric listed his occupation as a Farmer. He served with the 25th Battalion embarking Sydney per Demosthenes on 23/12/1916 seeing action on the Western Front. Eric was wounded by gunshot to the arm and back. Eric was Killed in Action 20/9/1917 in Belgium aged 25 years. † GOODCHILD William Birkett Born 1893. Enlisted 1/3/1916. Service Number 5526. Prior to enlisting William was employed as a Labourer. He served with the 26th Battalion seeing action on the Western Front. William was wounded by gunshot to the buttock on 27/4/1917 and returned to the Field in Belgium. He was again wounded by gas shell to the right knee. William was Killed in Action 31/10/1917 in Belgium aged 24 years.

served in Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula. In 1916 he took part in the Battles of Pozieres and Mouqet Farm doing invaluable work in reconnaissance and supervision. He was “Mentioned in Dispatches” and awarded a “Distinguished Service Order” medal. Rupert was Killed in Action 20/9/1917 in Belgium aged 39 years. † JOHNSTON Sydney Joseph Born 1898. Enlisted 18/2/1916. Service Number 3580A. Prior to enlisting Sydney listed his ocupation as a Station Overseer. He served with the 31st Battalion embarking from Brisbane per Boorara on 16/8/1916 seeing action on the Western Front. Sydney was Killed in Action 29/9/1917 at Polygon Wood, Ypres in Belgium aged 21 years.

† THOM Charles Henry Wallace Born 19/2/1886. Enlisted 18/8/1914. Lieutenant Prior to enlisting Charles worked as a Mining Surveyor and Civil Engineer mainly in the Roma and Charters Towers area of Queensland. He served with the

3rd Field Company Engineers and the 4th Field Company Engineers at Gallipoli. Charles was Killed in Action 29/10/1915 at Gallipoli aged 28 years.

† VANCE John William Born 1897. Enlisted 17/9/1915. Service Number 3962. John was employed as a Carpenter prior to enlisting. He served with the 2nd Battalion seeing action in France. John Died of Illness 11/12/1916 in France aged 19 years.

† WARRY Victor Thomas Symes Born 15/7/1895. Enlisted 28/5/1915. Lieutenant Prior to enlisting Victor was a Lieutenant in the Cadets at Newington College. He served with the 25th Battalion at Gallipoli as an Officer at the age of 19 years and proceeded to France in 1916. Victor was Killed in Action 29/7/1916 at Pozieres, France aged 21 years.

† BANVILL Norman Robert Born 31/10/1921. Enlisted 12/9/1940. Service Number 23549. Prior to enlisting Norman was employed as telephone mechanic. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a wireless air gunner with 20 Squadron. Norman escaped from Rabaul after the Japanese invasion and took part in raids over enemy territory. He was reported missing after the Battle of the Coral Sea and is believed to have been captured and then executed after interrogation. There is no known grave but Norman is commemorated on the Port Moresby Memorial. Norman was Killed in Action 7/5/1942 in New Guinea aged 20 years.

† BROWN Arthur Hugh Steyning “Tony” Born 18/5/1915. Enlisted 6/12/1940. Service Number 404867.

He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Pilot Officer with 51 Squadron. Arthur saw action in England and over Europe with his last mission on a Whitley VZ9133 over Bay of Biscay, Spain. Arthur was Killed in Action 16/10/1942 in Spain aged 27 years. † CLARKE Gordon Walter Born 7/5/1921. Enlisted 6/1/1941. Service Number 405042. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Navigator with 1 Operational training Unit. Gordon was on a Oxford BC119 that crashed near Sale, Victoria killing all on board. Gordon was killed in an aircraft accident on 19/9/1943 in Australia aged 22 years.

† GLAZENBROOK James George Leslie Born 10/12/1918. Enlisted 25/4/1942. Service Number 425640. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Flight Sergeant air gunner with 619 Squadron. James was on Lancaster III LM419 “N” when it crashed at Oberkollwargen Schmeir, near Stuttgart in Germany killing all on board. James was Killed in Action 25/2/1944 in Germany aged 25 years. † LANGUSCH Leslie Douglas Born 25/10/1917. Enlisted 25/5/1941. Service Number 405744. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Pilot Officer with 30 Squadron. Leslie was flying a

Bristol Beaufighter carrying spare parts that crashed at Mt Disappointment on route between Richmond, New South Wales and Laverton, Victoria killing all on board. Leslie was killed in an aircraft accident on 5/8/1942 in Australia aged 24 years.

† LAWRENCE Thomas Born 19/4/1913. Enlisted 29/1/1942. Service Number QX40685. Prior to enlisting Thomas listed his employment as a Farmer at Tiaro. Enlisting with the AIF, he served with the 47th Battalion seeing action in New Guinea. Thomas was Killed in Action 28/8/1943 in New Guinea aged 30 years.

† LENNIE Thomas John Born 6/2/1913. Enlisted 25/4/1942. Service Number 425684. He enlisted with the RAAF and trained in Canada to become a Navigator. Thomas saw action in England with his last mission on a Mitchell Bomber FW194 over Arnhem, Holland with 98 Squadron. Thomas was Killed in Action 25/9/1944 in Holland aged 31 years.

† LOWE Vernon Frederick Born 28/6/1919. Enlisted 2/3/1941. Service Number 405314. Prior to enlisting Vernon was employed by the Union Bank. He enlisted with the RAAF and trained in Canada to receive his Wings. Flying Officer Lowe flew missions in England for two years with his last mission on a Bristol Blenheim L1312 that crashed near Boothby, Pagnell, England. Vernon was Killed in Action on 19/9/1943 in England aged 24 years.

† LOXTON Alan Frederick Born 14/5/1919. Enlisted 8/11/1941. Service Number 414710. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Flight Sergeant with 467 Squadron. Alan saw action in England with his last mission on a Lancaster Bomber MKIII EE194 with the target being Nuremberg, Germany. Alan was Killed in Action 28/8/1943 in Germany aged 24 years

† MOULDEN Arthur Alexander “Mickey” Born 19/3/1922. Enlisted 14/1/1942. Service Number QX28650. Enlisting with the AIF, he served with the 9th Battalion seeing action in New Guinea. Arthur was Killed in Action 2/1/1943 in New Guinea aged 20 years. † MYCOCK Francis John Born 18/4/1913. Enlisted 20/7/1940. Service Number QX10861. Prior to enlisting Francis was employed as a Pharmaceutical Chemist. He enlsited as Staff Sergeant with Australian Army Medical Corp serving with the 2/12 Field Ambulance. Francis was on board the Centaur Hospital Ship enroute from Sydney to Cairns when it was hit by a Japanese Submarine torpedo and sank off the Queensland coast, south of Moreton Island killing 268. Francis was Killed in Action on the Centaur on 14/5/1943 aged 30 years. † OBERHARDT Edgar Born 18/9/1923. Enlisted 15/8/1942. Service Number 426943. He enlisted with the RAAF and trained to become a Flight Sergeant serving with 460 Squadron. Edgar saw action in England and Europe with his last mission on a Lancaster JD734. Edgar was Killed in Action 10/4/1944 in the Netherlands aged 20 years.

† PERRY Leonard Charles Born 28/5/1922. Enlisted 12/10/1941. Service Number 414508. He enlisted with the RAAF and trained to become a Flying Officer serving with 3 Advanced Flying Unit. Leonard saw action in England with his last mission on an Oxford 1 in England. Leonard was Killed in Action 3/12/1943 in England aged 21 years.

† SMITH Neil Born 7/2/1905 Enlisted 12/2/1941 Service Number QX64907 Prior to enlisting Neil list has occupation as Orchardist at Stanthorpe. Enlisting with the AIF, he served with the 49th Battalion seeing action in New Guinea where he was promoted to Corporal. Neil was captured as a Prisoner of War and was killed at sea on Japanese Navy vessel Montevideo Mau that was torpedoed by a US Submarine transporting from Rabaul to Hainan Island. He is commemorated on the Port Moresby Memorial. Neil was Killed in Action on 1/7/1942 on the Montevideo Maru aged 37 years.

† SMITH Graham Lloyd Thorneloe Born 26/8/1914. Enlisted 31/3/1941. Service Number 405524. He enlisted with the RAAF and trained to become a Flying Officer serving with 10 Squadron. Graham saw action in England with his last mission on a Sunderland W3986 that crashed at sea near Eddystone Lighthouse, England killing all onboard. Graham was Killed in Action 20/5/1943 in England aged 28 years. † TEITZEL Louis James King Born 13/12/1915. Enlisted 4/11/1939. Service Number QX2105. Enlisting with the AIF, he served with the 2/12th Battalion as Lieutenant seeing action in New Guinea. Louis was awarded “Mentioned in Dispatches” for exceptional services in field in S.W.P. Area. Louis was Killed in Action 31/8/1942 in New Guinea aged 26 years.

† TRUSSELL Eric Thomas Born 2/1/1920. Enlisted 15/8/1940. Service Number Q25228. Prior to enlisting Eric was employed at Denhams Pty Ltd. Enlisting with the AIF, he served with the 47th Battalion seeing action in New Guinea. While at Burleigh Heads Convalescent Depot, Eric died of drowning in a fishing accident. Eric died 17/2/1945 in Australia aged 25 years.

† WILSON James Leslie Born 31/1/1916. Enlisted 6/1/1941. Service Number 405103. He enlisted with the RAAF serving as a Sergeant with 108 Squadron. James saw action in the Middle East with his last mission on a Wellington HF864 that crashed near Crete. James was Killed in Action 25/7/1942 in the Middle East aged 26 years.
