WELCOME to the CHURCH of SAINT SEBASTIAN
In my own name and on behalf of the People of Saint Sebastian’s, welcome to
our Parish! If you are visiting, coming back to the Church and Mass after some time away, or looking for a Parish, you are most welcome here at Saint Sebastian’s.
Parish Registration
Registration is the official way we join a parish community, please stop in the
Parish Office or register online to become a registered parishioner. To be
considered an active registered member of the parish, members are asked to give of their time, talent and treasure. The parish is in need of and welcomes
all three parts of your stewardship. Sacrament of Baptism
Congratulations on the birth of your child! We require all parents and
godparents to attend Sacramental Preparation Classes. Once you have called
the rectory to plan for the baptism of your child, we will have someone contact
you to set up a special appointment for Preparation classes. These classes are usually done one on one with each family and are conducted by a couple who
are well prepared to teach and assist in Baptismal Preparation. Sacrament of Matrimony
Congratulations on your engagement and decision to enter into a Catholic
marriage! Saint Sebastian Parish will help you in your preparation to ensure
that you make this serious and sacred step in your life a holy and happy one.
The day and time of your wedding must be arranged in person by the prospective bride and groom themselves as soon as they feel called to marry.
No arrangement can be made by phone or parents. All arrangements should
be made nine months prior to the wedding date and done prior to scheduling the reception.
The first meeting with the Pastor may be scheduled by calling the Parish Office
at (401) 751-0196. Spiritual preparation is a key part of this special time.
Frequent participation in the sacraments during this time is important, particularly weekly Mass attendance. It is also strongly recommended that you
bring yourselves to the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this time of
preparation. Religious Education
By their word and their example, parents are the first and principal teachers of
their children concerning our Catholic Faith. The Religious Education of Saint
Sebastian’s stands ready to assist parents in their sacred and most important responsibility. Should you have any questions about the program please
contact Mr. Bob Short at [email protected]

From F R . J O R DA N , O P. MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS,
May the Grace of Our Lord remain with us always!
Next Sunday at the 10am Mass we will bless the
renovated Parish Hall, and dedicate the Blessed
Sacrament Altar. Both of these occasions are great
accomplishments and moments of profound
thanksgiving.
The new Blessed Sacrament Altar places the Lord
exactly where He belongs: in the center of the
sanctuary, as a reminder that He is the source,
center, and end of our worship. The carpenters have
been able to use a great deal of the existing frame,
which helps the Altar look like it has always been
here. The Palanza Group has done a superb job in
their construction, painting, and placement of the
statues of Sacred Heart, Our Lady, Saint Joseph,
Saint Anthony, as well as the placement of the Icon
of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
None of this would be possible without the great
generosity of Albert Terrano and Allen
Walentukonis who have given this wonderful gift in
memory of their late mother, Cornelia Lucia
Apuzzo. Cornelia will always be remembered when
we look at the entire sanctuary, and Albert and
Allen’s generosity never forgotten.
The Parish Hall is a project that I never thought
would never end. Beginning in August of 2019, the
great search began. The search was to answer the
question once and for all why, after all the masonry
work has been completed; a new French Drain
installed on the south side of the Church; why was
their always water in the hall?
The search was finally resolved when, through the
assiduous study and unstoppable searching of
Armando Ricci and his workers, every drain
unclogged; unknown drains were discovered; and,
every drain in the floor of the Parish Hall removed
(they were all collapsed or broken apart) and
replaced with new French Drains around the entire
perimeter of the Hall.
Once the drains were repaired, before the new floor
could be laid, an asbestos abatement was necessary
because the old tile was filled with asbestos.
Before the new floor could be laid the entire Hall, as
well as the Kitchen, and Miss Marie’s former office
had to be repaired and painted. As I recently
mentioned in the Sunday announcements, Mike
Sullivan has given an uncountable number of hours
spackling and painting the walls in the hall, the
bathrooms, and even built a new wall in the kitchen.
He has spent days sealing and waxing the floor until
it is perfect, and most of the time Mike worked off
the clock. We can never repay Mike: Thank you!!
I pray that as many as possible will be with us in
person or via live streamed.
When I look at all of these great improvements, the
innumerable gifts of time, talent, and treasure, the
words of Saint Paul’ Letter to the Philippians come
to mind:
I thank my God, on every remembrance of you!
Always in every prayer of mine for you,
with joy;
I have you in my heart!
May God reward all of you in only the way He is
able!
In the Lord,

LET US PRAY FOR OUR BELOVED DEAD:

through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
It has been our custom to celebrate Mass with the
Anointing of the Sick on the Solemnity of Christ the
King, which falls this year on November 22nd.
Given the realities of the Pandemic, to hold this
celebration in the Church would be concerning for
those who already live chronic maladies. I would
like to offer you the following: similar to “stay in
your Communion”, on Sunday, November 22 we
will offer, “stay in your car Anointing of the Sick”.
Beginning at 11:30am, simply drive up in front of
Church, put down your car window, and you can
receive the Sacrament of the Sick, safely, with social
distancing, and without having to be in a large
group. I will be wearing a face shield and a mask to
help insure your safety. I will stay outside of
Church until 12:15 or longer if needed.
WALKING WITH PURPOSE: A BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN LED BY WOMEN
Ladies! This is just for you. Please consider
joining some of your fellow parishioners for a Bible
Study for women, entitled Walking With Purpose.
Walking With Purpose will gather virtually every
other Monday of the month from 8 - 9. For
information, or to register please contact: Mary Hill
at (646) - 453 - 9345, or Rizalina Miller at (360) 689 -
6364.
LITURGICAL BIBLE STUDY
Thanksgiving and Advent are just around the
corner! Come to our Liturgical Bible Study to chat
about what the Sunday readings are telling
us. Meetings in November are November 14th and
28th, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, after the Saturday
morning Mass. No experience is necessary, just an
interest in hearing what God has to tell us and
readiness to chat with others doing the same.
Bring your bible to the Randall Room, or borrow
one off the shelf. We will be masked and socially
distanced.
Contact Bob Short at [email protected] if you have
any questions. We hope to see you there!
AROUND the PARISH
With all the news telling us that Thanksgiving
should not be the same this year, there is one thing
about Thanksgiving that will not change: food for
the poor and the homeless. They do not worry
about how many people to invite to dinner – they
just want to have dinner!!
Help us supply food to Mary’s House by bringing
canned goods and other items like stuffing mix, etc.
to Church. Please leave your donations outside the
servers’ sacristy where they will be kept safe until
they are delivered to Mary House.
In addition: Mary’s House contacted me the other
day in search of Turkeys. The have promised 40
Turkeys to families that could never afford them. I
have pledged that Saint Sebastian’s will donate ten
Turkeys. If you would like to donate one or more of
these ten Turkeys, please contact Karin or myself.
All Turkeys need to be delivered here by Friday,
November 20.
If a family would like to make this opportunity a
“family - service - project” please contact Karen
Schrott or myself. God Bless Your generosity!
All food is needed no later than Sunday,
November 22nd.
CEMETERY CLEAN UP
Saint Mary of the Bay and Saint Jean Baptiste
Cemeteries are requesting that all items be removed
from graves before November 13. After that date,
the staff will remove anything in front of each
marker except for planted items.
Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on 17th at 7pm on
Belle’s Patio, AKA the Handicap Ramp. Call Pat
274-8632 or Joan 861-6603 for more information.
HOPE AND COPE MEETINGS
The next Monthly Hope and Cope group meetings
at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road will
take place at 5 p.m. on November 15 and December
20.
These meetings are geared toward those in or in
need of recovery from addiction, alcoholism or
mental distress and to those who are supporting a
loved one or friend in need of recovery.
For in-person Masses and gatherings, all social
distancing protocols must be followed.
