COURSE DETAILS

Each course will require a total of 150 hours of learning activity. These will be made up of 30 contact hours and 120 hours of directed learning activities, assessment preparation, self study, company visits and distance tutorials.

CORE COURSES

ECONOMICS

The course aims at helping participants to think like economists. To this end, participants will learn the main formulas, frameworks and tools commonly applied in the field of micro and macroeconomics. The topics covered are: demand and supply theory, market structure, production, cost and revenue analysis, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade and finance, economic growth.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CREATIVITY

The focus of this course is on understanding how entrepreneurs create economic and social value by tapping into opportunities. In addition, the course explores entrepreneurial approaches related to how managers act when confronted with complex problems and emerging opportunity situations. In that sense, entrepreneurs provide a useful model for all managers including those of multinational corporations.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

The course provides the basic knowledge on the use of accounting and financial information systems for decision making. The module is based on International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

DECISION MAKING AND QUANTITATIVE BUSINESS METHODS

The course provides participants with mathematical formulae for the resolution of business problems. Although main mathematical theories and tools will be reviewed, the module has a predominantly practical scope; namely, to resolve management problems in mathematical terms.

CORPORATE FINANCE

The module instils the notion of capital budgeting in participants; namely, the analysis of cash flows, risk, and the financial aspects involved in project evaluations. Other important topics covered are debt vs. equity financing and corporate valuation models.

MARKETING MANAGEMENT

The module will equip participants with the analytical tools that will help them in the task of marketing decision-making. In addition, the course will enable participants to understand marketing as a managerial activity and its relationship with other management functions (operations, logistics, strategy, finance, etc.)

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

The course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of international strategic management, from strategic vision to actions. The course aims at familiarizing participants with the paradox of globalisation and localisation perspectives, an issue typical of European countries, characterized by a culturally, socially and politically complex market of vast proportions.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

This course will provide participants with a good understanding of how HRM can be a strategic function present in almost all corporate strategy implementation plans. Traditional phases like selection, recruiting, training or practices such as performance appraisals will be reviewed in order to give participants a good idea of operational HR as well as of the strategic approaches employed by managers today.

ELECTIVESFINANCE AREA

INVESTMENT TECHNIQUES AND FINANCIAL MARKETSThe module will review how decisions are made by institutional (banks, insurance companies, etc.) and individual investors (families). In this sense, tax, portfolio management and goal setting issues will be reviewed and further analysed by means of cases and exercises.

MULTINATIONAL FINANCIAL MARKETSThe course looks at how financial managers of multinationals handle the financing needs of their companies. In that sense, corporate policy objectives are scrutinized along with tools such as exchange rate management, IPOs, debt issuing, derivatives and so forth.

MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS (M&A)The course explains the rationale behind M&A, risk control strategies and financing techniques. In addition, participants learn to assess the value of a transaction in a critical manner as well as the promises and pitfalls of M&As policies and practices in corporations.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND CHANGE MANAGEMENTThrough this course participants will understand the dynamic nature of modern organizations and the complex issue of change within them from the perspective of culture. Culture is arguably an element of strategic stability in organizations, yet one which can play a role as an engine towards corporate change if used properly.

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENTThe course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to deliver effective learning and development activities for one-to-one, small group and large group sessions. Participants will review adult learning principles and the learning cycle, with the main focus on the importance of creating and maintaining a positive learning environment and the knowledge and skills required for the actual delivery of an activity or session.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONInternal communication represents an essential strategic lever for the motivation and involvement of the members of any type of organisation. In effect, no plan and no organisational objective can be fully developed and reached if it is not understood and shared by the people who are tasked to implement it.

The Internal Communication course is aimed at teaching the most advanced theoretical-methodological approaches and operational practices, including the illustration of international best practices on how to communicate effectively with employees.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND BUSINESS ETHICSParticipants will be introduced to a cutting edge, easy to understand approach to sustainability and leadership, which presents multiple perspectives and key ideas from the areas of psychology, philosophy, sociology and cultural studies. Participants will also explore the vertical dimension and the evolution of value systems and stages of human development and understand the various drivers, governance and leadership styles that influence individuals, organizations and societies. In addition, the course will focus on ethical behaviours within organizations, principles and model practices.

INTERNATIONAL TRADEThe module looks at the various Preferential Trade Agreement types and other trade instruments used to increase or curb trade. Participants will learn to assess the economic and social values of different trade policies as well as the main trade theories to help explain phenomena like price discrimination, factor price equalization, etc.

MARKETING

SERVICE MARKETINGThe ultimate objective of the module is to introduce participants to the strategies and techniques of marketing services to customers and prospects. It intends to help participants appreciate the essential elements that differentiate service marketing activities from traditional product ones. In that sense, marketing issues extend beyond marketing itself and encompass fields such as operations and human resources in a holistic view.

INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATIONThe module will look at the communication tools, techniques and various media used in firm communication departments. It will emphasize the utilization of different media towards a common communication goal spanning from brand building to product selling or awareness creation, among others.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENTIn today’s business world, it is commonly accepted that, in order to reach and maintain a competitive advantage, firms new to a product innovate faster and more effectively than their competitors. The module aims at analysing innovation as a complex process which goes from the strategic definition of the new product/service to the actual product/service launch, all interwoven by a multidisciplinary approach.

Classes are held in Rome, fortnightly, on Friday afternoons (16,00 – 19,30) and all day on Saturdays (9,30 – 17,30).

Distance Learning This option is ideal for all those who wish to organize their study time with the maximum flexibility and the guarantee of a true learning progress.

You will be provided with:

• The text books

• The presentations and the multimedia materials

• The exercises related to each learning module

• A personal tutor for each course

• The teacher’s corrections and suggestions

• Regular web conferences for amplifications and clarifications together with the other attendees.

Once enrolled, you will receive the paper materials, the credentials to access the online learning materials and you will be assigned your personal tutor.

You will agree your work plan with your tutor, who will assign and check your exercises and your final project/exam.

You will be able to attend regular web conferences (on average one every two weeks) from the comfort of your home or the location of your choice, with the same learning effectiveness of the on-campus lectures. For this option, the Rome Business School employs a cutting-edge online platform, through which you will be able to:

• Follow lectures with full video and audio

• Interact in real time in audio and video with the teacher and the other attendees

• Collaborate and share documentation

All web conferences will also be recorded so that, if you cannot participate live, you will be able to watch them at your convenience.

The Rome Business School Recruitment Team will assess your application and will contact you if any additional documents are required. Complete applications will then be considered by the Academic Selection Committee.

Interview (either in person or online)

All candidates selected by the academic selection committee must interview with a member of the faculty, either in person or online via Skype/Webex.

Application outcome

We will notify you informally by email of your application outcome, and you will receive either an official offer notification with information on any outstanding conditions to complete, or an official rejection notification within one week.

• For European students : 30 days before start.

Admission decisions will be made on an ongoing basis as applications are received.

Tuition fees• FULL-TIME ON-CAMPUS: € 25.000

• EXECUTIVE ON CAMPUS: € 19.000

• DISTANCE LEARNING: € 15.000

The tuition fee covers teaching fees, all academic material, the social programme and the integrative cultural programme. The tuition fee does not include transportation, accommodation and meals.

The Rome Business School does, however, make all the necessary provisional reservations for accommodation.

CONTRACT CLAUSES1 - COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION: Registration is considered complete upon receipt by the Rome Business School of this form, duly filled in and signed for acceptance, along with the payment.

2 - CANCELLATION: It is possible to cancel participation in the course within 9 calendar days (inclusive) preceding its starting date, communicating the decision by fax or email. In this case the sums already paid will be returned. If the cancellation is received beyond the aforementioned time limit, the Rome Business School will be entitled to charge the full fee.

3 - IMPOSSIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE: In case of absence at the beginning of the course, the Rome Business School will be authorized to issue an invoice for the full amount and retain the amount already paid, subject to the possibility of the participant to enroll in another edition or another course of equal amount.

4 - WITHDRAWAL: In case of withdrawal of the participant from the course once it has already begun, the Rome Business School will be entitled to issue an invoice for the entire fee; the participant will retain the right to keep the educational materials distributed during the course.5 - CHANGE OF PROGRAMME: For didactic and organizational reasons, the Rome Business School reserves the right to postpone scheduled classes and modify the programme and/or replace teachers. Any changes will be promptly communicated to the companies and participants.6 - LIABILITY OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants in the courses/Master’s Degrees are personally responsible for any damage caused to the classrooms, equipment and other items in the rooms used by the Rome Business School. Participants are also required to abide by the internal regulations (signing registers, using computer equipment, etc..).7 - PRIVACY: The processing of personal data is carried out by the Data Bank of the Rome Business

School in compliance with the provisions of personal data protection laws. Your data will not be disclosed to third parties, and you may at any time request its erasure. Should you not wish to receive further communications about our activities, please tick this box 8 - DISPUTES: In case of any dispute, the Court of Rome shall be competent, to the exclusion of any other Court.
