Easter flowers

Thank you to all of you that donated for the Easter Flowers in remembrance/in honor of a loved one. If you would still like to do-nate, envelopes are at each entrance of the church. Baptismal Classes Baptismal Instructions for parents and Godparents will be Mon-day March 7th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the parish office. Sponsors must have received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion, and if married, must be married in the Catholic church. This program is mandatory for those who have not previously attended such a program. Please call Edie and Joe Mechelay at 665-5601 to register. After the class is taken, an appointment for the Baptism should be made with the priest. Please do not bring your Children

2016 Graduates Catholic High School Seniors If you are a graduating senior this year, please call the parish office to let us know. Every year the West Texas Catholic newspaper publishes a special edition featuring all the graduating seniors, but they need your help! Please call us as soon as possible. Deadline for names to be submitted is March 11th, 2016.

WOMEN’S COUNCIL DUES Women's Council will be collecting dues for the coming year. The dues are $10 which helps Women's Council with the many projects that we partici-pate in to help the church. You can put the money in the enve-lope and place it in the basket or give it to Delma in the of-fice. Our meetings are on the second Monday night at 7:00 PM in the conference room. We would love to have you attend our meetings, but it is not mandatory. All ladies of the parish are members of Women's Council so we hope all of you feel wel-come to join us at any time.

Preparación Para Bautismo en Español

Las instrucciones para papas y padrinos serán el 5 de Marzo a las

7:00 p.m. en la oficina de la parroquia. Los padrinos ya deben haber recibido los sacramentos de

Confirmación y Primera Comunión, y si son casados deben serlo en el Sacramento de la Iglesia Católica. Este programa es obligatorio para quienes no lo hayan tomado antes.

Seria muy bueno tomarlo durante el embarazo. Para reservaciones llamar a la oficina 665-8933.

Los niños no son admitidos a la clase porque distraen la sesion, por fa-

vor no los traiga.

Por favor recuerde notificar a la oficina de la parroquia su nueva di-rección y numero telefónico. Varios sobres dirigidos a parroquianos que se han cambiado de casa han sido devueltos por el Servicio Postal, es-to hace que la parroquia incurra en gastos extra de correo.

Primeros Viernes Iniciando en Noviembre cada Primer Viernes del mes tendremos la misa de

8:30 a.m. y le seguirá la Adoración hasta las 6:30 p.m. con una solemne Bendición del Santísimo Sacramento y Misa pro-vida. (La Misa pro-vida de los primeros sábados esta suprimida). Esta nueva Misa dará a los fieles dos oportunidades para recibir la comunión y poder así observar esta devoción.

Los demás viernes del mes la adoración al Santísimo sacramento se extenderá hasta las 7:00 p.m.

La idea clave del evangelio y la segunda lectura próxima semana es, pasar de la oscuridad a la luz, como lo simboliza la sanación del hombre que nació ciego. Por ejemplo, examinar la conciencia, especialmente a la luz de la palabra de Di-os, que nos lleva a la iluminación y esto permite a las personas hacer como dice San Pablo, "trata de descubrir lo que el Señor quiere de ti, no teniendo nada que ver con los trabajos fútiles de la oscuridad." El evangelio de hoy nos cuenta la historia de la sanación del hombre que nació ciego. La historia no acaba con la anación, si no que continúa con los argumentos sobre qué fue lo que realmente paso y sobre quién es Jesús, el que lo curo. Llamamos a Cristo "la luz del mun-do" y nos fijamos en el para poder comprender al mundo, a nosotros y a Dios. Necesitamos confesar nuestra ceguera y tener humildad ante Dios, Si queremos ser iluminados por Jesús, y no ser como los fariseos en esta historia, que se nie-gan a ver la verdad. La fundación de la historia es doble: una historia milagrosa en donde el ciego es sanado y también el decir "yo soy la Luz del mundo" el mil-agro es una señal de la verdad de ese decir, y el efecto de juzgar sale a la luz. Jesús actúa por su propia iniciativa. Cuando el hombre lo adora demuestra que ha recibido tanto la Luz física como la espiritual. Este capítulo expresa vivamente la concepción de Juan sobre el trabajo de Jesús. Por un lado él es el dador sin beneficios precedentes a la humanidad, por el otro lado las personas no están conscientes de sus propias necesidades y se aferran a la Luz inadecuada del antiguo testamento y son demasiado orgullosos para renunciar a ella. El efecto de la verdadera luz, es dejarlos ciegos porque ellos cierran los ojos. Su pecado permanece porque ellos son demasiado confidentes en su justicia. En la historia del evangelio parecen haber tres grupos de personas que no pueden ver. Pri-mero los discípulos, que han estado en compañía de Jesús por mucho tiempo, y aun así comparten las supuestas causas de enfermedad e incapacidad que tiene la sociedad y piensan que son castigos por pecados ya sea de ellos o de alguien más. Por lo tanto las personas que eran afectadas de esta manera, eran tratadas con desprecio, porque eran vistas como culpables. Jesús dijo que no era pecado de nadie, pero que era para poder ver la gloria de Dios al sanarlos. Hay una im-portante lección aun en la introducción de la historia· la actitud cristiana en el su-frimiento no es preguntarse de donde viene, pero en tomar acción en aliviarla. Segundo: el hombre que es sanado por Jesús, pasa a ser un improbable embaja-dor de Jesús, como lo fue la mujer en el pozo de la semana pasada, pero ambos son efectivos, ambos son tocados en su debilidad y movidos en fuerza; ambos son despreciados por la sociedad, pero recibidos por Jesús, hay una cura pro-gresiva de su ceguera espiritual, como él dijo de Jesús. 1-El hombre llamado Jesús 2-El profeta 3-Si este hombre no fuera de Dios 4-Señor yo creo Tercer grupo: en contraste con esta iluminación hay una ceguera en los fariseos. Ellos dicen conocer la palabra y las leyes de Dios, así que Jesús condena su ceguera como la peor. Ellos encuentran toda clase de razones para no creer lo que sus ojos les dicen: quizás este no era el hombre, quizás no nació ciego. Por lo tanto en el escrutinio los elegidos ya han sido iluminados hasta cierto punto; la cuaresma es el tiempo cuando esto se intensifica para ellos. Y para nosotros los ya católicos, todavía necesitamos crecer en la verdad de Dios. Como en los otros escrutinios hay una enseñanza importante sobre quién es Jesús. "Yo soy la Luz del mundo" también nos hace esperar con ansias, la iluminación celebrada en el bautismo de la pascua.
