NOTES FROM PAUL
Lent will be upon us in two weeks, and while I am probably missing something important to reflect on in today's
readings, I wanted to make sure that you had fair notice about a few upcoming events. First, we will have ashes on
Ash Wednesday, but this year we will be sprinkling them on peoples heads instead of drawing crosses on your
foreheads. I want to remind everyone that while people really enjoy Ash Wednesday, it is not a Holy Day of
Obligation. If you are worried about Covid, or don't want ashes in your hair, it is not a problem for you if you do not
attend. We will be excited to see everyone who does attend this mass.
The second thing is that we will again have The Stations of the Cross each Friday in church during Lent.
Different parish groups will host the Stations at 7 pm each Friday, and we will also be streaming them live on
Facebook for anyone at home. I hope you each have a chance to pray the Stations at some time during Lent. I hope
to spend each Friday praying that our parish finds a powerful way to Evangelize to our community during the time
of Covid, and Family of Parishes. If you have time, and nothing more pressing to pray for this Lent, I would ask
that you join me in praying for this, no matter where you are physically located.
God bless you,
Paul Zbytowski
Pastoral Associate
Evangelization and Christian Service Coordinator
Queen’s Quotes from Religious Formation
Super Bowl Greetings and Salutations,
In today’s Gospel we hear about healing. Jesus began healing those who were ill. He cured Simon’s mother in
law, and soon the entire city was gathered at the door. Jesus continued to heal many. What cure do you ask of
Jesus? What sickness, sadness, loneliness, worries, or bad feelings can you lay before him? Pray to Jesus and ask
for healing.
In the coming weeks we will begin our journey through Lent. I will be hosting a Lenten ZOOM book study on
Thursday mornings. It will begin the week after Ash Wednesday, on Thursday mornings from 10:30am-11:30am.
Dates are February 24th thru March 31st. The last Zoom meeting would fall on Holy Thursday so we would
conclude on the Wednesday March 31st, the day before Holy Thursday. The name of the book that will be
discussed is “Living your Baptism in Lent, “Weekly Reflections for Your Journey; Dennis Strach, CSC. You may
find this book at Liturgy Training Publications, www.LTP.org.

PRAYER FOR AN END TO THE
CORONAVIRUS CRISIS
Loving God, We come before you in our time of need. We lay before you
our concerns and fears over the spread of the coronavirus. We know
that you are mightier than all our fears and that the name of Jesus is
the name above all other names.
We ask, in the name of Jesus, that you stop the spread of the
coronavirus. In your mercy, heal those who are sick and lead those who
have died into your heavenly kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name
of Jesus. Amen.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy
intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto
thee O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To thee do we come. Before thee
we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen.
ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I
love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I
cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there
and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from
you. Amen.
