REFLECTION Jesus’ whole life was about service. Since Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, service is the way to truth and to life. In fact, service as a lifestyle is often rejected as being demeaning and beneath dignity, yet a life of service has become the cornerstone of our faith. The early Christians knew this. They appointed Stephen and six others to concentrate on service to the community’s needs. FIRST READING (Acts 6:1-7) Seven deacons are appointed to help serve the community’s needs SECOND READING (1 Peter 2:4-9) The stone (Jesus) rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone GOSPEL (John 14:1-12) Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
