RE Lenten Work of Mercy to benefit the All Saints sister parish in Banica, Dominican Republic. This Lent, Religious Education will collect funds to benefit the Diocese of Arlington’s mission in Banica. RE students will be making a Lenten change jar in class and are asked to collect spare change. This is an excellent time to speak to your child about Lenten sacrifice and ideas about what they could sacrifice during Lent to raise funds for the poor.

Collection Containers Needed.

• At the next RE Class, please have your child/ren bring a clean and EMPTY food product can or container (an empty can of beans, butter container, large yogurt container, etc.)

• The students will individually decorate their own collection container in class.

• The collection will last throughout Lent. Students may bring in their spare change in their collection container on the last class before the RE Easter break (the week of April 2).

We thank All Saints parishioners and Seton High School for donating to the Medical Missionaries Appalachian drive to help the poorest of the poor. Once again, your help was a big success and we are grateful for your continued support. May God bless all of you,

sunday Mass and the Rite of ChRistian initiation of adults (rcIa)

What is a “Scrutiny”? The scrutinies, which are solemnly celebrated on Sundays and are reinforced by an exorcism, are rites for self-searching and repentance and have above all a spiritual purpose. The scrutinies are meant to uncover, then heal all that is weak, defective, or sinful in the hearts of the elect (the unbaptized preparing for Christian initiation at the Easter Vigil); to begin to bring out, then strengthen all that is upright, strong, and good. The scrutinies are

celebrated in order to deliver the elect from the power of sin and Satan, to protect them against temptation, and to give them strength in Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. These rites, therefore, should complete the conversion of the elect and deepen their resolve to hold fast to Christ and to carry out their decision to love God above all. (RCIA #141)

The scrutiny rites are celebrated on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of Lent and will be celebrated on Sundays, Mar. 4, 11, and. 18, at these Masses:

• 11:30 am Mass (English)• 3:30 pm Mass (Spanish).

Theses Masses will have the Cycle A Lectionary readings; all other Masses will have the Cycle B Lectionary readings.

Pray for our elect, candidates for full communion in the Church, and Catholics who are completing their initiation sacraments, as they approach the initiation sacraments at Easter.

¿Qué me dice Jesús a mí? ¿Qué me pide Jesús hacer?

coMIenza la Campaña CuaResmal del obispo
