AN INVITATION FROM PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

We councilors assist Father Klasinski in his role as shepherd of our parish (while the Finance

Council assists him in his role as steward). This weekend we introduced the Welcome Home

parish ministries brochure, registered new parishioners and hosted coffee and donuts. Last year,

we sponsored the biannual parish ministry fair and hosted the pastors Jubilee celebration.

Spiritual Formation and Wellness Ministry were Council initiatives. Does Council sound like a

good fit for you? Councilors serve a four-year term. We meet on the second Monday of the

month (not December, July and August). For more information, please email Council Chair

Mary Lou Capichioni and [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!

Mass for Life -January 22, 2018, 10:00 a.m.

Please pray for all our deceased

Attention 5th - 12th Graders!

Interested in Becoming an Altar Server?

New altar server training will be held on Saturdays, February 10 and 17 from

10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the church. (PSR students, please ask to be dismissed 15 minutes early.) If there

is a funeral or other conflict, a session may be scheduled on February 24. Attendance on both dates is

necessary. If you have a conflict, the session will have to be made up. The altar server

program is open to those from 5th grade through high school. New servers will begin

serving on weekends in March, paired with experienced servers. To register for the training, for more

information or if you have a conflict with either of the above dates, please contact Barbara Curran at

440-461-4495 or [email protected].

Womankind Donations

The Wellness Group will collect donations of

baby wipes and diapers for Womankind, this

weekend, before and after all Masses at the Saint

Clare Statue in the Academy. Womankind

provides a full range of confidential services to

mothers before and after delivery.

Approximately 1,700 women use one or more of

their services each year. This is made possible by

generous donors. We invite you to take this

opportunity to support life!

SAINT CLARE COMMUNITY OUTREACH…

…Again wishes to offer a most sincere and heartfelt “Thank-You” to our parishioners and the ministries

and organizations who have so generously donated cash, food, clothing and services for the Thanksgiving

and Christmas seasons.

Among those we wish to give a special “Thank-You” to are:

* Saint Clare Youth Group (SCYGA) for providing a family a happy Christmas.

* Boy Scout Troup 433 for the $300 proceeds of the Pancake Breakfast.

* LaBarberia Institute of Hair for Free Haircuts.

* Mayfield Heights Golden Age Club for their $30 cash donation.

* Student Volunteers from Corpus Christi Academy and Parish School of Religion for the

Thanksgiving Food drive.

* The City of Lyndhurst, the Knights of Columbus Gilmour Council #310, and the Associated Food

and Petroleum Dealers (AFPD) for their donations of twelve turkeys, twelve

Liters of Pepsi, and a dozen cartons of sour cream.

* Our wonderful Saint Clare ushers whose services to Community Outreach are indispensable.

The Saint Augustine Hunger Center received 105 bags of food, 12 turkeys and $780 in cash from

The Thanksgiving Food and Clothing Drive.

The Father Michael Wittman Ozanam Center received 30 bags of clothing.

A most grateful “Thank You” to our generous parishioners and the ministries and organizations who

contributed so very much to the poor and needy of our community.

THE JOURNEY . . . A WAY TO DEEPEN YOUR EXPERIENCE OF JESUS

During Lent, the Spiritual Formation Committee of Saint Clare and Saint

Paschal Baylon will be offering an opportunity for a unique and powerful

experience. You are invited to join small faith-sharing groups, similar to the

ARISE groups that have met over the past couple of years. Our new program,

entitled THE JOURNEY, is a six-week program of sharing, prayer, and

reflection that can help everyone—parishioners, family, friends and neighbors

grow in faith. THE JOURNEY brings us into contact with those who knew

and encountered Jesus. Through videos and sharing, their experiences

become real in our day . . . in our personal lives . . . in our relationships with

God...and others.

Each participant will receive a book which contains faith-sharing materials, consisting of prayer,

scripture readings, reflections and faith-sharing questions. You are asked to contribute $10.00,

which covers the cost of the book; scholarships are available. Groups will meet once a week at

different times during the day and in the evening, both at Saint Clare and Saint Paschal.

Everyone is talking about a personal experience of Jesus . . . especially Pope Francis. Come and

see what it is all about.

Registration forms, where you can choose the day and time you would like to meet, are

available in the business office or on the parish website, www.saintclare.net. Please register by

February 4 so we can order the books. If you have any questions or would like further

information, call Barbara Curran at 440-840-5511 or Rosalie Lewis at 440-227-8718. Take your

Lenten Journey with Jesus!

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish—Respect Life Committee sponsored the 42nd Respect Life Essay

The title of the contest this year was “...whatever you did for one of the least of My brothers, you

did it for Me…” Matthew 25:40.

The students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades submitted essays that were judged by three judges. The

first, second and third place winners in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades received cash awards and a

framed copy of their essays. There were also honorable mention certificates awarded.
