Selling Lottery tickets to a person under 18 years of age is against the law.
To ensure adherence to this law, the Lottery has implemented a program whereby field investigations are continuously conducted under the supervision of the Lottery’s Security Department. During these investigations, persons under the age of 18 years attempt to purchase Lottery products.
Protect yourself by continually educating your employees on the importance of ask-ing for identification. Sales Agents who sell Lottery tickets to persons under the age of 18 years old, may have the following penalties imposed; probation, suspension or termination of the Agents to Lottery products. Penalties may also include retraining.

To all MSLC Sales Agents:
The MSLC has clarified its policy regarding misuse of the auto-cash function on the Lottery’s on-line system.
Under this policy, auto cashing privileges on an MSLC terminal will be suspended for the remainder of the day when a Sales Agent (or his/her employee) commits two (2) instant ticket clear errors that day. The MSLC will not override that automatic suspension of daily auto-cashing privileges. Sales Agents, after committing one clear error, will receive a warning on that terminal that auto-cashing privileges will be suspended if a second clear occurs. Auto-cashing privileges will resume the next day. The MSLC will keep a record of the numbers of clear errors committed by a Sales Agent, however, to determine wether auto-cashing privileges should be suspended for a longer period of time.
Clear errors occur when:•Aninstantticketisscanned,theterminalrequeststhatthefirst3digitsoftheVIRNnumberbeentered,and
the Sales Agent does not enter those 3 digits (and goes on to another transactions or clears out).
•Aninstantisscanned,theterminalrequeststhatthefirst3digitsoftheVIRNnumberbeentered,andthewrong 3 digits are entered. The sales Agent may try again to enter the correct 3 digits — if successful, no error is recorded. I f the digits are still wrong after five attempts, a clear error occurs.
Sales Agents who have committed at least two (2) or more clear errors daily on three (3) or more days over the course of the previous week or have committed at least two (2) or more clear errors daily on eight (8) or more days over the course of the previous thirty (30) days may also have their auto-cashing function disabled.
