hiStoryThe company was founded in 1939. Early in 1959 the company merged into the VOEST Group and started to manufacture the first road rolling equipment. At the end of the seventies the company entered into the defence industry. In 1993 the company was taken over by the managing group of Bank Austria. A new company named Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei GmbH was formed on November 15, 1994.

During the next few years MFL has taken over several companies and created different manufactu-ring divisions within MFL. In 1998 a new department of sawing and milling technology was success-fully integrated into MFL. The new department specializes in “turnkey” solutions for its customers.

MFL is well known for their com-bined use of the latest state of the art technologies and experience to develop and design the best equipment available.

Sawing technology

The Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei GmbH is working with the development and design of sawing and milling machines for the steel and non-ferrous industry for more than 10 years.

Sawing machine For material inSpection

Fully automatic sawing machines for the material inspection are used in sample shops. The machine cuts sample pieces for making different kinds of material inspections.

MFL provides single machines as well as turn-key solutions.

The MFL welding seam processing machine is used by manufacturers of large diameter pipes.

The rail sawing and drilling machine cuts and drills rails in one pass.

The railmilling machine is used for the removal of

Stationary railmilling machine

The stationary railmilling machine is used for the removal of above mentioned rail defects too. For processing the track it has to be removed from the road bed.

The modular concept developed by MFL makes it possible to combine milling, chip removal, and grinding modules as required.

Special machinery

ring Splitting machine

The ring splitting machine type rTA 120/1000-22 is used primarily in ring rolling mills to separate multi-ple rings. The maximum initial height of the multiple ring is 600 mm.

It is cut into segments of 38 to 300 mm. The current ring diameter is 500 mm to 1200 mm. Of course the machine can also be designed to process larger multiple rings.

This patented machine can increase production and quality considerably.

advantages for the user:

- Optimal work load of the rolling mill by subsequent separation of the rings by the ring splitting machine

- Cost-saving production of rings with a low initial height

- High plane parallelism and nearly burr free surface of the produced rings

- Short cycle times and resulting of this an increased output

pipe bevelling machine

The pipe bevelling machine is used for deburring of unmachined pipe ends. It adds different kinds of chamfers to the pipe ends.

deep drilling machine

The deep drilling machine is used for reboring and deep boring (core drilling/full material drilling) of heating pipes. MFL guaran-tees a straightness of the drilling of 0.2 mm on a pipe length of up to 12 m.

Saw bladeS

The saw blade with exchangeable carbides is a new and already patented development of MFL.

advantages for the user:

- Less investment costs compared to brazed saw blades because a lower number of saw blades is required for the running operation

- No grinding centre and transport to grinding shops is necessary

- Increased life time / productivity by an individual coating of the carbides

- Optimum adjustment to special materials is possible

milling toolS

The milling tools consist of a base body which is equipped with exchangeable cassettes. These cassettes include the cutting tips. The milling tools are used for the welding seam preparation and for the preparation of different profile shapes.

advantages for the user:

- Preparation of different profile shapes with one base body only because the base body can be equipped with different cassettes

- Exchangeable cassettes protect the base body from damage (in case of a crash only the cassettes have to be exchanged) - Cost saving!
